To give each playlist its own YouTube title, create a separate YouTube live event for each playlist and set the title in that event’s details. A playlist name or reusable stream name does not automatically become the title of the YouTube video. The important distinction is that YouTube attaches the viewer-facing title to a broadcast (event), while a stream is the audio/video transmission resource and can be reused for broadcasts at different times. Google explains the difference between broadcasts and streams.
What the YouTube title belongs to
In YouTube’s Live Streaming API model, a broadcast represents a live event and corresponds to a distinct YouTube video. The stream is the transmission resource bound to that broadcast; it may be reused for broadcasts at different times. That is why changing a playlist name, encoder stream name, or reusable source does not by itself set a new title on each YouTube video. See Google’s LiveBroadcasts reference and guide to broadcasts and streams.
For separate program listings, make a separate event for each playlist or program, then enter the intended title in that event’s metadata. If you only need to correct a title, edit the event and confirm the change on YouTube.
Set a title for each playlist in Restream
Restream documents a cloud workflow for creating a YouTube event from video files or a playlist and setting event details, including the title. Its help article is Create a YouTube Live Event with Restream.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Start a new event. In Restream, choose New Stream, then select Playlist as the source.
- Choose the files. Select the videos that make up the program or playlist for this event.
- Enter the event details. Give this event the YouTube title you want viewers to see, and complete its description, date, and time.
- Check the YouTube destination and settings. Confirm the correct channel, privacy, and category before publishing or scheduling.
- Create the event and verify it. Check the resulting YouTube listing to make sure the title and destination are correct.
- Edit if needed. Open the event’s editing controls, change its title, save, and confirm the resulting title on YouTube.
Repeat this process for every playlist or program that needs a distinct listing. Restream also documents an option called Unique titles and descriptions per channel, which creates channel-specific metadata for selected channels; it is not documentation that each item inside a playlist automatically receives a separate title. Its help page says Events are available across plans, including the free plan, and notes that free users’ event thumbnails carry Restream branding. Plan details can change, so check Restream’s current help and plan terms before relying on them.
Keep the event title within YouTube’s limit
YouTube’s API update reference allows a broadcast title from 1 to 100 characters. Keep the title concise enough to fit and check the displayed result after saving. The limit and update fields are documented in Google’s LiveBroadcasts: update reference. The API route requires authorization and the appropriate request fields; it is a developer option, not an unauthenticated way to change metadata.

Other ways to set event titles
StreamYard scheduling
StreamYard’s documented YouTube scheduling flow lets you choose a YouTube channel, enter a broadcast title and description, and schedule the live stream. That page documents title entry and scheduling, but does not establish playback from playlist files. See Schedule a YouTube Live Stream.
Custom event creation
For a custom integration, YouTube’s Live Streaming API supports authorized creation and updates of broadcast metadata, including the title. Restream’s Events API destination endpoint accepts a required, non-empty title for a YouTube destination during event setup. These are developer workflows; consider which service creates and owns the scheduled event and how your integration handles authorization.

Common title and playlist problems
- The YouTube video keeps an old title: You may have renamed the playlist or reusable stream rather than edited the broadcast event. Change the event title and verify the YouTube listing.
- Several programs show the same title: They may be using one event or the same event metadata. Create a distinct event for each program that needs its own listing.
- Channel titles differ: Check each selected destination’s metadata. Restream documents a channel-specific title and description option, but that is separate from assigning a title to each playlist item.
- The title will not save through an API: Check authorization, the update request fields, and that the title is non-empty and within YouTube’s 1–100 character limit.
- The scheduled listing is on the wrong channel or has unintended visibility: Verify destination and privacy settings in the event before publishing or scheduling.
