Yes. A single NGINX RTMP server can forward two incoming streams to two separate YouTube channels. The clearest setup is to give each feed its own NGINX RTMP application, then configure that application to push to the matching YouTube ingest URL and stream key. Test each route independently in YouTube Live Control Room before making either stream public.
How the two-channel setup works
Your encoder publishes each feed to an application on your NGINX server. The nginx-rtmp-module can then use an application-level push directive to relay that feed to YouTube. For two channels, keep the incoming routes and destination credentials distinct so that each feed has an unambiguous path to its intended channel. The module documents the application-level push feature in its README.
The configuration below is a pattern, not a guaranteed drop-in file. YouTube supplies the ingest server URL and stream key for each stream, and the exact outgoing path and stream-name behavior must be confirmed with your installed module build and the URLs shown in Live Control Room.
Configure separate NGINX applications
Use one application for each channel and place only that channel’s YouTube destination credentials in its matching push directive:

Replace each placeholder using the corresponding YouTube stream’s server URL and key. Do not assume that every YouTube ingest URL has the same host or application path, or that a module fork interprets a pushed stream name identically. Check your build’s behavior and test the actual destination path.
Publish each encoder feed to its matching application
Set the encoder’s local publish URL to the server and application for that channel. For example:

- Channel one:
rtmp://<your-server>:1935/channel_one/<input-name> - Channel two:
rtmp://<your-server>:1935/channel_two/<input-name>
The RTMP URL’s application component must match an application {} block; the module README notes that the name is interpreted by the application. Confirm how your specific module build uses the incoming name and constructs the outgoing destination.
Set up and test both YouTube destinations
- Get the credentials for each channel. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the live stream for channel one and copy its server URL and stream key. Repeat separately for channel two. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance explains that an encoder needs the server URL and stream key to send a feed.
- Keep the keys private. A stream key acts as a credential that lets YouTube accept an encoder feed. Do not expose it in a public configuration, screenshot, or repository. If you believe a key has been compromised, reset it in Live Control Room and update only the matching NGINX route. See YouTube’s stream-key guidance.
- Test channel one by itself. Publish a short feed to
channel_one. Confirm that the first channel’s Live Control Room preview receives it and that channel two does not. - Test channel two by itself. Publish to
channel_twoand confirm the inverse: the second preview receives the feed, not the first. Check stream health before taking the feed public. - Test with representative content. Include the audio and motion expected in the real stream, then monitor YouTube’s preview and stream health. YouTube recommends testing representative audio and motion before going live; see its live encoder settings and recommendations.
- Run both together and watch server capacity. The server must send an outbound copy of each active feed. Allow for both streams plus other network traffic; if you transcode outputs separately, check CPU headroom and encoder settings as well. The module documentation covers both push relaying and FFmpeg transcoding.
Choose a routing pattern
| Pattern | Clarity and isolation | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Separate applications | Each route has its own application and destination key, making independent testing straightforward. | Prefer this as the starting point when you want an obvious one-input-per-channel mapping. |
| One application with distinct stream names and conditional routing | Can reduce the number of application blocks, but depends on the module build routing by stream name exactly as intended. | Use only after confirming name-based routing and destination mapping on the deployed build. |
The module README establishes application-level pushes. A reported configuration issue describes an arrangement with separate applications in which both destinations received the first input. That report identifies a possible mapping failure; it does not show that all module versions or configurations behave that way. Clear isolation and preview-by-preview testing matter more than assuming that distinct keys alone guarantee correct routing.

Check YouTube ingest settings
YouTube’s encoder settings page lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest, H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 video, frame rates up to 60 fps, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR) encoding. It recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension to RTMP, a 2-second keyframe interval, and no more than 4 seconds between keyframes. Check the current official settings page when configuring a stream because supported options and recommendations can change.
| YouTube-listed H.264 setting | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s listed ingest bitrates for the named settings, not a measurement or guarantee of your connection. If both channels run at once, plan upstream capacity for both outgoing feeds and other traffic; leave headroom rather than treating the listed recommendations as proof that your link is stable.

Troubleshoot misrouted or unhealthy feeds
- Nothing appears in the expected preview: Check that the encoder publishes to the correct server, port, and application name, and that the application matches an NGINX
application {}block. Verify the matching YouTube server URL and key. - The wrong channel receives the feed, or both channels receive one input: Stop the test, inspect the application-to-push mapping and incoming stream names, and publish to each application separately. Confirm the result in both Live Control Room previews before resuming. Do not assume the issue report describes every build, but treat unintended cross-routing as a configuration error to resolve.
- YouTube rejects the feed or reports a connection problem: Recheck the destination URL and key copied for that exact stream, then review YouTube’s current ingest recommendations and stream-health information. If a key may have been exposed, reset it and update the matching push destination.
- One stream works, but both together are unstable: Check whether the server’s outbound connection can carry both feeds at once, including other network use. If the server transcodes, also inspect CPU load and the encoder configuration.
- The preview connects but stream health is poor: Compare the configured codec, frame rate, bitrate, audio format, and keyframe interval with YouTube’s current settings page; then test again with representative motion and audio.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos running as a 24/7 YouTube stream rather than relay live encoder feeds, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it does not relay a live camera feed. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
