For a reliable setup, configure a compatible encoder for 3840×2160 at 60 fps, allow about 20% upload headroom above the video bitrate, and test the actual loop while watching YouTube’s stream health.
Check whether your Tata Play Fiber connection has enough upload capacity
YouTube’s recommended 4K/60 video bitrate depends on the codec. With AV1 or H.265, the recommendation is 35 Mbps; with H.264, it is 50 Mbps. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload headroom. Applying that margin to the video bitrate gives about 42 Mbps for AV1/H.265 or 60 Mbps for H.264, before adding audio bitrate or accounting for other household traffic. The headroom figures are calculations from YouTube’s recommendation, not separate YouTube measurements. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance and its streaming tips.
Tata Play Fiber’s streaming page advertises symmetrical upload and download tiers of 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps and 1 Gbps. Those listed rates exceed the recommended ingest rates above, but they do not establish the sustained upload available at your address or the route from your connection to YouTube. Confirm which plan is available locally, then test your own line under realistic conditions. Check Tata Play Fiber’s advertised streaming plans.
- Measure upload from the computer and network you will use for the stream, preferably while other devices are using the connection as they normally would.
- Compare sustained upload—not just download speed—with the encoder’s total bitrate plus the headroom margin.
- Use Ethernet from the encoder computer to the router if practical. It avoids depending on a variable Wi-Fi link for that local connection, but cannot guarantee the provider’s upload capacity or route to YouTube.

Create the event and protect the stream key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder stream.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the event into your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel.
- Set up your video file or playlist as a looping source in the encoder. Loop controls differ by software, so check the current instructions for the encoder you choose rather than assuming a particular menu or toggle.
- Start the encoder, check the Live Control Room preview and stream health, and start the event in Live Control Room if the selected stream settings require it.
YouTube documents the event and encoder workflow, but loop-source controls are specific to the encoder. Before publishing, test the intended file and playlist transitions for continuous audio, correct resolution and frame rate, and a healthy incoming stream. The official setup overview is at YouTube Help.
Set the encoder for 4K at 60 fps
- Resolution and frame rate: 3840×2160 at 60 fps.
- Codec and video bitrate: Choose a codec supported by both your encoder and YouTube. YouTube lists 35 Mbps as the recommended 4K/60 video bitrate for AV1 or H.265, and 50 Mbps for H.264. Its listed minimums are 10 Mbps for AV1/H.265 and 14 Mbps for H.264; these are minimums, not a reliability target.
- Rate control: Constant bitrate (CBR).
- Keyframes: Set a 2-second interval; do not exceed 4 seconds.
- Protocol: YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS and recommends RTMPS. Use it if your encoder offers it.
- Latency: YouTube’s 4K streams use normal latency; low-latency mode is unavailable at 4K.
- Audio and total upload: Include audio bitrate when checking total outgoing bandwidth. Keep capacity beyond the full stream bitrate, and remember that shared network use can reduce what is available to the encoder.
These specifications are from YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance. Codec availability depends on the encoder you use; if it cannot produce a supported codec and settings combination, select a supported option rather than forcing an incompatible configuration.

Test before relying on the loop
- Run a speed test on the actual wired or Wi-Fi connection the encoder will use. YouTube specifically advises testing upload bitrate; a single result is a snapshot, not proof of sustained performance.
- Start an unlisted or otherwise suitable test event using the actual loop file, audio, resolution, frame rate and bitrate.
- Watch YouTube’s preview and stream-health indicators while the test runs. Check for dropped frames, bitrate instability, audio gaps, incorrect resolution or frame rate, and problems at playlist transitions.
- Repeat under typical household network load. If the upload becomes unstable, reduce competing network use or select a bitrate the line can sustain with headroom; lowering bitrate may mean stepping away from the recommended 4K/60 settings.
Do not treat an advertised plan rate or one successful short test as a guarantee of uninterrupted streaming. YouTube advises monitoring the stream and leaving bandwidth headroom in its streaming tips.
Plan for long-running streams and archives
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, including 1440p and 2160p streams. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If you need an automatic archive, consider scheduling loop segments shorter than 12 hours; if retaining the full event matters, make a local recording as well. See YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance.

Troubleshoot common 4K/60 loop problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube reports poor stream health or the feed drops | Upload capacity is insufficient or fluctuating, or other devices are consuming bandwidth. | Check sustained upload during the stream, leave the recommended headroom, reduce competing traffic, and test Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. |
| The encoder cannot connect | Incorrect event server URL or stream key, or a mismatch between the encoder and YouTube settings. | Copy the URL and key for the intended event again, verify the encoder’s supported protocol and codec, and keep the key private. |
| The live feed is not 4K/60 | The source, encoder output, or incoming stream may be set to a lower resolution or frame rate. | Confirm the source and encoder are set to 3840×2160 and 60 fps, then inspect the YouTube preview and stream status. |
| Stuttering, dropped frames or audio gaps appear during a loop | The connection may be unstable, the encoder may not sustain the chosen output, or the source transition may interrupt playback. | Test the complete file and playlist transitions; monitor stream health and audio; verify the bitrate is sustainable and the encoder can maintain the selected settings. |
| The event has no complete automatic archive | The stream exceeded 12 hours, after which YouTube may not capture it. | Use shorter segments if an automatic archive matters, or record locally to retain the full event. |
Or let it run in the cloud
For a pre-recorded YouTube loop that should keep running without a computer at home, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; video streams as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly access is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
