Add the two outgoing bitrates, then aim for measured upload speed of 1.5–2 times that combined total, as YouTube recommends. Your plan’s advertised speed is not proof of what your connection can sustain at the streaming location.
1. Check that your setup can send two streams
You need two YouTube live events and software or hardware capable of originating a separate stream to each one. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers encoder streaming and first-time live-stream enablement, which can take up to 24 hours: YouTube encoder setup.
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule two live events.
- For each event, configure the streaming software with that event’s stream URL and stream key. Check the event-to-key mapping before going live; sending both outputs to the same event is not the intended two-event setup.
- Confirm that your chosen playlist software can play or loop both playlists and send both outputs at once. The exact process depends on the application; YouTube’s general encoder documentation does not establish a playlist-specific two-stream recipe or guarantee that one computer can encode both reliably.
YouTube explains where to find stream URLs and keys, and how to reuse or reset keys, in its stream settings guide. Treat each key as a credential: do not share it publicly, and reset it if it is exposed.
2. Choose a bitrate for each stream
Set resolution, frame rate and codec for each output, then use YouTube’s encoder recommendations as a starting point. For H.264 at 30 frames per second, YouTube recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p and 3 Mbps for 720p. These are encoder recommendations, not guarantees that a particular connection or computer will handle the stream successfully. See YouTube’s live encoder settings and bitrate recommendations.

The totals and upload targets are arithmetic using YouTube’s bitrate recommendations and its headroom guidance; they are planning figures, not promised performance. If the two outputs use different settings, add their actual target bitrates instead of using either example.
3. Measure JioFiber upload where you will stream
YouTube’s rule is about upload bandwidth: the total bitrate of your streams cannot exceed the upload capacity available. Its simulstream guidance recommends measured upload of 1.5–2 times the combined target bitrate, allowing headroom for variation and shared household use. - Run an upload speed test from the actual streaming location, not just a device elsewhere in the home.
- Test under realistic conditions, with the household devices and services you expect to be active during the streams.
- Compare the measured upload result with the target for your combined bitrate. A download-speed result does not establish sufficient upload capacity.
- If the measured upload is short of the target or varies substantially, reduce the streams’ bitrates or other network use and test again.
Jio’s plan comparison lists examples of symmetrical advertised speeds, including 30, 100 and 150 Mbps: JioFiber plans. Availability and plan details depend on location and should be checked for your address. Advertised plan rates are not a measurement of sustained upload at your home, so use the local test and YouTube’s stream-health indicators to judge the setup.
4. Test both playlists and events before relying on them
- Start both outputs as private or otherwise test them before the intended public broadcast.
- Confirm each playlist reaches the correct YouTube event, and check audio, motion, playlist transitions and whether playback loops as intended.
- Watch the Live Control Room for stream-health alerts on both events while the streams run. YouTube advises testing ahead of time and monitoring stream health.
- If either stream is unstable, lower the bitrate or resolution, reduce competing household upload use, or check whether the computer or encoder is overloaded. Change one factor at a time and retest both streams together.
Playlist automation and simultaneous encoding are software-specific. Verify those functions with the current documentation for your chosen application; a successful speed test alone does not prove that the software can produce both streams.

Troubleshooting two streams on one connection
- One or both streams show poor health: Compare the combined target bitrate with measured upload and YouTube’s 1.5–2× target. Reduce bitrate or other upload traffic, then run another two-stream test.
- One event receives the wrong output: Check the stream URL and key configured for each output against the intended event in Live Control Room.
- Video runs but playlist transitions fail: Check the playlist or looping controls in the software that is playing the uploaded videos. YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not specify those controls.
- The connection test looks fast but the streams still struggle: Retest at the streaming location while normal household traffic is active, and use the live stream-health alerts rather than download speed or the plan name as the deciding measure.
- You cannot start a first-ever live stream: Check whether YouTube live streaming has been enabled for the account; YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
