You can schedule the YouTube livestream for a future start in YouTube Studio, then use OBS to repeat a jingle file or a playlist during the broadcast. These are separate controls: YouTube schedules the event; OBS plays the audio. The documented OBS loop options repeat media after playback ends—they do not establish a way to insert a jingle every set number of minutes over continuous music.
First decide what “schedule jingles” means
There are two different tasks that are easy to confuse:
- Schedule the livestream: Create a future YouTube event so viewers can find it and opt into reminders, then connect an encoder when it is time to broadcast.
- Repeat or cue jingles during the stream: Use playback controls in OBS. The documented Loop and Loop Playlist controls repeat a file or playlist; they do not provide exact clock-time or interval-based insertion over another continuous audio source.
The steps below cover a scheduled YouTube event and repeating a jingle or playlist in OBS. If you need a jingle to play, for example, every 15 minutes over a separate music bed, you will need a separately verified cue scheduler or automation workflow; the controls described here do not do that.
Schedule the YouTube livestream
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, choose Go live, open Manage, then choose Schedule stream.
- Create the event. Set up a new stream or reuse settings. Scheduling makes the upcoming event visible to viewers and allows them to opt into reminders. This sets up the event; it does not start OBS playback or send a live feed.
- Copy the event’s stream URL and stream key. You will enter these in OBS so the encoder sends its output to the scheduled event. Treat the stream key as private: YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” If it is compromised, YouTube documents resetting it in Live Control Room.

Set up a repeating jingle in OBS
Repeat one audio file
- In OBS, select the scene that should contain the jingle.
- Add a Media Source to that scene and choose the local audio file. OBS lists MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV among the supported audio file types.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties. OBS defines this control as specifying whether the file plays again after playback completes. It repeats that file; it does not schedule the file to play over another source at a chosen interval.
Repeat a playlist
- In OBS, add a VLC Video source and create its media playlist with the audio or video files you want to play.
- Install VLC if the VLC Video source is not available in OBS; the source requires VLC.
- Arrange the files in the intended order. Leave shuffle disabled if the jingles must play in a fixed sequence.
- Enable Loop Playlist so the source restarts after it reaches the end of the media list.
OBS’s Media Sources documentation describes both looping controls and VLC source visibility behavior. If playback needs to continue while you switch scenes, check the source’s visibility behavior and test the transition: a loop setting alone does not establish what should happen when the source is hidden.
Connect OBS to the scheduled event and go live
- In OBS’s stream settings, enter the stream URL and stream key copied from the YouTube event. The key identifies where OBS should send the feed and allows YouTube to accept it.
- Start the OBS stream in time to send a signal to the scheduled event.
- In YouTube Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview. Check that the expected picture and audio are present, then click Go live when ready.
- During the broadcast, monitor stream health and audio/video quality. YouTube recommends testing in advance with audio and video similar to the planned stream.

Choose the right playback method

Test the audio, rights, and stream before the event
- Test the actual arrangement: Send a test stream with audio and video similar to the planned broadcast. Confirm the jingle is audible in YouTube’s incoming preview and that scene changes do not interrupt playback unexpectedly.
- Monitor during the broadcast: Check Live Control Room’s stream health and audio/video quality rather than assuming that a successful OBS start means the feed is arriving correctly.
- Confirm music permissions: Use audio you have permission to stream. Check whether the permission covers livestreaming and any archived replay. A file being a jingle, stored locally, or described as royalty-free does not by itself establish that those uses are licensed.
- Plan for interruptions: The cited setup guidance recommends testing and monitoring; it does not establish a restart or failover guarantee if OBS, the computer, the connection, or the YouTube feed drops.
