Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYou can schedule a 24/7 YouTube stream in YouTube Studio, but scheduling only creates the event—it does not keep a live feed running. You still need an encoder sending video continuously, a plan to monitor it, and a separate archive plan if you need a complete recording of a broadcast longer than 12 hours.
Before scheduling, check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If this is your first live stream, activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned start. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions.
Schedule the event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, open Manage > Schedule stream.
- Choose to reuse settings from a previous stream or create a new stream.
- Enter the title, visibility, and scheduled date and time, then save.
You can choose public, private, or unlisted visibility. A scheduled event can appear as upcoming, and viewers may opt in to receive a reminder. Scheduling does not start the video feed; it prepares the event for an encoder to connect. YouTube’s live stream settings guide covers stream controls and settings.
Connect an encoder and start the stream
- In Live Control Room, copy the YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder. YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; the scheduling workflow does not require one particular product.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace the old key in the encoder.
- Start the encoder so it sends video to YouTube. Wait for the incoming feed and preview in Live Control Room, check that the audio and picture are correct, then select Go live when ready.
- To end the broadcast, select End Stream in Live Control Room and stop the encoder from sending content.
For a scheduled 24/7 broadcast, the encoder and its video source must continue sending content after the event begins. YouTube’s instructions explain the encoder connection and start process.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose an encoder and ingest protocol for continuous operation
Software or hardware
YouTube documents both software and standalone hardware encoders. Choose based on the encoder’s documented support for the ingest method you need, its ability to run for long periods, restart or fail over, and the monitoring it provides. No specific encoder model is required by YouTube’s scheduling steps, and using dedicated hardware does not by itself guarantee uninterrupted operation. See YouTube’s encoder overview.
RTMP/RTMPS or HLS
For a typical scheduled stream, use the server URL and key with a protocol supported by your encoder. YouTube’s HLS workflow is intended for HDR or codecs not supported by RTMP; it requires an HLS-capable encoder and has higher latency because it sends video in segments. Check YouTube’s HLS setup guidance before choosing it.

Automatic start and stop controls
Encoder settings may include reusable or custom stream keys and auto-start or auto-stop controls. Confirm exactly how your encoder and YouTube stream settings behave before relying on those controls for an unattended schedule; scheduling the event alone does not automate the continuous feed.
Prepare for outages and monitor the broadcast
YouTube recommends configuring the encoder at least two hours before the event, starting it at least 15 minutes before the planned start, checking the preview, and testing a backup encoder by simulating a failure of the primary. For a 24/7 operation, watch stream health as well as the actual audio and video, and make sure someone or an automated process can respond when the feed stops or degrades. These are preparation recommendations, not an uptime guarantee. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

- Check that audio remains present and the picture is not frozen or blank.
- Test how the encoder and backup behave when the primary feed or connection fails.
- Confirm any auto-start, auto-stop, and stream-key settings against the actual encoder workflow.
Plan an archive separately for streams over 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not promise automatic archiving for a broadcast that runs longer than 12 hours, which includes a continuous 24/7 stream. If preserving the full program matters, create an independent recording or archive plan and verify that it is capturing correctly. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube channel to loop uploaded videos without leaving an encoder computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo plays the uploaded videos from the cloud. It is for YouTube streams, not camera broadcasts.

The scheduled event exists but no preview appears
The event does not send video by itself. Confirm that the encoder is running, is pointed at the correct YouTube Live server URL, and has the current stream key. If the key may have been exposed or replaced, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder.
The preview is present but the stream is not live
After checking the preview, select Go live in Live Control Room. Starting the encoder and making the YouTube event live are distinct actions in this workflow.
The stream stops or loses audio or video
Check the encoder, video source, network path, and stream health; test the backup encoder by simulating a primary failure. YouTube’s operational tips recommend monitoring audio and video, but do not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 feed.
The full broadcast is missing from the archive
Do not rely on YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior for a stream longer than 12 hours. Use and verify an independent recording plan if you need the full continuous program.
