You can schedule weekday and Sunday YouTube releases in India Standard Time (IST), but YouTube Studio’s documented workflow sets the playlist and publication time for each video individually. Assign every video to its intended playlist, then schedule its date, time and time zone. YouTube’s help pages do not describe a recurring playlist-level rule that automatically switches between weekday and Sunday playlists.
What you can and can’t automate in YouTube Studio
YouTube Studio lets you choose a playlist for a video and schedule that video to become public at a specific date and time. To alternate between a weekday playlist and a Sunday playlist, make those choices for each video you plan to publish. The official workflow does not document a single recurring setting that selects one playlist on weekdays and another on Sundays.
This is a good fit if you are comfortable preparing releases ahead of time. YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable upload schedule and using YouTube tools to automate uploads; it does not say that any particular weekday or Sunday time is inherently better. See YouTube’s upload schedule tips.
Set up the weekday and Sunday playlists
- Create or identify both playlists. In YouTube Studio, go to Content > Playlists to manage playlists, or create a playlist during upload. Choose clear titles, such as “Weekday uploads” and “Sunday uploads.” Set each playlist’s visibility and arrangement as needed. YouTube’s playlist management guide explains the available controls.
- Make a release calendar. Record each planned publication date, video, intended playlist, publication time and time zone. This simple list helps prevent assigning a Sunday video to the weekday playlist—or scheduling a release using a collaborator’s local time by mistake.
Schedule each video in IST
- Upload the video. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Upload videos and choose the file. You can also use the upload flow to create a playlist if one does not already exist.
- Assign its playlist. In the video details, use the playlist selector to add the video to the weekday or Sunday playlist from your calendar. YouTube documents playlist selection in its computer upload instructions.
- Set scheduled visibility. In the upload flow’s Visibility step, choose Schedule. Select the intended publication date and time, and explicitly choose the time zone shown in the scheduling controls. For an India-based release plan, select India Standard Time (IST) rather than assuming the browser or account is using it.
- Confirm the schedule. Finish scheduling, then check the video’s scheduled status, playlist assignment, date and time in YouTube Studio. Repeat for each planned upload. YouTube’s schedule video publish time instructions cover scheduling and editing a scheduled publication.
Understand the IST and watch-page date difference
YouTube says the “Published on” date shown on a video’s watch page is based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). A release scheduled in IST can therefore display a different calendar date on the watch page than the date shown in Studio, depending on the scheduled instant. If the displayed calendar date matters to your audience, check the watch page after publication rather than assuming it will match the date in your India-local calendar.

Can a third-party scheduler handle the weekday/Sunday switch?
Metricool’s help documentation describes scheduling YouTube videos, choosing a playlist and setting a publication date and time. Its separate recurring-post instructions describe weekday, duration, time and time-zone controls, with recurrence availability listed for Advanced and Custom plans. Those pages do not establish that recurrence can automatically select different video files and different playlists for particular days.

Check these issues before relying on a scheduled release
- A scheduled video remains private: YouTube says a Community Guidelines strike can prevent scheduled publishing during the penalty period. The video remains private and must be rescheduled after the restriction is no longer in effect.
- The date appears different on the watch page: Compare the scheduled instant with the PST-based “Published on” date; for an IST schedule, the calendar date may differ.
- The wrong playlist appears: Reopen the video’s details in Studio and verify its playlist assignment, as well as its scheduled status.
- The release time seems shifted: Check the time zone selected in the Schedule controls. Do not infer it from a browser display or another person’s local time.
