You can run a 24/7 study-music stream from India with OBS by enabling YouTube Live, connecting OBS to a YouTube encoder stream, and keeping the computer and a stable upload connection running continuously. Before going public, test the music rights, audio, stream health, reconnection behavior, and archive expectations: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so a continuous 24-hour broadcast should not be treated as a guaranteed full-day recording.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified, has live streaming enabled, and has no live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of your planned launch. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains the access requirements.
- A computer running OBS Studio and a sustained internet upload connection. OBS is the encoder; the computer must remain on and connected while it sends the broadcast.
- Music and visuals you have permission to use in a YouTube live broadcast. Owning a file or having permission for personal listening does not by itself establish live-stream rights.
- A stream title, description, thumbnail or visual, and a plan for monitoring and restarting the broadcast if the computer, network, or stream fails.
The workflow is the same for a creator in India as elsewhere. No particular Indian ISP speed or local power condition is established here; measure the connection you will actually use rather than assuming a country-wide upload figure.
Clear the music rights before building the stream
YouTube’s livestream terms make the creator responsible for having the necessary rights to use Live Content worldwide, including music licensing rights and applicable territorial permissions. Read the YouTube livestream terms and confirm your license explicitly covers a YouTube live broadcast, the territories you intend to reach, and any replay or archive use you expect.
YouTube may detect third-party material during a live stream. A matched broadcast can be replaced with a placeholder and then interrupted or terminated. Even if you have a license, the rightsholder may need to allowlist your channel for Content ID. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

- Do not assume a track cleared for a regular video, a streaming subscription, or personal listening is cleared for a 24/7 live broadcast.
- YouTube Creator Music guidance says tracks used under the described licensing or revenue-sharing arrangements cannot be used in a live stream; do not treat Creator Music as clearance for this format. Check YouTube’s Creator Music usage details.
Enable YouTube Live and create an encoder stream
- In YouTube, verify your channel and enable live streaming. If this is the channel’s first time going live, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Open YouTube Studio and choose the option to create or schedule a live stream. Select an encoder-based stream rather than a webcam workflow.
- Open the stream settings and copy the YouTube server URL and stream key. YouTube’s Manage live stream settings page describes the key as the encoder’s password and address. Keep it private: anyone with the key may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Choose the intended privacy setting for setup and testing. Private or unlisted testing lets you check the feed before a public launch; confirm who can access the watch page under the selected setting.
Set up OBS for the music stream
- Install and open OBS Studio. From the Tools menu, run Auto-Configuration Wizard and follow the prompts to set an initial configuration. OBS notes that performance depends on your computer and the output you choose; treat the wizard as a starting point, not proof that a 24/7 setup is stable.
- Create a scene for the stream. Add a still image, animation, or other visual source you are authorized to use. Add the audio source for the cleared music, such as media played on the computer or an audio input, according to your chosen setup.
- Play the source and watch the Audio Mixer meters. Confirm that the music registers, is not clipping, and is audible in the stream preview. Check that the scene does not expose private desktop notifications or unrelated audio.
- Open Settings → Stream. Select YouTube if available, then connect the account or enter the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. If entering details manually, verify the URL and key carefully before saving.
- Open Settings → Output and configure the encoder and bitrate appropriate for the computer, chosen resolution, and measured sustained upload speed. Use OBS’s wizard suggestions as a baseline and test for dropped frames and encoder overload. There is no single bitrate suitable for every resolution, frame rate, encoder, and connection.
- Set a consistent video resolution and frame rate in Settings → Video, then ensure the stream output is compatible with the YouTube stream settings. A static visual does not remove the need for a stable encoded feed.
- Click Start Streaming only when ready to send the feed. Return to YouTube Studio and wait for the incoming preview and stream health status before making the event public or announcing it.
OBS’s official Quick Start Guide recommends running a short test before relying on a setup.
Choose an upload speed and bitrate that can hold overnight
The relevant figure is sustained upload speed, not download speed or the peak shown in a brief speed test. YouTube states: “The total bitrate you’re streaming cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available.” Its guidance recommends keeping 20% bandwidth headroom beyond the aggregate stream bitrate. That margin is a planning recommendation, not a guarantee from an Indian ISP.

OBS’s connection troubleshooting guidance suggests using 75% of total upload speed as a starting point for bitrate when troubleshooting. This is not a universal platform requirement and does not replace YouTube’s headroom guidance. If OBS drops frames, reduce bitrate or output demands and test again. Read OBS’s Stream Connection Troubleshooting alongside YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Test upload at different times, including the hours when you expect to broadcast, and use the weakest sustained result rather than a single peak.
- Leave capacity for ordinary network variation and other household or office traffic; a connection shared with downloads or video calls can become unstable.
- Use Ethernet where practical and avoid changing the network, encoder settings, or computer workload during a long broadcast.
- If you cannot maintain the chosen bitrate with headroom, lower the bitrate and/or resolution and test the lower setting before going live.
Test the stream before making it public
- Start an unlisted or private test stream and check that YouTube Studio receives the OBS signal and displays a preview.
- Open the watch page on the devices and connections your intended audience may use. Check picture, music volume, and whether the chosen privacy setting behaves as intended.
- Let the test run long enough to reveal network instability. Watch OBS for dropped frames or encoder overload and YouTube Studio for stream health warnings.
- Test the recovery procedure: confirm you know how to reconnect OBS and verify the YouTube event after a network interruption. YouTube recommends testing failover and monitoring audio/video quality; it does not guarantee uninterrupted service.
- Check that the visual and music loop behave as intended, including transitions and any gaps or silence at loop boundaries.
- Only then schedule or make the intended stream public, and keep a way to monitor OBS and YouTube Studio during operation.
Plan for 24/7 operation and YouTube’s archive limit
A local OBS stream runs only while the computer, OBS process, power, and internet connection keep working. For continuous operation, plan for a restart and monitoring routine. A backup encoder, reliable power, and a wired network may reduce single points of failure, but they are operational precautions—not mandatory YouTube requirements or guarantees of uptime.

YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that a 24-hour broadcast will produce one complete archive. If a complete recording matters, record a local copy where your computer and storage can support it, and verify the result rather than relying on the live archive. See YouTube’s encoder streaming guide.
Monetization and audience features
Depending on channel eligibility, YouTube may make live ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, or channel memberships available. Ad delivery is not guaranteed, so do not build a cost plan around a promised number of ad impressions or revenue. YouTube describes the available features and conditions in its live-streaming help and live-stream monetization guidance.

The stream buffers or OBS reports dropped frames
These symptoms commonly point to network capacity or stability. Stop other uploads, test sustained upload, reduce bitrate or resolution, and retest with bandwidth headroom. Use OBS’s connection troubleshooting guidance rather than assuming the advertised ISP speed is available continuously.
The stream disconnects after running for a while
Check power-saving settings, sleep behavior, computer load, router stability, and whether the ISP connection changes or drops. Ensure OBS reconnect settings and your own monitoring/restart plan are understood, then run a longer test. Recovery behavior should be verified on your setup, not assumed.
YouTube interrupts the music stream
Review YouTube’s copyright notice and identify the matched track. A permission document may not prevent automated matching unless the rightsholder has allowlisted the channel. Replace or remove material you cannot document as cleared for live use.
The live page exists but the full broadcast is not archived
YouTube’s automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours. For longer continuous broadcasts, do not assume a complete archive; make and check an independent recording if you need one.

If you would rather not keep OBS, a computer, and a home connection running, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream looping from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; StreamNeo streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. In India, UPI works as well as cards. This is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
