One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo recover a YouTube lofi stream automatically, set up three separate layers: OBS automatic reconnect for a dropped connection, an operating-system process supervisor to relaunch OBS if it exits, and YouTube Live Control Room’s auto-start setting so the broadcast can begin when the encoder feed returns. None of these settings replaces the other two.
Know which part failed
“The stream crashed” can describe different failures, and each needs a different recovery control:
- Connection or output interruption: OBS is still running, but its streaming connection has dropped. OBS automatic reconnect can retry the output.
- OBS process crash or exit: OBS is no longer running. Its reconnect setting cannot act; an operating-system process supervisor must relaunch it.
- YouTube broadcast did not resume: The encoder may be running again, but the broadcast may not start automatically. YouTube auto-start controls whether a broadcast starts when encoder video begins.
For a persistent setup, combine all three layers. YouTube’s auto-start setting starts the broadcast when video arrives; it does not restart OBS. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains the stream and encoder relationship, while OBS’s connection troubleshooting guidance covers output reconnection and network issues.
Configure the recovery path
1. Verify the YouTube stream and key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Select the intended stream and verify its stream key. The key is the credential and destination information your encoder uses to send video, so keep it private.
- Enable auto-start if you want YouTube to begin the broadcast when the encoder feed starts. Confirm the setting on the selected stream rather than assuming it is enabled.
If you reuse a YouTube stream, check its auto-start and auto-stop settings too. YouTube says a reused stream carries these selections, along with metadata, settings, and the stream key. YouTube Live Control Room help

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Enable OBS output reconnect
In OBS, open Settings and check the streaming output’s automatic reconnect options. Exact labels and placement can vary by OBS version and output. Enable reconnect and choose a retry interval and maximum retries appropriate for your setup. OBS documents that retry intervals double on each retry, so recovery attempts do not necessarily happen at a fixed interval. This helps with a dropped connection only while OBS remains running; it does not restart a terminated process. OBS Project: Stream Connection Troubleshooting
3. Add an operating-system process supervisor
Configure a supervisor on the machine running OBS to launch OBS again after an unexpected exit. The correct mechanism depends on whether the host runs Windows, macOS, or Linux and whether OBS is launched in an interactive desktop session. There is no single platform-neutral command or setting that can safely cover those differences.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Configure and test the supervisor so it:
- relaunches OBS after an unexpected exit, without creating duplicate OBS instances;
- starts OBS as the correct user and, when required, in the correct desktop session;
- loads the intended scene collection and streaming configuration; and
- can recover after a host reboot too, if reboot recovery is part of your requirement.
Do not assume a background service can open OBS correctly in a logged-out or different user session. The host operating system and how OBS is deployed determine the exact implementation.
4. Test the full chain
With the real channel and stream configuration, test a brief output interruption and an OBS process exit separately. Confirm that OBS reconnects after the first, the supervisor relaunches OBS after the second, and YouTube starts the broadcast when the feed returns. Check that the correct stream, key, scenes, and auto-start state are in use before leaving the stream unattended.

Diagnose a stream that did not come back
| What you see | Likely failure layer | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| OBS is open, but the stream disconnected or frames keep dropping | Network or output connection | Check OBS reconnect status. Investigate server selection, bitrate, security software, VPNs, network devices, and the ISP; OBS lists these among possible connection factors. OBS connection troubleshooting |
| OBS is closed after the interruption | Encoder process | OBS reconnect cannot run after the process exits. Check supervisor logs and confirm it is configured to relaunch OBS in the correct user and desktop session. |
| OBS has restarted, but YouTube receives no feed | Encoder configuration or stream key | Verify the current key in Live Control Room and update the encoder if the key changed. Confirm the encoder is sending to the intended stream. YouTube stream setup help |
| YouTube receives video, but the broadcast does not go live | YouTube broadcast activation | Check auto-start for the selected stream in Live Control Room. Auto-start controls broadcast behavior when encoder video begins; it does not launch the encoder. |
| A repeat stream behaves differently from the previous one | Reused stream settings | Review inherited auto-start and auto-stop settings, along with the key and other stream settings, before starting the encoder. |
Keep the stream within YouTube’s rules
Automatic recovery only restores the technical feed; it does not make the content eligible for YouTube or guarantee monetization. Make sure you have the rights to the lofi music, artwork, and any other material in the stream. Repeatedly looping content should also be meaningfully yours or appropriately licensed; technical uptime is not a substitute for meeting YouTube’s copyright and channel monetization policies. Protect the stream key as you would a password, since someone with it may be able to send video to your stream.
