One self-hosted datarhei Restreamer instance can publish the same source to two YouTube channels: create a separate publication service for each channel and enter that channel’s own YouTube RTMP server URL and unique stream key. The official manual allows multiple publication services, though it does not provide a dedicated two-channel walkthrough or specify a minimum server size for two simultaneous outputs.
What you need before setting up both channels
- Live streaming enabled on each YouTube channel. YouTube requires channel verification and live-streaming access. First-time enablement can take at least 24 hours after the request, so do it ahead of the planned broadcast. YouTube Help
- A separate YouTube live event and stream key for each channel. Keep the two channels’ destination details distinct and private.
- A running Restreamer installation with a source ready to publish and capacity for two outgoing streams. The documentation does not state a universal CPU, memory, or network requirement for two simultaneous YouTube outputs.
- Sufficient upload bandwidth. Both outputs consume outbound bandwidth. Estimate their combined target bitrates and leave headroom for network variation.
Set up two YouTube destinations in Restreamer
- Prepare a live event on each channel. In YouTube Live, create or select the event for channel one, then obtain its RTMP server URL and stream key. Repeat for channel two. Verify which channel each set of credentials belongs to; do not reuse channel one’s key for channel two. The Restreamer YouTube guide describes entering the destination as an RTMP URL that includes the streaming ID.
- Create the first publication service. In Restreamer, open publication services and add a YouTube destination. Enter the RTMP URL and key for the first channel, then save the service. The publication-services manual explains that services connect a source to external destinations using streaming credentials.
- Create the second publication service. Add another service for the second YouTube channel. Enter only that channel’s RTMP URL and key. The two separate services are what let one Restreamer instance send the source to both destinations.
- Start both services and check each YouTube event. Start the first service, then the second. In each channel’s YouTube Live control room, confirm the correct event receives a preview and shows a healthy incoming stream. Restreamer’s guide notes that the preview may take a few seconds to appear. Do not assume the second destination is working just because the first one is.
- Check bandwidth and system load while both are running. YouTube’s example uses a 6 Mbps stream and a 4 Mbps stream: 10 Mbps combined, with 15–20 Mbps upload recommended using its 1.5–2× headroom guidance. Those are example figures, not a universal bitrate setting or a guarantee that a particular Restreamer host has enough CPU, memory, or network capacity. Monitor YouTube Stream health and your host’s resource and network use under realistic conditions. YouTube Help
Choose the publication input protocol carefully
Restreamer’s publication manual lists HLS, RTMP, and SRT as input choices. Its documented handoff latencies are protocol figures, not end-to-end latency guarantees for viewers watching on YouTube.
| Protocol | Restreamer-documented handoff latency |
|---|---|
| HLS | At least 10–30 seconds |
| RTMP | 1–2 seconds |
| SRT | Under 1 second |
Use the protocol supported by your source and configuration; these figures alone do not predict how quickly YouTube viewers will see the stream. See the Restreamer publication-services manual for the documented options.
End the broadcast without losing the YouTube replay
If YouTube DVR archiving matters, end the stream through YouTube first, then stop the Restreamer publication services. Restreamer’s YouTube guide warns that interrupting Restreamer mid-stream may prevent YouTube from saving the stream to its DVR archive. Confirm the event has ended in YouTube before stopping the source or disrupting the Restreamer connection. Restreamer YouTube guide

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Common problems and fixes
- Only one channel receives the stream: Check that both publication services exist and are started. Open both YouTube events separately and confirm that each is receiving a preview.
- The second event shows no preview or an error: Recheck that its service uses the second channel’s RTMP URL and stream key, that live streaming is enabled on that channel, and that the event is the intended one. Allow a few seconds for the preview to appear.
- Stream health deteriorates when both services run: Add the two target bitrates together and compare the total with available upload capacity. YouTube recommends planning for 1.5–2× the combined bitrate; also inspect Restreamer host resource use, since the bandwidth estimate does not establish server capacity.
- The replay is missing: If the Restreamer connection was interrupted before YouTube ended the event, the DVR archive may not have been saved. For the next broadcast, end through YouTube before stopping Restreamer.
- Restreamer is unreachable or exposed unexpectedly: Restreamer is self-hosted. Its Quick Start documents a Docker deployment, calls for a secure, unique password, and says public port forwarding is needed for full functionality. Follow the current setup guidance and secure the deployment; do not expose management interfaces casually.
What this setup does—and what it does not establish
This is one source sent to two distinct YouTube destinations, not two independent channel-specific programs. Each destination needs its own credentials. Restreamer’s documentation supports multiple publication services, but does not show the exact current interface for a two-channel configuration side by side or give a minimum server specification for it. Validate the setup on your Restreamer version and host by starting both events, then monitoring each YouTube Stream health panel, outbound traffic, and server resources.
