Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo repeat one YouTube playlist on a Raspberry Pi, open it in an embedded player with listType=playlist, its playlist ID, and loop=1. To switch between different playlists at set times, you also need a local scheduling layer that changes the player’s URL; YouTube’s loop setting does not schedule playlist changes.
Choose what “rotation” means
- Repeat one playlist: use YouTube’s embedded player with looping enabled. It plays through the playlist and starts again from the first video.
- Switch among playlists at particular times: have the Pi load a different playlist URL when each time slot begins. That requires a separate local scheduling mechanism; the player’s loop parameter alone cannot do it.
Set one playlist to repeat
Google for Developers’ YouTube player parameter reference documents the playlist embed parameters. Replace PLAYLIST_ID below with the ID of the playlist you want to play:
https://www.youtube.com/embed?listType=playlist&list=PLAYLIST_ID&autoplay=1&loop=1
- Copy the playlist ID from the intended YouTube playlist’s URL. Playlist IDs commonly begin with
PL, but use the ID shown for your playlist rather than assuming a prefix. - Put that ID in place of
PLAYLIST_IDin the embed URL. - Open the URL in Chromium on the Pi.
autoplay=1requests playback when the player loads;loop=1makes the playlist return to its first video after the last one finishes.
You can open the embed URL directly, or place it in an HTML page if you need a custom layout around the player. Both approaches load the playlist; the custom page gives you room to arrange the display and controls. Google’s minimum player viewport is 200 by 200 pixels and its recommendation for a 16:9 player is at least 480 pixels wide by 270 pixels tall.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Autoplay and view-count caveats
Google says autoplay can start playback without interaction, but playback data collection and sharing occur when the page loads. YouTube Help also says embedded videos that autoplay do not increment views. Keep those points in mind for an unattended public display.
Start the player when the Pi desktop loads
Raspberry Pi’s kiosk-mode tutorial shows Chromium launching in kiosk mode from the labwc desktop’s .config/labwc/autostart file on Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit. Its example opens URLs in tabs and switches tabs periodically. That demonstrates how to start a browser display and cycle tabs; it does not schedule changes between YouTube playlists.

- Set up the Pi’s graphical desktop and Chromium, then confirm the embed URL plays correctly before configuring kiosk startup.
- Use the tutorial’s
.config/labwc/autostartapproach to launch Chromium when the desktop starts, adapting its sample destinations to your embed URL or a page that contains the embed. - Restart the desktop or Pi and verify that Chromium opens the intended player and playback starts as expected.
The tutorial’s baseline is a Raspberry Pi 3 or newer with at least 1 GB of RAM for a graphical browser kiosk. It lists a Pi, suitable power supply, microSD card, display cable, and monitor as supplies. This is a setup baseline, not a guarantee of performance for every video, resolution, or playlist.
Schedule changes between different playlists
A time-based rotation needs a local component that selects the active playlist URL and makes Chromium load it at the planned time. The implementation must fit the Pi’s installed operating-system release and graphical session. The Raspberry Pi kiosk example establishes a boot-to-browser pattern, but it does not provide a time-of-day playlist scheduler, and the official player parameters only control what the loaded player plays.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Two implementation patterns
- Local timer and script: a script chooses the playlist for the current time and reloads or navigates Chromium to that playlist’s embed URL. The timer and browser-control commands depend on the operating-system release and desktop session.
- Browser-side page: a page running in Chromium changes the embed URL according to a schedule. This keeps the decision in the page, but it still needs reliable access to the schedule and a way to replace the player.
Neither pattern is established as the best choice for every Raspberry Pi OS release. Test the chosen implementation on the actual Pi and graphical session before relying on it. In particular, verify startup after reboot, the playlist transition at each scheduled time, and recovery if Chromium or the network connection is interrupted. Do not treat the kiosk tutorial’s periodic tab switching as proof that playlist changes are scheduled.
What a Pi kiosk requires
The Raspberry Pi tutorial names a microSD card, monitor, and display cable among its setup items. Most Pi models use microSD as boot media, according to the official getting-started documentation, though some models support other storage. Check the exact Pi model and display connections before buying or choosing storage; capacity and speed requirements depend on the model and workload.

Or let it run in the cloud
A Raspberry Pi kiosk plays a YouTube playlist on a display; StreamNeo is a different setup for keeping an uploaded video or playlist live on a YouTube channel. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops it from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams uploads as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month.
