To broadcast a recorded Marathi sermon at a set time, schedule a YouTube Live event in YouTube Studio, send the recording through an encoder such as OBS, then check the preview and select Go live in Live Control Room. If “continuous” means a feed that runs around the clock or loops sermons unattended, that is a different setup: scheduling one event does not create a 24/7 stream.
Choose between a scheduled service and a 24/7 loop
For a Sunday service or weekly sermon, schedule a separate event for its start time. The upcoming watch page gives the church a link to share beforehand, and viewers may be able to select Notify me. YouTube Help describes the benefit plainly: “Scheduling a stream lets you promote your stream.” YouTube’s encoder instructions explain the scheduling workflow.
A 24/7 feed is an operationally different arrangement: it needs a playback and streaming setup that continues between broadcasts, rather than one event scheduled for a particular hour. Google’s Live Streaming API documentation describes a continuous broadcast use case in which a broadcast can continue while a separate broadcast is started and ended. Google’s documentation was last updated September 14, 2026.
Which path fits your church?
- Scheduled sermon event: Choose this for a service viewers should join at a defined time, with an upcoming watch page to share.
- Computer and software encoder: Choose this when a volunteer can run and monitor a computer during the event. YouTube’s encoder directory lists OBS as free and open-source software.
- Dedicated hardware encoder: YouTube’s encoder directory lists the AJA HELO Plus with PlayToStream functionality for scheduled prerecorded media. Check the manufacturer’s current details before choosing hardware.
- Cloud service: Consider this when the goal is unattended or round-the-clock playback. Compare each service’s scheduling controls, storage, monitoring, reliability terms, price and cancellation terms. YouTube’s directory lists providers but does not establish comparative performance or endorse a specific provider.
Prepare the sermon and the stream
Check rights and audience settings
Before broadcasting, confirm the church has permission for everything in the recording, including any sermon excerpts, music or performances. Having a copy of a recording does not by itself establish every right needed to stream it.

Decide whether the event should be public, unlisted or private, and verify that choice when scheduling and before going live. YouTube documents age-related defaults, so do not assume the initial audience setting matches the church’s intention.
Choose an encoder and protect the stream key
YouTube Live accepts a feed from an encoder, which can be software on a computer or a hardware device. OBS is one free software option listed in YouTube’s encoder directory. The encoder sends the video to YouTube using a server URL and stream key; the key identifies where the feed goes and allows YouTube to accept it. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it beyond people who need to configure the stream.

Schedule and broadcast a recorded sermon
- Create the event: In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live to open Live Control Room. Open Manage, select Schedule stream, then create a stream or reuse settings from an earlier broadcast.
- Set event details: Enter the sermon’s title, description, planned start time and audience-facing details. Choose the intended privacy setting—public, unlisted or private—and review the audience setting rather than relying on its default.
- Share the watch page: Once scheduled, share the event URL with the congregation. The upcoming event page can let viewers set a reminder using Notify me.
- Configure the encoder: In OBS or another encoder, select YouTube if the software offers it. Otherwise, copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube into the encoder’s streaming settings. Keep the key confidential.
- Send the recording at the planned time: Start the encoder feed and check that the video appears in Live Control Room’s preview. When it is ready, select Go live. Confirm the event is public, unlisted or private as intended.
- End the event: End the broadcast in Live Control Room and stop the encoder feed. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; the Studio Live tab shows current and upcoming streams.

If “continuous” means an always-on sermon channel
A scheduled event is a good fit when the church wants people to gather at a particular time. For a recurring or uninterrupted feed, plan for what plays between services, how playback continues, and who or what monitors the stream. Google’s API documentation describes a 24/7 broadcast use case, while YouTube’s encoder directory includes cloud services for continuous prerecorded streaming and the AJA HELO Plus hardware path for scheduled prerecorded media. Those listings do not, by themselves, establish comparative reliability or suitability for a particular church.

The do-it-yourself scheduled-event route can use an existing computer and OBS, which YouTube lists as free software; it still requires someone to run and monitor the computer and connection during the service. A hardware encoder or cloud service is optional, depending on whether the church values a dedicated device or unattended playback. Troubleshooting the scheduled broadcast
- The event is not visible to viewers: Check that it was scheduled in Live Control Room and verify its privacy setting. A private event will not work as a public congregation watch page.
- No preview appears: Confirm the encoder is sending to the server URL and stream key for this event, and that the encoder is actively sending its feed. Do not share the stream key publicly.
- The preview works but viewers cannot join: Check the scheduled start and event status in Live Control Room, then use Go live when ready. Sending an encoder feed and making the scheduled event live are distinct steps in this workflow.
- The broadcast ends before the sermon finishes: Check the encoder, computer and network connection. For a one-time service, a volunteer should monitor the feed; a scheduled event alone does not ensure unattended playback.
- The archive is missing: YouTube’s documented automatic archive rule applies to streams shorter than 12 hours. Do not rely on that rule for a stream lasting 12 hours or longer.
- Music or another part of the recording raises a rights concern: Pause publication until the church has confirmed it has permission for all included material.
