Before anything goes live, clear the music rights for the intended territories and confirm YouTube channel eligibility. A working connection does not grant permission to broadcast the recordings.
Before you set up the stream: clear the music rights
Treat rights clearance as a launch requirement, not a problem to solve after a copyright warning. For every track, identify both the sound-recording owner (often a label or other master owner) and the composition rights holders, which may include songwriters, publishers and other royalty participants. Obtain permission for the intended territories, stream duration, archiving, monetization and any other planned uses.
YouTube’s Live Stream Terms and Conditions make the content provider responsible for having the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights. The permissions you need depend on the catalog and where the stream will be available; there is no universal clearance that can be assumed for all Indian music.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder and a warning; continued use can lead to interruption or termination. Even music you have licensed may be interrupted if the relevant owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. Obtain written permissions and ask the applicable rights owners to confirm channel allowlisting where required. Buying a track, crediting its artist, or being able to play it through a consumer music subscription does not by itself grant live-broadcast rights. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Check that your YouTube channel can go live
Before configuring Ant Media, check the channel’s live-streaming access in YouTube Studio. YouTube Help’s live-streaming eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days, and the person streaming must be at least 16 years old. These are YouTube requirements, separate from server setup and music clearance.
Prepare Ant Media Server and its application
Install and configure Ant Media Server in a hosting environment suitable for your actual publishing workflow. Create or select the live application that will handle the broadcast, and open only the network paths required by the Ant Media publishing and restreaming workflow you choose. The documentation does not establish a universal cloud instance size, price, hardware model or dedicated encoder requirement for a given resolution or audience, so size the deployment against the real workload and test it.

Ant Media’s Playlist guide describes linear streaming of prerecorded media for continuous social-platform presence and lists the playlist feature as available in Community and Enterprise editions. Check the guide against the Ant Media version you install; supported formats and behavior should be validated with your specific media and version.
Build the 24/7 playlist
- Organize cleared media. Keep the files you have permission to broadcast together and retain records of the permissions and any Content ID allowlisting confirmation.
- Create and schedule the playlist. In the Ant Media application, use the playlist workflow to arrange the prerecorded items as a linear program. Set the sequence and scheduling or repeat behavior appropriate to the channel’s intended run, using the controls documented for your installed version.
- Check every item’s playback. Verify that each file has the expected video and audio, and that transitions and the playlist’s progression behave as intended. Ant Media’s RTMP restreaming guide warns that YouTube does not accept a stream without audio, so an otherwise correct video-only playlist is not ready to send to YouTube.
- Confirm the program continues as intended. Observe the playlist through enough transitions to establish that the configured schedule behaves as expected. A successful short test is not proof of uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
Connect the Ant Media broadcast to YouTube
- Open YouTube Studio’s live flow. Select Create / Go Live and locate the stream URL and stream key for the broadcast. The exact screen can vary with YouTube’s current interface and channel state.
- Keep the stream key secret. Treat it like a password: anyone with access may be able to send a stream to your channel. Do not publish it or include it in public screenshots, and rotate it in YouTube if it is exposed.
- Select the Ant Media live stream. In Ant Media’s Live Streams area, create or select the broadcast you intend to restream.
- Add YouTube as the RTMP destination. Use the broadcast’s Edit RTMP Endpoint action and enter the YouTube stream URL and stream key as the endpoint details. Ant Media’s version 3.1 guide, Social Media / RTMP Restreaming, documents this workflow. Confirm that the destination is saved for the correct broadcast.
- Start with a controlled test. Check the Ant Media broadcast state and YouTube Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. Confirm that YouTube receives both audio and video.
Test the whole chain before launch
Test the actual playlist-to-Ant-Media-to-YouTube route, not just an individual file or server status. Confirm that the playlist advances, audio remains audible, video displays correctly, the YouTube preview appears, and the channel and watch page are accessible as intended. Check playback on a mobile device as well as your operator view.

Decide who will monitor the channel and what they will do if the broadcast stops, loses audio, or triggers a rights warning. Test failure handling where practical and keep an escalation contact for the server operator and relevant rights owners. One successful test establishes only that the chain worked during that test; it cannot establish 24/7 uptime.
Plan upload capacity and ongoing monitoring
The outbound connection from Ant Media to YouTube must sustain the stream’s total bitrate. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the stream bitrate. For example, if the outgoing stream bitrate is 5 Mbps, the recommendation implies at least 6 Mbps of available upload capacity for that stream, before accounting for other traffic or variability. Treat this as headroom guidance, not a guarantee against congestion or outages.

- Keep an operator available to respond to a stopped or impaired stream and to rights or Content ID notices.
- Maintain the rights records and allowlisting confirmations alongside the playlist and channel operating procedures.
Common problems and what to check
| Symptom | Likely check | Action |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not show an incoming stream | Verify that the correct YouTube stream URL and key were entered for the selected Ant Media broadcast, and that the RTMP endpoint was saved. | Compare the endpoint details with the current YouTube Studio live flow. If the key may have been exposed, rotate it in YouTube and update Ant Media. |
| YouTube reports no signal or the stream will not start | Check the Ant Media broadcast state, destination settings and outbound network path. | Confirm that the server can reach the required destination and that the intended broadcast is active; inspect the relevant Ant Media logs and current documentation for your version. |
| Video arrives without audio | The playlist media or stream output may have no usable audio. | Check the audio track in the source files and the outgoing stream. YouTube requires audio for this workflow, according to Ant Media’s RTMP restreaming guide. |
| Playback freezes or drops frames | Possible contributors include insufficient upload headroom, unstable network conditions, or high CPU load. | Check available outbound capacity against YouTube’s 20% headroom recommendation, inspect dropped frames and CPU, and investigate network stability at the server. |
| The live stream is interrupted or replaced by a warning | YouTube may have detected third-party content, or a rights owner may not have allowlisted the channel. | Follow the notice, contact the relevant rights owner, verify the scope of your permission and channel allowlisting, and do not resume the affected music until the rights issue is resolved. |
| The playlist runs, but content repeats or transitions incorrectly | The playlist order, schedule or repeat behavior may not match the intended program. | Review the playlist configuration in the installed Ant Media version and test transitions before relaunching. |

Ant Media Server playlist workflow
Ant Media is a fit when you want to manage a server and application, configure the playlist, connect the RTMP destination and operate monitoring and recovery yourself. Your actual workload, version, hosting arrangement and selected edition determine the deployment details; the available documentation does not support a universal sizing or cost figure. The older Ant Media tutorial using Linode, dated August 19, 2022, is a high-level walkthrough rather than a current server-sizing or pricing guide.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is simply to keep uploaded music videos looping on YouTube without maintaining an always-on home computer, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; uploaded videos stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account.
