You can schedule an uploaded video as a YouTube Premiere from your phone in India. YouTube’s explicitly documented mobile route is to upload in the YouTube app and choose Set as Premiere on the visibility page. YouTube Studio also documents scheduling a Premiere, but its help does not establish that every Premiere control appears in the Studio mobile app on every account or device. If the control is missing there, use the YouTube app upload flow or Studio in a browser.
Schedule the Premiere from your phone
Have the finished video ready to upload. A Premiere is a scheduled shared viewing of an uploaded video; you do not broadcast it live from your phone.
- Start the upload in the YouTube app. Tap the create/upload control and select your finished video.
- Open the visibility settings. On the Set visibility page, choose Set as Premiere.
- Choose when it will happen. For a later release, schedule the video and set its date and time. YouTube’s Studio scheduling flow also describes selecting Schedule, entering the date and time, and checking Set as Premiere.
- Optional: customize the countdown. If Set up Premiere is offered, select a countdown theme and length. These choices are optional.
- Finish scheduling. Tap Done or Schedule, as shown in your interface.
- Share the watch-page link. Once scheduled, the Premiere has a public watch page. Share its URL so viewers can visit and set a reminder.
YouTube’s Premiere instructions are available in India-localized help content, but that does not guarantee identical controls in every version of the Studio mobile app. Labels and availability can vary by account, device, and app version.
If “Set as Premiere” is missing in Studio mobile
That alone does not mean the feature is unavailable in India or that the app is broken. YouTube’s help explicitly describes creating a Premiere while uploading in the YouTube app; it does not confirm full feature parity between Studio mobile and Studio on the web.

- Try the YouTube app upload route: start a new upload and look for Set as Premiere on the visibility page.
- Or use Studio in a browser: follow the Studio scheduling flow, set the date and time, then select Set as Premiere.
- Update the app and check again if controls appear incomplete, but do not assume an update will add a control that is not available to your account or interface.
Check that the video and schedule are eligible
- Format limits: YouTube’s current Premiere help says Shorts, 360/VR180 videos, and output above 1080p are not supported for Premieres.
- Leave time for discovery: YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours ahead so viewers in different time zones have an opportunity to see the thumbnail in their subscriptions feed.
- Trailer option: A trailer is optional. YouTube says it requires more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; its duration must be 15 seconds to 3 minutes.
- Monetization is conditional: eligible channels can enable pre-roll ads, and eligible viewers may use Super Chat or Super Stickers. Memberships may offer member-only chat. These options are not available to every creator.
- Strike penalties can affect release: YouTube warns that an active Community Guidelines strike penalty may prevent a scheduled Premiere from publishing. It may be set to private and need rescheduling after the freeze period.
Regardless of Premiere settings, make sure you have rights to the video and audio you upload and that the content follows YouTube’s policies.
What viewers see
Before the start, the scheduled video has a public watch page where viewers can set a reminder, comment, and chat. YouTube says reminder notifications are sent about 30 minutes before the Premiere and again when it begins. During the Premiere, viewers watch together in real time: they can rewind, but cannot skip ahead beyond the point currently being shown. Afterward, the video remains available as a regular upload, with chat replay available.
