You can keep a prerecorded Hindi playlist streaming to YouTube without leaving your personal computer on by running an encoder on an always-on DigitalOcean Droplet. YouTube supplies the ingest URL and stream key; the Droplet sends the video feed. The cloud server does not remove the need to manage the encoder, monitor failures, budget for outbound data, and handle YouTube session limits.
This guide covers the verified YouTube and DigitalOcean steps, plus the implementation decisions you must test yourself. The available official guidance does not establish a tested playlist-loop command, minimum Droplet size, or automatic restart design, so those are not presented as ready-made instructions.
How the setup works
Your DigitalOcean Droplet is the always-on computer running an encoder and supplying video and audio to YouTube Live. YouTube hosts the live playback for viewers. The encoder connects to the server URL and stream key shown in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
A playlist that plays continuously requires software and a process configuration on the Droplet that selects and loops the recordings. The sources cited here do not verify a particular encoder command, playlist syntax, Linux image, firewall configuration, or process supervisor. Choose and validate those components for your operating system and media files before relying on them for a public broadcast.

Check channel eligibility and prepare the content
Confirm live streaming is enabled
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If this is your channel’s first live stream, enablement can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube Help. Check eligibility and enable live streaming before scheduling a launch.
Clear rights for every recording
Before putting Hindi songs, film music, bhajans, kirtan, Gurbani, or other recordings into a public stream, confirm that you have the rights needed for worldwide live use. Owning a copy or having permission to upload a recording does not necessarily establish live-streaming rights for every musical work and recording in it.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may interrupt the stream; even licensed material can be interrupted if the relevant rights owner has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube’s livestream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”
Create the YouTube Live destination
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. Follow the current on-screen workflow for the stream’s title, visibility, and scheduling.
- Locate the stream URL and stream key in the encoder settings for that broadcast. Enter these in the encoder running on your Droplet so it knows where to send the feed.
- Keep the key private. Treat it like a password: do not include it in screenshots, public repositories, or shared logs. If it is exposed, replace or rotate it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder configuration.

Set up the Droplet and playlist process
Create an always-on Droplet in the DigitalOcean account where you will run your chosen encoder. Install an encoder and configure it to read the playlist media, produce a continuous feed, and send that feed to YouTube with the URL and key from Live Control Room. Select an operating-system image and Droplet capacity based on the encoder and media workload you actually intend to run; no minimum size or specific Linux distribution is established here.
Do not assume that a playlist automatically repeats or that the sending process restarts correctly after an interruption. Validate the playlist behavior, encoder exit behavior, logging, and restart strategy on your chosen software and operating system. In particular, a process restart on the server and a new YouTube live session are separate events that may need separate monitoring and handling.

Choose encoder settings and test before going public
Use YouTube’s current encoder settings table for the codec, resolution, and frame rate you choose instead of applying one bitrate to every video. YouTube recommends RTMPS when supported, constant bitrate (CBR), and a keyframe interval of two seconds; do not exceed four seconds. Check the current guidance because supported settings and recommendations can change.
Before making the playlist public, run a private or unlisted test. Confirm that the stream reaches YouTube, audio is audible, moving video is present, and Live Control Room reports healthy stream status. Check playback on a mobile device as well as your desktop, and observe what happens when the encoder process stops or the connection is interrupted. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health; the cited guidance does not guarantee that a single session can run forever.

Plan for YouTube session limits and recovery
YouTube Help says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That is not a guarantee that a live session will continue indefinitely, and it does not establish a specific restart procedure for a 24/7 playlist. Design and test how the encoder and YouTube broadcast transition when a session ends or drops; monitor both the Droplet process and the Live Control Room rather than assuming that one will recover the other.
Estimate DigitalOcean bandwidth costs
Continuous video uses outbound transfer. Estimate the data volume from the encoder’s actual output bitrate and the hours streamed, then compare it with the Droplet plan’s included transfer. DigitalOcean pools outbound transfer allowances across Droplets at the team level; additional outbound transfer is billed at $0.01 per GiB under its current Droplet Pricing documentation. Your actual bill depends on the plan, team usage, runtime, and chosen bitrate, so there is no single reliable total for every 24/7 channel.
Check your team’s current allowance and usage in DigitalOcean before launch and monitor them during operation. DigitalOcean’s pricing documentation: Droplet pricing and included transfer.
