To start two YouTube live broadcasts at different clock times, schedule each channel’s broadcast separately in YouTube Studio. To start each 24/7 feed at a different point in its playlist, set that starting position in the playout system that creates the feed: YouTube’s documented broadcast schedule controls when a broadcast starts, not where playback begins within a playlist.
First, identify which start time you mean
“Start time” can refer to two different controls:
- Broadcast start: when a live broadcast begins on YouTube. Set a separate scheduled start time for each channel.
- Playlist position or content timing: which video or point in a sequence plays when a continuous feed begins, or when it changes content. Configure this in the encoder or hosted playout system producing the feed.
YouTube’s LiveBroadcasts API defines scheduledStartTime as the date and time a broadcast is scheduled to start. It does not document this field as a playlist-position control. See the LiveBroadcasts API reference.
Schedule different broadcast start times for the two channels
- Check eligibility for each channel. YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check both channels independently using YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Open the first channel in YouTube Studio. Create or select the live broadcast for that channel and set its scheduled start time.
- Repeat in the second channel’s Studio account. Create or select that channel’s own broadcast and set its different scheduled start time. Do not assume that one channel’s broadcast or stream configuration schedules the other.
- Record both times with their time zones. Keep an explicit time zone in your operating notes so the intended clock times are unambiguous. The API field is an ISO 8601 date-time; the cited documentation does not establish a particular Studio time-zone display workflow.
- Keep each channel’s stream setup separate. Google’s guide explains that a different live stream must be created for each channel and that broadcasts are bound to live stream resources. Consult Understanding Broadcasts and Streams. Use the destination and stream configuration belonging to the channel whose broadcast you are setting up.
A broadcast without a scheduled start time begins when the channel owner starts streaming, according to the API reference. Scheduling controls the broadcast’s start; it does not, by itself, specify which playlist item or playback offset the feed should use.

Set different playlist positions or content schedules
If both channels should remain live continuously but show different content at startup, configure each feed’s starting position or playout schedule in the software or service that sends video to YouTube. YouTube’s cited documentation establishes broadcast scheduling and channel-specific stream resources, but does not establish a native playlist-offset setting for an already-running 24/7 feed.
With an encoder or playout system you manage
- Set up a distinct destination/feed configuration for each YouTube channel.
- Choose the desired initial playlist item or content block separately for each feed, if your system supports that control.
- Set any recurring content changes in that system’s scheduling or automation controls, then verify the schedule and destination for each channel.
- Check the system’s own documentation for whether it can control an initial playback position and run two separate schedules. The YouTube sources do not establish that every encoder or service supports those functions.
Hosted playout examples
Third-party tools illustrate approaches to unattended playout, but their features should not be treated as YouTube settings or assumed to support every two-channel setup. OneStream Live documents adding content, selecting a YouTube channel, entering stream details, and scheduling a 24-hour broadcast immediately or for later; it states a maximum 24/7 duration of 30 days. Its guide is an example of vendor-side scheduling, not evidence of a YouTube-native playlist offset or confirmation that a single configuration can set different initial positions for two destinations. Troubleshooting different start times
- Both broadcasts appear to start together: verify that each channel has its own broadcast and scheduled time. A schedule on one channel does not set the other channel’s time.
- The broadcast starts at the right time but the wrong video plays: the broadcast schedule and playlist starting position are separate. Check the encoder or playout system’s playlist or initial-position settings.
- The wrong channel receives a feed: recheck the destination and stream resource for each channel. Google’s guide describes separate live stream resources for separate channels.
- A channel cannot go live: check its verification status and whether it has had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days, as described by YouTube Help.
- A recurring content block does not switch as intended: inspect the playout system’s calendar or automation schedule. A vendor’s scheduling controls are separate from YouTube’s broadcast start-time field.
Copyright and channel policy checks
Before running a continuous feed, confirm that you have the rights needed to stream every video and audio track in the playlist, and review YouTube’s current live-streaming requirements for each channel. A scheduled broadcast or automated playout system does not grant rights to the content or guarantee that a stream will remain available.
