To schedule prerecorded playlist videos as a YouTube livestream for an Indian public holiday, schedule a livestream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and connect an encoder that sends the video feed. A YouTube playlist is only a collection of videos; it does not become a livestream just because you schedule it. If you want one scheduled video or a shared premiere instead, use those separate workflows.
Choose the right YouTube workflow
“Playlist stream” can mean several different things. Choose based on what viewers should experience:

Choose and verify the holiday date
First decide which audience the date is for: a particular Indian state, workplace, school, community, or a wider national audience. Public holidays can differ by state and institution, so check an authoritative calendar for the relevant year and audience before you announce the stream. Do not assume one date list applies to everyone in India.

Allow for the audience’s local time and state the time zone in promotional posts. This matters especially for streams near midnight or for viewers outside India. YouTube documents that a scheduled video’s watch-page publication date is based on Pacific Standard Time; its displayed date can differ from Studio’s for schedules set ahead of PST. That documented note concerns scheduled videos, so check the event date and time shown in Studio for a livestream rather than assuming the same display behavior.
Schedule a holiday livestream in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, go to Create > Go live. Choose Manage, then Schedule Stream. YouTube’s livestream scheduling instructions describe this flow.
- Set up the event. Add a clear title and description, then select the date, time, visibility, and audience settings. Check the displayed date and local time carefully before saving. The cited instructions do not establish the time-zone semantics of the scheduling field, so make the intended zone explicit in your own announcements.
- Save and share the event page. Share the scheduled watch page early so viewers can find it and use any available reminder option. A scheduled event gives you a page to promote before the broadcast.
- Get the stream URL and key. In Live Control Room, retrieve the connection details for the event and enter them in your encoder. YouTube describes the stream key as a credential that tells the encoder where to send the feed; do not publish it or share it with viewers.
- Prepare and start the encoder. Load or queue the prerecorded material in an encoder that can send it as a live feed. Start the encoder before the event, then check the Live Control Room preview. At the scheduled time, use the preview and go-live controls as appropriate for the event.
- Confirm the broadcast is live. Check the public watch page from a viewer’s perspective and monitor the encoder and Live Control Room. YouTube recommends testing the setup and checking the preview before going live (YouTube livestream setup guidance).
Plan and test the prerecorded playlist feed
A YouTube playlist organizes videos, but does not by itself send a live feed to a scheduled event. Your encoder needs to play the prerecorded files in the intended order and transmit that output to the event’s stream URL and key. Test the complete path—not just local playback—so you can confirm that the encoder connects and the preview appears in Live Control Room before the holiday broadcast.

- Check that the correct videos are queued and play in the intended order.
- Test the stream key and event connection in advance; keep the key private.
- Inspect the Live Control Room preview and verify that audio and video are present.
- Promote the scheduled watch page with the date, time zone, and any relevant audience or regional context.
Keep the content and promotion clear
YouTube for Artists identifies holidays among possible occasions for a livestream and recommends keeping a consistent streaming schedule. That is general creator guidance, not evidence that a particular Indian holiday or start time will perform best. A stream’s timing should fit the audience you intend to reach.
Make sure you have the rights needed to broadcast every recording, including music and other third-party material. A playlist being available on YouTube does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast its contents as a livestream. YouTube’s creator resources also describe holidays as one possible livestream occasion and encourage a consistent schedule.

Troubleshooting before the event
- The playlist is not appearing as a live broadcast: A playlist is a collection, not a livestream feed. Schedule a Live Control Room event and send it a feed from an encoder.
- The event is scheduled but the preview is blank: Check that the encoder is running and is using the stream URL and key for this event. Confirm local playback and inspect the encoder’s connection status, then recheck the Live Control Room preview.
- The key or connection details do not work: Verify that you copied the current event’s stream key and URL into the encoder without exposing the key publicly.
- The stream appears on the wrong calendar date for some viewers: Clarify the time zone in promotions and recheck the event’s displayed date and time in Studio. Do not apply the scheduled-video PST note automatically to a livestream.
- Viewers cannot find the event early: Share the scheduled watch page once it is available and direct viewers to that page for the event and reminders.
