That schedules an event; it does not by itself create a continuous 24/7 program or guarantee that an encoder will keep reconnecting. Plan the playout, monitoring and recordings separately.
Which time zone should you use for an Indian stream?
Publish the schedule in IST (UTC+05:30), with the calendar date and an unambiguous clock time. India does not need separate regional schedule times. The Department of Consumer Affairs described IST’s UTC+05:30 offset in a 2025 announcement and, in a release dated 30 August 2026, described IST as the common reference for official purposes nationwide. That 2026 release says its notified rules take effect 180 days after publication in the Official Gazette; the announcement alone does not establish that they are already in force. For viewers outside India, add a conversion to their local time only if you can keep it accurate as daylight-saving rules change. Keep IST as the source of truth, and include the date so an overnight start is not mistaken for the previous or following day.
Schedule the YouTube live event

Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go live → Manage → Schedule stream. Choose to create a new stream or reuse settings from an earlier one.

Enter the event title, description, visibility and scheduled date and time in IST. Publish or share the upcoming watch page if you want viewers to find the event and use YouTube’s Notify me reminder.

In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder that will send your program feed. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to the stream.

Start the encoder before the scheduled start. Check that the feed appears in the Live Control Room preview, then select Go live when you are ready to begin. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event; these are preparation recommendations, not uptime guarantees. An encoder sends the feed; scheduling does not supply music, video or a playlist. Prepare the program and the process for keeping it running independently of the event page.

Plan the 24/7 operation separately
YouTube’s documented scheduling workflow covers an upcoming event and its launch. It does not establish a recurring schedule that automatically runs forever, nor does it guarantee automatic reconnection if an encoder or connection fails. Before announcing an always-on stream, decide who or what monitors it, how a failed feed is restarted, what viewers see during handoffs, and how recordings are saved.

Local encoder: You control the computer, encoder and restart process. Plan for power, internet and software interruptions, and test any backup-encoder failover before relying on it.

Cloud playout: If considering a service, verify its current YouTube compatibility, restart behavior, monitoring and archive controls before depending on it. “Cloud” alone does not establish those capabilities.
During preparation, check the preview, monitor stream quality and verify that local recordings are growing as expected. Choose a stream length with archiving in mind
YouTube says streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived. It also warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not promise viewers that a continuous 24-hour broadcast will appear as one replay. Keep local recordings if preserving the program matters, and consider planned shorter segments where the resulting interruptions and separate event pages suit your format. Keep the stream and its content eligible
Scheduling a stream does not grant rights to the music, recordings, artwork or video in its program. Before broadcasting, confirm you have permission for every element you use and review YouTube’s current live-streaming rules. A radio-style format is not an exception to copyright requirements. Avoid assuming that a scheduled event or uninterrupted playback guarantees that YouTube will leave the stream available.
