You can use one OBS installation to send a playlist to different YouTube channels, but schedule each livestream separately in that channel’s YouTube Live Control Room. OBS is the encoder; YouTube creates the scheduled events. The official guidance cited here does not establish a built-in OBS scheduler that starts playlists and switches automatically between channels or stream keys, so plan those steps separately unless you have verified an automation method.
How the workflow fits together
For each broadcast, create a scheduled livestream event in the relevant YouTube channel, then point OBS at that event’s stream URL and stream key. Separately arrange for the intended playlist to play in OBS at the right time. YouTube’s uploaded-video publishing schedule is a different feature: it makes an uploaded video public at a chosen time, whereas a livestream event accepts an encoder feed.
A scheduled livestream can appear as an upcoming stream, give viewers a shareable URL, and let them set reminders. Scheduling the event does not, by itself, start OBS or select and play a local playlist.
Prepare each YouTube channel
Check livestream eligibility early
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to livestream. First-time activation may take at least 24 hours, so check every channel well before the planned broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Keep the event and its credentials matched
In the relevant channel’s YouTube Studio, open Create > Go Live > Manage and schedule an encoder stream. You can reuse settings from a previous event or create a new event. For every event, note its stream URL and stream key, and label them with the channel and event name in your own secure records. YouTube describes the key as the credential that lets an encoder send a feed; treat it like a password and do not publish or share it. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and stream settings guidance.
Schedule and run a playlist using one OBS installation
- Create the YouTube event: In the target channel’s YouTube Studio, go to Create > Go Live > Manage, schedule the encoder stream, and record the event’s URL and key securely.
- Set OBS for that event: In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select the YouTube service if applicable, and enter the event’s server URL and stream key. Confirm that the selected credentials belong to the intended channel and event before starting output. YouTube’s encoder instructions require the server URL and key to be entered into the encoder.
- Prepare playlist playback separately: Load the media and arrange its playback in OBS. Schedule or launch that local playback independently from the YouTube event. Do not assume that scheduling a YouTube event also schedules an OBS playlist.
- Preflight the broadcast: YouTube recommends setting up the encoder stream at least two hours before the event and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. In Live Control Room, check the preview, confirm event accessibility, and monitor audio and video quality. See YouTube’s encoder streaming tips.
- Repeat for each channel and event: Before switching to another broadcast, stop or finish the current output as appropriate, then verify the next event’s URL and key in OBS. The documented YouTube workflow does not verify automatic switching between channel credentials or automatic playlist launches in OBS.
What OBS scheduling does—and does not—mean here
YouTube’s official help documents how to schedule livestream events and connect an encoder. It does not establish that OBS has a built-in cross-channel playlist scheduler or automatically switches among YouTube channel keys. Any such automation should be treated as a separate, unverified setup unless current OBS documentation or testing for your exact configuration confirms it.

Likewise, do not confuse YouTube Studio’s scheduled video publication with a live playlist broadcast. Scheduled publication applies to an uploaded video set to scheduled/private and made public at a selected date, time, and time zone; a livestream is a separately scheduled Live Control Room event that receives an encoder feed. See YouTube’s scheduled video publishing instructions.
Check concurrency limits before overlapping broadcasts
YouTube’s current help guidance, accessed in 2026, sets a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key; both limits apply at the same time. If several events overlap, count active streams for both the channel and the specific key rather than assuming the limits are interchangeable. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.

Common problems and fixes
- The channel cannot go live: Check verification and whether the channel has a live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days. If this is its first activation, allow at least 24 hours.
- The event receives no feed: Confirm that OBS is using the stream URL and key for that exact scheduled event, not another channel or an older event. Re-enter the credentials from Live Control Room if needed.
- The wrong channel’s event shows the feed: Stop output and match the selected key to the intended channel and event before restarting. Keep keys labelled securely to reduce mix-ups.
- The event is scheduled but the playlist does not play: The YouTube event schedule and local OBS playlist playback are separate. Start or schedule the playlist using a method you have verified for your OBS setup.
- There is no preview or the stream is inaccessible: Check the Live Control Room preview and event accessibility, then verify the encoder connection and monitor audio/video quality. Start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start.
- An overlapping broadcast will not start: Check whether the channel has 10 active streams or the key has 3 active streams already; either limit can prevent another simultaneous stream.
