You can run a continuous YouTube stream over ACT Fibernet if your connection sustains the encoder’s upload bitrate with headroom and the exact ACT plan permits your use. An advertised plan speed is not an upload guarantee or an uptime commitment. Check the plan for your city, measure upload performance where you will stream, and test the full setup before relying on it.
What you need to confirm before going live
- Channel eligibility: Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Enable livestreaming ahead of time; YouTube advises setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes early. Check the Live Control Room preview before you begin. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains eligibility and setup.
- Upload capacity: Measure sustained upload speed at the streaming computer, not just download speed or the plan’s advertised headline rate.
- ACT plan terms: Confirm the current plan and terms for your city, including post-FUP speed and whether your intended use is permitted.
- Continuity expectations: A residential broadband plan is not proof of uninterrupted service. No ACT uptime statistic or upload guarantee for an unspecified plan is established here.
Choose stream settings that fit the connection
YouTube’s live encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingestion, H.264, H.265 (HEVC) and AV1 video codecs, frame rates up to 60 fps, CBR bitrate encoding, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts data in transit to Google’s servers. Select bitrate values from its live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions table for the codec and resolution you actually use; do not substitute video-upload bitrate guidance.
| H.264 ingest resolution and frame rate | YouTube recommended bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p30 | 8 Mbps |
| 720p60 | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p30 | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s listed recommended H.264 encoder bitrates, not guarantees that ACT will sustain the required upload at your address. Its settings page includes other codecs and minimums as well.
Measure upload speed and leave headroom
- Connect the streaming computer to the router by Ethernet where possible. YouTube recommends Ethernet for computer-based live streaming; a particular cable category such as Cat 6 is not a requirement established by that advice. YouTube filming tips cover the wired connection recommendation.
- Measure upload performance at the premises and at times representative of your planned stream. Repeat the check rather than relying on a single result.
- Compare the available upload capacity with the encoder’s total stream bitrate. YouTube advises that the total bitrate should not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends 20% extra bandwidth headroom. Leave room for other household devices and network traffic. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- If the connection cannot keep that margin consistently, lower resolution, frame rate, or bitrate and test again. A speed test does not establish that service will remain stable around the clock.
Configure and test the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, choose the encoder method, and configure the stream. YouTube’s Live Control Room options include stream key and URL, latency, DVR, and auto-start/auto-stop; review what each option does before changing it. See YouTube’s Live Control Room guidance.
- In your encoder, choose the matching resolution, frame rate, codec, CBR mode, bitrate, and keyframe interval. Use RTMPS if your encoder and workflow support it.
- Run an unlisted test using representative audio and moving video. Watch the Live Control Room preview and stream-health notices. YouTube recommends testing with the material and conditions you expect to use; connectivity disruptions can interrupt a live stream. Its streaming tips also discuss monitoring.
- For a long-running setup, plan how you will notice and respond to critical errors. YouTube recommends testing failover with a backup encoder where the setup supports one. A backup only helps if it is configured and tested; do not assume one is available by default. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
Check ACT’s FUP and permitted-use terms
ACT’s broadband plans are listed by city, and plan speeds and post-FUP rates vary. Its published unlimited-plan terms describe maximum data limits of 3,300 GB per month or above, depending on the subscribed tariff; after the applicable limit, FUP throttling applies until the next billing cycle. “Unlimited” therefore does not necessarily mean no threshold or unchanged speed. Check the current city-specific plan and terms on ACT’s broadband plans page.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
ACT’s published unlimited-plan terms state that residential plans are for personal use and exclude commercial use. If the stream is commercial or business-critical, ask ACT about an appropriate enterprise service and get permitted-use and continuity terms in writing. The published material does not establish an enterprise SLA or an always-on guarantee. Read the current ACT terms and conditions for the applicable service before depending on it.
Troubleshoot common interruptions
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or change |
|---|---|---|
| Stream health reports instability or viewers see buffering | Upload capacity is too close to bitrate, fluctuates, or is shared with other traffic. | Check sustained upload, reduce encoder bitrate or output resolution/frame rate, reduce competing traffic, and repeat a realistic test with Ethernet. |
| Stream fails to start or shows a critical error | Channel eligibility, encoder configuration, stream key/URL, or connection issue. | Review channel eligibility, verify the Live Control Room stream key and URL in the encoder, check encoder settings, and inspect YouTube’s stream-health notices. |
| Performance changes after substantial use | The plan may have reached its applicable FUP threshold and been throttled. | Check the city-specific ACT tariff and usage terms, including post-FUP speed; do not assume the advertised plan speed continues after the threshold. |
| Stream stops during a broadband disruption | The connection or service was interrupted; residential broadband does not establish continuous availability. | Check ACT service status and connection, then restart or use a tested backup encoder if your setup supports one. Confirm whether your ACT plan includes any written continuity commitment. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel playing uploaded videos, StreamNeo runs the loop in the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Copyright and channel-policy checks for continuous video
Before looping recordings or playlists, make sure you have the rights needed to stream every video and audio track. YouTube’s copyright rules and live-streaming restrictions still apply to a continuous stream; an encoder or broadband connection does not grant permission to use third-party material. Review YouTube’s copyright guidance and make sure your content complies with its policies. Repeated or reused material should not be assumed eligible for monetization simply because you own or can upload the file; review the current YouTube Partner Program policies for your channel and content.
