Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To rerun Tabletop Simulator gameplay on YouTube Live, send either a live game capture or a video recording through an encoder such as OBS Studio to a YouTube Live event. Live capture shows a game as it happens; a prerecorded rerun plays a prepared recording without an active game session. In either case, YouTube must be enabled for live streaming, and you should test the encoder and preview before starting the event.
Choose what “rerun” means for your stream
| Workflow | What viewers see | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Live gameplay capture | The Tabletop Simulator session currently running on your computer, with optional live commentary. | Live play, interaction, and commentary tied to the current session. |
| Prerecorded video | A recording of earlier gameplay sent to YouTube as a live feed. | A rerun that should play without an active game session. |
Both workflows use an encoder to send video to YouTube. Valve’s Steamworks documentation describes streaming existing video files with OBS, but it does not establish the exact current OBS controls for endlessly repeating a file. Check the repeat or loop behavior in your installed OBS version and test it before relying on unattended playback. Valve’s livestreaming documentation
Check channel eligibility before setup
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days, and streamers must be at least 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable the feature well ahead of a scheduled rerun. Review YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
Set up and start the rerun with OBS
- Prepare the source. For a live session, open Tabletop Simulator and plan which game window or screen to capture. For a recording, have the video file ready and add it as an OBS source. Confirm the file plays with the intended audio, and test the repeat setting in your OBS version if the rerun should loop.
- Create the YouTube event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a live stream. Choose the encoder workflow and copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the event. YouTube may take up to 24 hours to enable live streaming for a newly activated channel.
- Connect OBS to YouTube. In OBS, open the stream settings and enter the YouTube stream URL and key, or use the available account connection workflow. Treat the key as a password: anyone with it can send a feed to your event. Do not publish it or show it on stream.
- Build the picture and sound. Add the game capture or recording source, then check that the correct window, game image, and audio are present. A microphone or camera is optional; separate capture hardware is not established as necessary for the basic same-computer workflow.
- Choose compatible encoder settings. Use a resolution and frame rate your computer and upload connection can sustain. YouTube recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval; it says the interval should not exceed four seconds. H.264, HEVC, and AV1 are among the supported video codecs, but availability depends on the encoder and settings you use. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrate, and resolution guidance.
- Check bandwidth and preview. Compare the encoder’s total bitrate with your actual upload capacity and leave headroom. YouTube recommends upload capacity 20% above the total stream bitrate. Start the encoder’s feed and wait for the Live Control Room preview; check picture, sound, and stability before starting the public event. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Start and monitor the event. Follow the prompts in Live Control Room to start the YouTube event. Keep an eye on the preview and live output, particularly at the beginning, and stop the event and encoder when finished.
- Check the archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a longer stream will have a complete archive.
Settings and hardware that affect reliability
Bitrate, resolution, and keyframes
There is no single bitrate or resolution that suits every Tabletop Simulator stream. Select values supported by the encoder, the chosen codec, and your sustained upload speed; do not size the stream using download speed. Use YouTube’s published recommendations for the selected resolution and frame rate, keep CBR enabled, and use a two-second keyframe interval where available. The 20% upload headroom recommendation helps leave room for network variation rather than running at the connection’s limit.

Can the computer run the game and encode?
Tabletop Simulator’s Steam listing gives minimum requirements, not a guarantee of smooth simultaneous gameplay and encoding. On Windows, it lists 64-bit Windows 10 version 21H1 or newer, 4 GB RAM, DX10-capable graphics, broadband internet, and 3 GB storage. Its listed minimum operating systems also include macOS 12+ and 64-bit Ubuntu 22.04 / 24.04. OBS likewise cautions that meeting its system requirements does not guarantee performance for every workload. Check the current Tabletop Simulator Steam listing and OBS system requirements, then test the game and encoder together.
Do you need a capture card?
For gameplay and encoding on the same computer, a separate capture card is not established as a requirement. YouTube’s encoder workflow supports gameplay, screen sharing, and optional external audio or video hardware. A microphone, camera, or hardware encoder is a production choice, not a prerequisite for sending the basic feed.

Troubleshoot common rerun problems
- You cannot start a live event: Check that the channel is verified, meets YouTube’s age requirement, has no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and has completed first-time activation. Allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- YouTube receives no signal: Confirm OBS is using the stream URL and key for the correct event, the encoder is sending, and the key has not been mistyped or changed. Keep the key private.
- The preview is blank or shows the wrong content: Check that the intended game window or video source is selected and visible in OBS. For prerecorded playback, verify the file path and playback locally before sending the feed.
- The stream stutters or drops frames: Check encoder load and sustained upload capacity. Reduce resolution, frame rate, or bitrate to a level the computer and connection can maintain, and preserve YouTube’s recommended upload headroom.
- There is no sound or it is out of sync: Check the source’s audio routing and OBS meters, then review the Live Control Room preview before starting the event. Test microphone and game audio together if both are used.
- The recording stops instead of repeating: Do not assume OBS repeats a media source by default. Check the repeat control in your installed version, and test a full pass before scheduling an unattended rerun.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: YouTube’s automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours. For longer broadcasts, do not rely on a complete automatic archive.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Only stream gameplay and audio you have permission to broadcast. Tabletop Simulator sessions may include music, video, artwork, or other material supplied by players; permission to use the game does not automatically establish permission for every included asset. Review the rights for all media in the recording or live session, and follow YouTube’s applicable copyright and live-streaming rules. A stream being a rerun does not itself establish that its contents are authorized.
