You can run a continuous Hindi nursery-rhyme programme on YouTube by sending a prepared playlist through an encoder from a verified channel, but treat it as a series of archive-safe broadcasts—not one endless recording. Clear rights for every song and visual, set the audience accurately, leave upload-bandwidth headroom, and restart before a stream reaches 12 hours. YouTube warns that a longer stream may not be captured at all.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube supports encoder-based streaming for prepared audio and video programmes.
- An encoder and a computer or other setup capable of sending your prepared programme continuously. YouTube documents both software and hardware encoding; hardware is an option, not a requirement.
- A reliable internet connection with capacity above the stream’s total outgoing bitrate, plus a plan for monitoring and recovery.
- Written permissions covering the actual songs, recordings, performances, and visuals in both the live broadcast and its archive.
- A schedule that divides the broadcast into segments shorter than 12 hours, with local recordings and an operator able to check each transition.
These steps reduce avoidable failures but cannot guarantee gapless streaming, uninterrupted YouTube service, or monetization.
Prepare the channel and configure an encoder
- Check eligibility. In YouTube Studio, confirm that the channel is verified and able to livestream. YouTube’s live-stream guidance says the channel must have no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Create a stream in Live Control Room. Choose the encoder-based setup for the prepared, repeating programme. Copy the Live server URL and stream key shown by YouTube into the matching fields in your encoder. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Choose encoder settings using YouTube’s current guidance. Match the resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, and keyframe interval to the values YouTube displays or recommends for the selected stream. The figures can depend on the format and current platform guidance, so do not copy a bitrate or keyframe value from an unrelated setup. Make sure the total outgoing bitrate fits your sustained connection, not just a short speed-test result.
- Load and inspect the programme. Check the full playlist, audio levels, aspect ratio, title, description, and audience setting. Confirm that the opening and ending behave as intended and that the programme does not accidentally expose private material or a desktop notification.
- Start an unlisted test. Start the encoder and wait for YouTube’s preview in Live Control Room. Check playback through the actual watch page and on a phone. Listen for silence, clipping, sync drift, and abrupt loop transitions; inspect the image; and verify that the local recording is growing and can be played back.
- Go public only after the test passes. Start the public stream from the encoder and confirm the player is live. YouTube recommends configuring encoders well ahead of an event and monitoring the audio and video rather than assuming that a successful connection alone means the programme is healthy.
For a higher-production-value event, YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders. That is guidance for an option, not a requirement to buy hardware: software encoders are also documented. Compare any encoder against the needs of your actual setup, including supported formats, remote restart, monitoring, local recording, failover, power use, and cost; no particular model is established here as best.
Engineer the stream for fewer interruptions
Leave bandwidth headroom
Add up the encoder’s total outgoing bitrate and make sure the available upload capacity is higher. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth room beyond the total stream bitrate. A shared connection can have less capacity available than a speed test suggests, especially when other people or devices are using it. If practical, use a reliable wired connection and observe the stream under normal household or studio network use before committing to the schedule.

Plan and test a backup
If continuity matters, prepare a backup encoder and, where practical, an alternate internet path and backup power. These add cost and operational complexity; YouTube does not require a particular device or promise uninterrupted service. Its guidance describes testing whether the player rolls over when the primary encoder fails: stop the primary encoder or disconnect its Ethernet cable and confirm that the backup takes over. Run this test before relying on it, and keep recovery instructions and access credentials available to the operator.
Monitor rather than assume
Watch the player and encoder status during operation, and check sound and picture after each change or restart. Keep a local recording where possible. A backup path can reduce the effect of a failure, but it does not replace testing, a person or process able to notice problems, and a recovery plan.
Run the schedule as archive-safe segments
A 24/7 programme does not mean YouTube will preserve one continuous 24/7 archive. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its archive guidance states: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” Treat 12 hours as a hard outer limit, not a target: end and restart well before it to leave time for transitions and recovery.

- Build a repeating schedule. Divide the day into broadcasts shorter than 12 hours, leaving a practical margin before the limit. Keep a playlist or schedule so viewers can find the next segment.
- Prepare the next segment before ending the current one. Confirm the next playlist, encoder connection, title, and audience setting. If two encoders are part of the workflow, coordinate the handoff so the incoming stream is ready before the outgoing one ends.
- Verify the handoff. Check that the next watch page is live before leaving the previous broadcast. A planned restart can still create a break; do not describe the schedule as guaranteed gapless.
- Check both copies afterward. Confirm that the YouTube archive is present and playable, and verify the local recording. Keep local files for recovery and record which segments have been checked.
YouTube’s archive guidance is not a guarantee that every segment will be captured or that a continuous schedule will have no gaps. The local archive is an important fallback, not proof that the public archive succeeded.

Set the audience accurately for nursery-rhyme content
In Live Control Room, use the audience selector to identify whether the stream is made for kids. YouTube’s examples of children’s music genres include “Nursery Rhymes” and “Hindi Children” music. A stream deliberately made for nursery-age viewers calls for a careful Made for Kids assessment. The creator is responsible for the designation; do not rely only on automated classification or on the fact that some adults may also watch.
Made for Kids live streams have feature restrictions. YouTube lists live chat and live chat donations, personalized advertising, comments, notifications, and other features as unavailable or limited for this content. Plan moderation and viewer communication without depending on live chat, and do not assume ordinary personalized-ad monetization. Check the current controls and feature status in YouTube Studio.

Clear every song, recording, and visual before broadcasting
Do not assume a familiar rhyme is free to use, or that a licence for one element clears the rest. YouTube’s livestream terms require the streamer to have the necessary worldwide rights for live content, including music licensing rights. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party content. If a match continues, the image may be replaced or the stream may be interrupted or terminated; a rights holder may need to allowlist a licensed channel in Content ID. Claims can also appear on the archive after the live broadcast ends.
Make a rights inventory for each programme
For every item in the playlist, identify the rights holder and get permission for the specific uses you need. Track at least:

- Lyrics and text: the lyrics, translations, and adaptations.
- Musical work: the composition and any arrangement.
- Recording and performance: the specific sound recording, singers, and instrumental performances.
- Visual material: animation, illustrations, fonts, stock footage, and other images.
- Platform and commercial scope: YouTube livestreaming, archived playback, territories, duration, monetization, edits or looping, and any Content ID allowlisting needed.
An old or traditional rhyme may have different rights implications from a modern arrangement, performance, recording, or animation based on it. The sources available for this article do not establish the rights status of any particular Hindi rhyme or recording.

Check what a licence actually covers
India’s Copyright Act, 1957 addresses communication to the public and rights in musical works, including reproduction and communication to the public. IPRS describes licensing for copyright music under its control and online music uses, but that does not establish that it represents every relevant work or right. Likewise, a licence for a sound recording should not be assumed to clear lyrics, composition, performers, visuals, YouTube use, territories, archives, or monetization. Check repertoire and scope directly with the relevant owners. For a commercial 24/7 operation, obtain advice from India-qualified counsel and keep written permissions and correspondence.

YouTube’s monetization rules apply to live streams. Its July 15, 2025 policy update clarified the label “inauthentic content” for repetitive or mass-produced work, which it said had been ineligible under the existing policy. For a children’s music channel, build a meaningful original contribution into the production—such as original songs, distinctive animation, or educational value—and make that contribution clear. A static loop of material the channel does not own is not a sound basis for assuming monetization eligibility.
