The dependable approach is to use audio and visuals you made or have documented rights to, test the exact stream before launch, provide stable upload bandwidth and power, and monitor it while it runs. A 24/7 broadcast is not automatically archived in full, and permission to use a recording does not by itself make a repetitive channel eligible for monetization.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube channel eligible for live streaming: it must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains the requirements.
- A computer running a streaming encoder, a reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the encoder settings, and access to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- Rain audio and visuals you created, or materials you have permission to use, plus project files and source recordings that help document how you made the finished work.
YouTube’s encoder guide says incoming streams are transcoded for viewers and recommends testing the stream before broadcasting. It does not prescribe one universal PC specification or upload-speed number for every setup; those depend on your encoder settings and network. See YouTube’s encoder-streaming guidance.
Prepare rain audio and visuals that are yours to publish
Build a distinctive program
Record rain yourself where practical, or use audio and visuals for which you have documented rights. Shape the material into a deliberate soundscape: for example, vary the mix, scene, perspective or arrangement in ways that reflect a real creative choice. Keep original recordings, licenses, project files and exports together so you can substantiate the work.
A technically seamless loop is not the same as an original channel. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams, and says monetized content should be original and authentic. Reviewers may consider the channel’s theme, most-viewed and newest videos, share of watch time, metadata and About section. Generic, repetitive or mass-produced material may not qualify. Separate copyright permission from monetization eligibility
Permission to use someone else’s rain recording can address copyright, but it does not by itself establish eligibility under YouTube’s reused-content policy. A channel that essentially republishes another person’s recording without substantive original changes or added value can still fail monetization review. Explain your production process accurately in descriptions, and do not present a licensed loop as automatically monetizable. YouTube’s reused-content guidance covers this distinction.
Set up the continuous livestream from your PC
- Verify and enable the channel. In YouTube Studio, complete channel verification and enable live streaming. Do this in advance: first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, and a channel with a live restriction in the previous 90 days does not meet the stated eligibility rule. Check the current eligibility requirements.
- Create an encoder stream. Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder workflow. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream into the matching fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: never show it in a screen capture or share it publicly. If exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube’s live settings.
- Configure the encoder for your actual source. Set the output resolution, frame rate and bitrate to match the rain video you have prepared and the stable upload capacity available at home. Use a consistent stream configuration and check the encoder’s output and YouTube’s current recommendations rather than guessing at a bitrate or assuming every Indian connection can sustain the same speed. The available evidence does not establish one universal setting or minimum PC configuration for this use case.
- Test the exact mix and motion. Start the encoder while the stream is private or unlisted, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health. Listen for clipping, silence, unwanted transitions or abrupt loop points; inspect the image for frozen frames, visible artifacts or unintended black screens. YouTube recommends testing because it transcodes the incoming stream for viewers. Review its encoder guide.
- Check upload headroom. YouTube recommends about 20% bandwidth room beyond the stream’s outgoing bitrate. Other people and devices sharing the connection can consume that margin, and an unreliable connection can interrupt the broadcast. Test upload performance under realistic household conditions; leave other high-bandwidth tasks off the connection where possible. YouTube’s live-streaming tips discuss bandwidth and connection reliability.
- Start the public broadcast and monitor it. When the preview and stream health look right, make the stream public and confirm it is live on the channel. Keep an eye on the Live Control Room and encoder for dropped frames, disconnections or an ended broadcast. Also check that any local recording is being written and its file size is growing; YouTube specifically advises checking the local archive file. See YouTube’s live tips.
Plan around power, internet and archive limits
Keep the home setup resilient
A PC-based stream depends on the computer, router, electricity and internet connection remaining usable. If an outage or encoder failure occurs, the broadcast can stop; YouTube does not guarantee a 24/7 mechanism for a home PC. Measure your PC and router’s actual power draw and your local electricity tariff before estimating running cost. Neither a universal Indian electricity cost nor a particular PC’s power consumption can be inferred without those inputs.
An Ethernet connection or a UPS for the PC and router can help address particular weak points, but neither guarantees a continuous stream. Choose a UPS only after measuring the connected load and deciding how much backup runtime you need.

Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a 24/7 stream as one replay
YouTube may automatically archive a livestream shorter than 12 hours; it warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That makes a single continuous broadcast a poor sole copy of material you want to keep. Save your source files and check that local recording is working. If a replay matters, plan separate, shorter sessions and verify the resulting archives in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s livestream archive guidance explains the limit.

Running a stream continuously does not promise earnings or YouTube Partner Program acceptance. Eligibility for ads and fan-support features depends on the channel meeting YouTube’s current requirements and policies, including its originality and reused-content rules. Keep the channel’s descriptions and About section clear about what you recorded, composed, edited or licensed.

Costs to measure before choosing
For a home PC, calculate electricity from the measured load of the computer and router, the hours they will run, and your local tariff. Separately assess whether your current internet plan and power arrangements can support an always-on broadcast. Do not treat an assumed upload speed, power bill or outage rate as a universal figure for Indian homes. A cloud service trades those home dependencies for a recurring service charge; compare the cost and monitoring needs against your own measured setup.

YouTube will not let you start the stream
Confirm the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled and the channel has no restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is the first enablement, allow up to 24 hours for activation. If access still fails, read the notice in YouTube Studio and resolve the stated account or policy issue.
The preview is black, silent or using the wrong stream
Check that the encoder is sending the intended video and audio sources, that playback is running, and that the server URL and stream key belong to the stream you created. Recheck the preview before going public. If the key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder.

The stream buffers, drops frames or disconnects
Compare the encoder’s outgoing bitrate with stable upload capacity, leaving the recommended 20% headroom. Check whether household devices are using the connection, and test again with competing traffic stopped. If the connection remains unstable, reduce the encoder’s output demands or address the underlying network issue; a faster advertised plan alone does not prove stable upload performance.
The PC stream stops after a power or internet outage
Check the PC, router and encoder state, restore connectivity, then reconnect through the Live Control Room and verify that the stream is live again. An Ethernet cable can avoid some wireless problems; a suitably sized UPS may bridge some power interruptions. Neither prevents every failure, so continue monitoring.
The livestream is missing from the archive
Check its duration. A stream over 12 hours may not be captured by YouTube, so do not use one all-day broadcast as the only copy of a recording. Preserve source media and confirm local recording files are growing during the broadcast.
