How to Run a 24/7 YouTube Stream of Relaxing Music from Cloud Storage

A 24/7 music stream needs more than cloud storage: learn how to loop cleared recordings through a cloud livestream service or OBS, connect YouTube safely, and plan for copyright and archiving.

You can run a 24/7 YouTube stream of relaxing music without leaving your computer on by using a cloud livestream service that uploads and plays your media, loops it, and sends the broadcast to YouTube. Cloud storage alone is not enough: something must fetch and play the files, assemble the audio and video, and keep an encoder connection running.

Choose how the stream will run

There are two practical approaches. A cloud livestream service handles media playback and the YouTube connection remotely. A do-it-yourself setup uses an encoder such as OBS on a computer or hosted virtual machine; that machine and its network connection must remain available for the broadcast.

Approach What runs the broadcast What you manage
StreamNeo (cloud) StreamNeo loops uploaded videos and sends the stream to YouTube. Upload your media, add the YouTube stream key, and start the stream. StreamNeo provides one always-on stream per slot, playlists, 10 GB of pooled storage per slot across active slots, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Every plan supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps; the price is per slot, and only the billing length changes. See StreamNeo.
Another cloud livestream service A provider hosts uploaded media and runs the playout and encoder. Check its supported media, playlist and scheduling controls, storage limits, stream-key handling, asset replacement and retrieval, and price. YouTube’s encoder directory describes Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos; Gyre’s own workflow uses media uploaded to its storage, a playlist, and a YouTube connection. YouTube’s encoder directory · Gyre.
OBS on a computer or virtual machine Your computer or hosted VM runs the playlist playback and encoder. Keep the machine and network running, maintain the playlist and OBS configuration, and handle interruptions. OBS is free and open-source and is listed in YouTube’s encoder directory. OBS Project.

A general cloud drive such as Google Drive or Dropbox is file storage, not a broadcast system. The workflow described by Gyre, for example, uploads files into Gyre Storage; it does not establish direct integration with those named drives. StreamNeo likewise uses uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera, and streams to YouTube.

Clear the music and visuals before you upload

Confirm that your rights cover public YouTube livestreaming, the territories where you expect the stream to be available, monetization if intended, and any replay you plan to keep. “Royalty-free” by itself does not establish those permissions. Keep written license terms and any rights-holder confirmation.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If it detects third-party material, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license may not be enough to prevent an interruption: the rights holder may also need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.

Use only music and visuals cleared for your use. A playlist with enough variation can make a long broadcast less repetitive, but there is no established ideal playlist length. Keep your source masters and proof of rights somewhere you can retrieve them independently of the streaming service.

Prepare YouTube Live Control Room

  1. Enable live streaming early. In YouTube Studio, choose Create → Go Live. First-time live activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until the planned launch.
  2. Create or schedule the broadcast. In Live Control Room, create a stream or schedule one. The interface provides the stream details and preview workflow.
  3. Copy the connection details. Copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube into the cloud service or encoder. Treat the key like a password; do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast on your channel.
  4. Regenerate a compromised key. If you think someone else has obtained it, replace it in YouTube and update the service or encoder using the new key.

YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the Live Control Room connection process. Managed cloud services may hide some connection settings, but they still need the correct YouTube stream details.

Upload and configure a cloud playlist

With StreamNeo

  1. Upload your cleared recording or recordings to StreamNeo.
  2. Build the playlist you want played continuously.
  3. Add your YouTube stream key once and start the stream.

StreamNeo runs the playback from the cloud, so your home computer and connection do not have to stay on. Its stream uses the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, without re-encoding or quality tiers. Storage is 10 GB per slot, pooled across your active slots.

With another cloud service

Follow the provider’s current upload and playlist workflow, then connect the YouTube stream using the server URL and key from Live Control Room. For Gyre, the vendor describes uploading videos to its storage, making a playlist, connecting YouTube, and starting the broadcast; it also describes automatic playlist looping and a built-in converter. These are vendor feature descriptions, not independent reliability findings. Review its current storage and plan limits on Gyre’s plan page before uploading a large library.

Do-it-yourself: run a continuous playlist with OBS

OBS can send a live feed to YouTube, but OBS itself does not remove the need for an available playback machine. On a home computer, power, network, operating-system updates, and OBS all become part of the broadcast. A hosted VM can move that responsibility off your desk, but it still needs a configured, running encoder and media source.

  1. Install OBS from the OBS Project and prepare a local playlist of rights-cleared media. Use video files with the audio already included if that suits your setup; test every file and transition before scheduling.
  2. Set up the scene and playback source. Add the media source or sources needed for your visual and audio. Configure playback to loop, and confirm that the playlist returns to its start after the last item. The exact source controls can vary with the media source or playlist method you choose.
  3. Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube if available, and connect the account or enter the stream key from Live Control Room. If entering details manually, use YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Keep the key private.
  4. Use RTMPS when available. Choose YouTube’s secure RTMPS ingest option if the encoder exposes a choice. Google documents RTMPS as RTMP over SSL and specifies a valid RTMPS endpoint, port 443, and an SNI hostname for authentication. Some managed connections abstract these details. Google’s RTMPS documentation.
  5. Start with an unlisted or private test. Check that YouTube receives the feed, audio is audible and synchronized, the visual behaves as intended, playlist transitions work, and Live Control Room shows stream health. Do this before announcing a public schedule.
  6. Keep the encoder environment available. For a home setup, disable sleep and make sure the machine can remain powered and connected. For a VM, configure the media files and OBS session there and verify that the process remains active after disconnecting from your remote session.

Do not guess a bitrate, resolution, or keyframe interval from a generic 24/7 recipe: the cited YouTube and vendor material here does not establish recommended values for this particular source media, connection, and encoder. Start with settings compatible with your files and available upload capacity, then use YouTube’s stream-health feedback and test playback to identify problems.

OBS release details are version-specific, not current setup requirements: the OBS Project’s March 14, 2024 announcement says version 30.1 added YouTube e-RTMP features and HDR streaming support with HEVC, while version 30.0 included a Live Control Room panel. OBS 30.1 release announcement.

Test the broadcast and plan its archive

Before going public, preview the stream in Live Control Room and check audio level, synchronization, visual continuity, and playlist transitions. Verify the YouTube stream-health display rather than assuming that a successful encoder connection means viewers are receiving a clean feed. The steps above are a practical check, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.

YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A continuous 24/7 broadcast exceeds that stated window, so do not expect one endless stream to become a complete replay. If you need replays, consider ending and starting scheduled segments within the documented archive window, and keep the original playlist separately. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.

Compare operating burden, storage, and cost

Cloud hosting shifts continuous playback and encoding off your own computer, but it does not settle music rights, YouTube policy, or audience growth. A local OBS setup avoids a cloud-streaming subscription but requires you to keep and maintain the playback environment. Before choosing a provider, check storage capacity, how you can replace or retrieve uploaded assets, playlist and scheduling features, recovery behavior, stream-key handling, and the billing term that suits your channel. No provider’s feature list establishes guaranteed uptime or a particular number of viewers.

StreamNeo offers a free first day per account with no card required, then flexible billing terms; UPI and cards are supported in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. One slot is one always-on stream; 5 or more slots can be discussed with support. The listed billing options are:
