You can run a continuous Gujarati garba instrumental stream on YouTube with a playlist of recordings you have permission to broadcast, a visual to accompany the audio, and an encoder that stays connected. The encoder can run on a dedicated computer using OBS, on a VPS using FFmpeg, or in the cloud through a service such as StreamNeo. Before going live, clear rights for both the recordings and compositions: instrumental music is still protected, and YouTube may interrupt a live stream when it detects a match.
1. Clear rights for every recording before you build the stream
Make an inventory of every recording and composition you plan to play. Identify the relevant owners or administrators and obtain permission that covers the intended YouTube live broadcast, territories, duration, monetization, and any replay or archive (VOD) use. Keep the permissions and the channel details together in writing.
“Instrumental” does not mean copyright-free. Buying a track, uploading it privately, or accessing it through a music-streaming subscription does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it continuously. The applicable rights depend on the music and jurisdictions involved; this is practical clearance guidance, not jurisdiction-specific legal advice.
Ask about YouTube Content ID allowlisting
YouTube says its systems scan live streams for third-party content matches. A detected match can result in a placeholder replacing the stream, a warning, or interruption or termination. YouTube also advises creators who have licensed third-party music to ask the owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. A licence alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted, even when the creator limits the stream to territories where they hold rights. Ask the owner or distributor to confirm the channel identifier and the scope of the allowlisting in writing. YouTube: Learn about live stream restrictions

2. Make sure the channel can live stream
YouTube’s stated prerequisites include a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Enable live streaming ahead of the planned launch: YouTube’s music-creator guidance recommends allowing at least 24 hours. Then schedule or create an unlisted test before making the feed public. Check current eligibility and account status in YouTube Studio, since platform rules can change. YouTube: Get started with live streaming · YouTube for Artists
3. Choose how the encoder will keep the feed going
A 24/7 feed needs a running encoder process that sends audio and video to YouTube. Even an audio-first radio channel needs a visual signal, such as a static station image or a looping visual, alongside the music. The two do-it-yourself approaches below are options, not performance-tested recommendations; neither guarantees uninterrupted service.

Option A: OBS on a dedicated computer
Use this when you can leave a computer powered, connected to a reliable network, and available to run OBS continuously. Create a scene with the station artwork or other suitable visual and a continuous audio source, then connect OBS to the stream settings shown in YouTube Studio. Plan how you will notice and recover from OBS closing, a computer restart, power loss, or network failure. The computer and desktop session must remain available for this approach.
Option B: FFmpeg on a VPS
Use this if you are comfortable managing a virtual server and command-line processes. Configure FFmpeg to send the prepared audio-video feed to YouTube, run it in the background, and set up a process supervisor or restart policy so it can recover after an encoder exit. A VPS avoids dependence on a home desktop session, but requires server setup and a recurring hosting service. No particular provider, price, or reliability level is established here.

How the continuous feed relates to YouTube broadcasts
YouTube’s API documentation distinguishes the audio-video stream sent by the encoder from the broadcast viewers see. Its example describes a 24/7 broadcast continuing while a separate broadcast begins and ends, which can be useful if you later want event broadcasts associated with a persistent feed. 4. Connect the encoder and test before going public
- Create the live stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream, and use the stream settings displayed there to connect your encoder. The exact labels can vary as YouTube updates Studio.
- Keep the stream key private. Enter it only in the encoder or service you intend to use. Treat it like a password: someone with access may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Run an unlisted test. YouTube’s music-creator guidance recommends testing an unlisted stream. Confirm that the watch page appears as expected and that the visual and audio both reach YouTube.
- Check the full playback chain. Listen for clipping, silence, dropouts, or abrupt transitions; verify the artwork or visual is present; and let the playlist run long enough to catch gaps or repeat behavior.
- Review the public-facing details. Set an accurate title and description, and ensure the artwork and any displayed text are appropriate for the music and rights you have cleared.

Set up a way to notice encoder exits, network loss, machine restarts, and silence. On a local computer, this means monitoring the machine and its connection as well as OBS. On a VPS, use a background service and restart policy, while still checking that the feed is actually reaching YouTube. Automatic restart can reduce manual recovery time; it cannot guarantee uninterrupted playback.

If YouTube interrupts the stream, check YouTube Studio for warnings, restrictions, or matched content. Identify the recording or composition at issue and resolve the rights or allowlisting problem with the relevant owner before resuming. Do not move a restricted stream to another channel to get around the restriction: YouTube says restrictions may carry a live-streaming strike and prohibits using another channel to circumvent a live-stream restriction. 6. Compare the practical ways to keep the stream running
| Approach | Setup and what must stay available | Recovery and trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo (cloud) | Upload the recording or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. | Automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. One flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps; the first day is free with no card. |
| OBS on a local computer | Graphical scene and encoder setup; the computer, power, network, and desktop session must remain available. | Configure reconnect or restart and monitor the machine. Power or network loss can stop the encoder. |
| FFmpeg on a VPS | Command-line setup; a hosted server process and network connection must remain available. | Use a supervisor or restart policy and monitor the feed. It requires server administration and recurring hosting; no provider price or reliability is established here. |
The OBS and VPS descriptions are implementation options, not independent reliability tests. StreamNeo is the cloud option for keeping a YouTube feed running without leaving a computer on, at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with the first day free.
Or let it run in the cloud
- Upload your recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home. StreamNeo streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Every slot includes 10 GB storage, pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team; the same features apply on every plan, with only the billing length changing. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. Visit StreamNeo for details, then start your free first day.
7. Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Live streaming is unavailable in Studio | The channel may not be verified, may have a live-stream restriction, or may not have completed activation. | Check channel verification and restrictions in YouTube Studio, and allow time for activation; YouTube’s music-creator guidance recommends enabling live streaming at least 24 hours before the planned start. |
| YouTube replaces or interrupts the feed | A third-party music match, rights issue, or Content ID allowlisting gap. | Check Studio for the warning or matched content. Contact the owner or distributor to resolve the rights issue and ask about allowlisting the channel before resuming. |
| The stream stops after the computer or server disconnects | The encoder process, power, or network connection ended. | Restore the connection, restart the encoder, and review monitoring and restart settings. A VPS supervisor can restart a process, but does not remove the need to verify the feed. |
| The live page is up but there is no sound or visual | The audio source or visual scene may not be reaching the encoder, or the playlist may have a gap. | Test the complete audio-video chain with an unlisted stream, check source selection and transitions, and listen through a full playlist cycle. |
| The stream key no longer connects | The encoder may be using a stale or incorrect key, or the key may have been changed. | Compare the encoder’s configured key with the current stream settings in YouTube Studio. Keep the replacement key private. |
8. Understand the audience statistic in context
YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide figure, not an estimate of Gujarati garba listeners or a forecast of viewership for a new channel. YouTube for Artists
