To rotate a recorded Roblox clip in a YouTube livestream, add it to an OBS scene as a Media Source, then use OBS’s Transform controls to turn and frame it. This changes how the clip appears in the live composition; it does not alter the saved video. If you mean cycling through multiple clips rather than changing a clip’s orientation, use a playlist source instead.
Rotate and frame a recorded Roblox clip in OBS
- Create a scene: In OBS, add a scene for the livestream composition you want to send to YouTube.
- Add the video: In the Sources panel, add a Media Source and select the local Roblox recording. OBS documents Media Source playback for local files; its available controls can vary by application version and operating system. OBS Media Sources
- Transform the source: Select the video in the preview or Sources list, then open its Transform or Edit Transform controls. Set the orientation and position there. OBS’s source guide covers transforming and laying out sources: OBS Sources Guide.
- Check the canvas: Inspect the preview after turning the clip. Reposition or resize it as needed so important gameplay is not clipped and the rest of the canvas is used intentionally. Choose framing that suits the output layout; a portrait clip inside a landscape composition may leave unused space unless you arrange other scene elements around it.
- Send the scene to YouTube: Connect OBS to your YouTube Live encoder workflow and start the stream when the scene is ready. YouTube describes encoder streaming for gameplay and overlays in its encoder help.
The transformation is part of the OBS scene, so it is useful when the clip only needs correcting for this livestream. If you need a permanently rotated video file for use elsewhere, this workflow does not modify the original recording; use a video-editing workflow that exports a changed file.
Loop one clip or play a playlist
Repeat a single recording
Open the Media Source properties and enable its Loop option if you want one clip to replay. This repeats the same source; it does not rotate among several files.
Play multiple clips
OBS documents VLC Video as a playlist-capable source, with a Loop Playlist option. VLC must be installed for this source. The documented playlist controls establish playlist playback and looping, not a random schedule or a more elaborate automatic rotation system. Check the preview and source order before going live. Get a Roblox recording ready
Roblox’s own in-experience capture feature records up to 30 seconds per capture. Roblox says captures are stored in app storage and can be saved to the device camera roll or desktop Videos folder. Save clips you want to keep outside the Roblox app: Roblox warns that deleting the app before saving a clip elsewhere deletes gallery clips too. These details apply to Roblox’s built-in capture feature, not every third-party recording method. Roblox Support: How to Capture Experiences
Roblox also says its capture feature removes in-experience UI and does not record voice chat or other in-experience sounds. If your clip was made with that feature, account for those omissions when deciding whether it contains everything you need for the stream.

Check rights and monetization before streaming
Rotating a clip or adding commentary does not by itself make it eligible for monetization. YouTube says monetizing game content can depend on commercial-use rights granted by the game publisher. Its guidance says gameplay without appropriate licensing must be minimal and discusses instructional or educational value tied to the action; simply showing gameplay or software for extended periods may not be accepted. Review YouTube’s video game and software content monetization guidance and do not assume that a livestream or a visual transformation changes the rights position.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The clip is sideways or upside down: Select the Media Source itself and adjust its Transform settings. Confirm you have selected the video source, not the scene or another overlay.
- The rotated picture is cut off: Recheck its position and size in the preview after applying the transform. A source that fit before rotation may no longer fit the same canvas area.
- The canvas has empty space: This can happen when source and output orientations differ. Reframe the source or compose other scene elements around it; do not assume a portrait recording will fill a landscape canvas without cropping or unused space.
- A clip stops instead of replaying: For one Media Source, enable Loop in its properties. For a VLC Video playlist, check Loop Playlist and confirm VLC is installed.
- A playlist does not play as expected: Verify the playlist entries and playback order in the VLC Video source. The documented loop control repeats the playlist; it does not establish random playback or scheduled rotation.
- The saved Roblox capture is missing: Check Roblox app storage and whether the clip was saved to the device’s camera roll or Videos folder. Roblox says deleting the app before exporting clips elsewhere removes gallery clips.
- The stream is live but the wrong scene appears: Before starting the encoder stream, inspect the active OBS scene and its preview to verify the transformed clip is in the composition being sent to YouTube.
