What the figures mean
Steam Support wording reproduced in a 2021 Steam Community reply describes external funds as money applied to your Steam account to buy items in the Steam store or add funds to your Steam Wallet. The fields reported in that explanation are:
- TotalSpend: total external funds applied to the account. Steam’s reproduced wording says it is used to determine whether an account is limited.
- OldSpend: external funds applied before 2015-04-17 18:00 UTC.
- PWSpend: for accounts linked to Perfect World for CS:GO or Dota 2, an approximate USD value of funds applied from Perfect World. The reproduced explanation says it is zero otherwise.
Steam’s quoted help text says these values are calculated when needed and may not always be current. Treat the page as an account-level summary, not necessarily a real-time ledger; the reproduced explanation also says fields may not be stored until needed. The official page requires sign-in, so these definitions reflect Steam Support text reproduced in the Steam Community discussion, rather than a public view of an authenticated account.

External Funds Used vs. Purchase History
Use External Funds Used for the account-level spending fields. To inspect individual transactions, open Help > Steam Support > My Account > Purchase History, or go to Steam Purchase History after signing in. Steam’s purchase-history guidance describes the transaction list as the place to review purchases.
Neither page is a valuation of your game library. A third-party estimator may approximate the value of games you own, but that is a different measure from money recorded as spent through Steam. PC Gamer’s guide to checking Steam spending distinguishes Steam’s spending page from estimates based on owned games.
