To change meditation programming by time of day, you need a feed workflow that explicitly supports timed playlist transitions, configured for your time zone. YouTube can host the broadcast; your encoder or streaming service must send the right content at the right time.
First decide what “schedule playlists” means for your channel
There are two different outcomes. A sequence of separately scheduled livestreams creates a new YouTube video for each event. A single continuous livestream stays on one broadcast while its audio and video change during the day. If you want viewers to move from a morning meditation playlist to an evening one without the live video ending, you need the second setup.
YouTube distinguishes the broadcast from the stream: a broadcast is the event viewers watch, while a stream carries the audio-video feed. The Live Streaming API binds a broadcast to a stream, and a stream can be reused for multiple broadcasts. Its documentation also describes a 24/7 pattern in which one ongoing broadcast continues receiving video while another broadcast ends. That is broadcast management—not a built-in playlist timetable. Check channel eligibility before configuring a schedule
YouTube’s live-streaming requirements include a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Review YouTube’s current live-streaming setup guidance before building the workflow. The same Help page lists encoder streaming among the available ways to send a live feed.

YouTube Help currently states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. These limits matter if you plan simultaneous feeds; a single continuous meditation feed may not need that many. Check the current YouTube page if your design uses multiple concurrent outputs.
Choose a feed workflow that can change playlists by clock time
YouTube Studio/Live Control Room can create and manage broadcasts, including scheduled ones, but the reviewed YouTube Help material does not describe clock-based playlist switching inside an ongoing feed. The Live Streaming API provides resources for broadcasts and streams; it does not, by itself, decide which meditation playlist an encoder sends at a particular hour. Choose a separate feed-management method and verify that it supports timed transitions before announcing a daypart schedule.

For any option, check start and restart behavior, playlist looping, time-zone handling, daylight-saving changes, duration limits, and what happens after an interruption. Do not treat a service’s ability to schedule a stream as proof that it can switch playlists at specified times.
Build the daypart schedule and content blocks
Plan the programming first, independently of the software. For example, decide which playlist should be active in the morning, daytime, evening, and overnight. Record the intended start time and time zone for each transition, then map each block to the playlist or video files that should play.

- Choose whether transitions should happen at fixed local clock times or at intervals from the start of the stream.
- Decide what happens if a playlist ends early, a file is missing, or the feed restarts between dayparts.
- Use content you have the rights to stream, including the music and any meditation recordings. A live format does not remove copyright obligations.
- Keep a fallback playlist or a clear restart procedure for a failed transition.
Once you select a feed tool, configure its playlist or automation features for the desired times. The exact controls depend on that tool; YouTube’s broadcast scheduling screens should not be mistaken for those controls.
Create and test the YouTube broadcast
- Verify channel access. Confirm the channel meets YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements and that the account can open the live workflow.
- Create a test broadcast in YouTube Studio / Live Control Room. Use the live-streaming workflow to create or schedule a test event, then identify the stream key or connection details your chosen encoder or service needs. Keep the stream key private.
- Configure the feed sender. In a local setup, configure the encoder or playlist software to send the intended audio-video feed. With the API, create the relevant
liveStream, use its delivery settings to configure the encoder, create theliveBroadcastresources, and bind each broadcast to a stream as documented by Google. The API manages YouTube resources; your software still has to select the content. - Set up one transition before the full schedule. Configure a test change from one meditation playlist to another at a chosen boundary. Confirm that the selected tool supports the intended time zone and that the transition does not unexpectedly end the YouTube broadcast.
- Run a full daypart cycle before publishing the timetable. Check the boundary transition, audio levels, playback continuity, correct local time, and behavior after a restart. These are implementation checks, not guarantees supplied by YouTube.
- Publish the schedule only after the feed behaves as intended. Keep the fallback content and restart steps available to whoever monitors the channel.
Cloud option: let the feed run without a home computer

Common scheduling problems and how to address them
- The broadcast starts, but the playlist does not change. YouTube’s scheduled broadcast controls do not establish timed playlist switching. Check that the encoder or service—not just the YouTube event—has a configured transition rule.
- The transition occurs at the wrong hour. Check the time zone selected in the playlist scheduler, the channel operator’s local time, and daylight-saving settings. Test a boundary before relying on a recurring schedule.
- The stream ends when one playlist finishes. Check whether the feed tool is set to loop or continue into the next item, and whether the YouTube broadcast is configured as the intended continuous event.
- The feed stops after a computer or connection failure. A local encoder depends on its host computer and internet connection. Check its restart behavior and keep a recovery procedure; if using a cloud service, verify its documented interruption handling and account limits.
- A second scheduled event interrupts the continuous video. Review how broadcasts are bound to streams and whether the intended design uses one ongoing broadcast or multiple distinct events. The API’s 24/7 example shows that an ongoing broadcast can continue receiving video while another broadcast ends, but your implementation still needs to be configured accordingly.
Costs and operating limits to check
A local encoder workflow requires you to account for the machine and connection that send the feed, as well as the software that handles timed playlist transitions. Cloud services move feed delivery off the home computer, but compare the plan, duration cap, scheduling controls, and recovery behavior before committing.
