To schedule different cartoon blocks in one continuous 24/7 YouTube livestream, set the timetable in the playout system that sends your video—not in YouTube Studio. Studio schedules the broadcast event and its watch page; it does not play episodes or switch between playlists at specified times. Choose a sender that can make the required timed handoffs, then connect it to a scheduled YouTube broadcast. If every block needs its own watch page and reminder, schedule a separate YouTube broadcast for each block instead.
Choose between one continuous stream and separate events
Decide first what viewers should see. A single continuous feed keeps the same live event open while the outgoing video changes from one cartoon block to the next. Separate scheduled broadcasts give each block its own event and watch page. These are different operating plans, not two ways of arranging a playlist.
Google’s Live API distinguishes a broadcast, the YouTube event viewers watch, from a stream, the incoming audio-video feed. A stream can be reused for recurring broadcasts, and Google documents a continuous 24/7 broadcast alongside a separate broadcast bound to the same stream. That does not make the YouTube event scheduler a media playout system. Google’s Live Streaming API guide was last updated September 14, 2026.
- One event, changing blocks: The sender must remain connected and switch the media at the times in your lineup.
- Separate events: Create a scheduled YouTube broadcast for each show or block and connect the correct feed when that event is due.
Plan the cartoon timetable and playout method
Make a lineup before configuring YouTube. For each block, write down its title, planned start time, duration, file or playlist, and the next block. Include any opening or closing material and decide what should play if a file ends early or the next one is unavailable. Check actual media durations; a timetable based on approximate runtimes will drift over a long run.

Then choose a playout system that can execute the schedule you need. The key question is not merely whether it can loop videos, but whether it can switch among distinct blocks at the intended times while maintaining the outgoing feed.

OBS’s Media Sources guide, dated January 11, 2022, documents media-source and VLC playlist behavior. Check the interface and any automation method against your installed OBS version; do not assume that a playlist alone provides fixed time-of-day scheduling.

Schedule and connect the YouTube broadcast
- Create the event: In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream. Create a new broadcast or reuse settings. Set the title, description, visibility, and other event details for the continuous channel or individual block, as appropriate.
- Use the event page for promotion: Scheduling prepares the YouTube event and watch page. YouTube says, “Scheduling a stream lets you promote your stream.” A scheduled stream may appear to subscribers as upcoming with a Notify me option, and you can share its URL. Scheduling does not supply the video feed.
- Connect the sender: Copy the stream URL and key into your encoder or sending system. YouTube’s setup workflow allows reuse of prior settings, including metadata, stream settings, and the key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, and reset it if exposed.
- Start and verify: Start the sender, wait for the preview in Live Control Room, check that the expected video and audio arrive, and then click Go live for the scheduled workflow. The event’s scheduled time does not make an absent sender start transmitting.
- Test the whole schedule: Where available, use a private or unlisted test. Check the first frame, audio, transitions, block timing, stream health, and what happens if the sender loses its connection and reconnects. Test auto-start and auto-stop against your plan; those settings do not create a feed or guarantee its recovery.
For a continuous broadcast, confirm that your chosen playout system can change blocks without ending the outgoing feed. For separate events, test the handoff and the correct event/feed pairing for each show. YouTube’s documentation does not guarantee that a sender will begin at the scheduled minute simply because an event is scheduled.
Clear rights for every cartoon and soundtrack
Before broadcasting, confirm that you have the rights needed for the planned livestream for every episode, music track, graphic, and other included material. Permission to upload a file or a successful stream-key connection does not establish permission to broadcast it. YouTube provides rights-management controls, but responsibility for the material remains with the operator. Check the rights and permissions for the actual content and intended use; do not treat a technical test as rights clearance.

Keep a continuous event’s archive limits in mind
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not rely on that statement as a promise that a continuous 24/7 session will be archived indefinitely or remain uninterrupted. Plan separately for any recordings you need to retain, and check YouTube’s current live-stream guidance before relying on an archive workflow.
