You can broadcast recorded CA Foundation lessons as a continuous YouTube Live stream by preparing an eligible channel, sending the feed through an encoder, and monitoring it in YouTube Studio. For dependable 24/7 playback, you must also test the encoder’s file-looping and recovery behavior, keep a local recording, and plan around YouTube’s archive limit: a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
What you need for a continuous classes stream
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Recorded lessons and permission to broadcast every included element, such as slides, voice recordings, music, and other materials.
- An encoder that can send a feed to YouTube and, if you want unattended playback, has been tested with your lesson files for looping and recovery.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the stream, plus a local recording and a tested response to interruptions.
YouTube supports encoder software and dedicated hardware encoders, but its setup guidance does not establish a particular product as necessary or confirm that a specific encoder will loop prerecorded lessons or recover reliably.
Check channel eligibility and enable live streaming
- Verify your YouTube channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Enable live streaming in advance. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until launch day.
- Follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and check that the intended stream settings and audience experience suit your channel.
Confirm you have rights to the lessons
Before broadcasting, make sure you have the necessary rights to the recorded classes and everything in them, including lecture audio, slides, music, and other third-party material. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions put responsibility for necessary rights on the content provider, including relevant music licensing rights, and require compliance with applicable law. Owning or having access to a recording does not by itself establish that you can rebroadcast it.
Configure the YouTube stream and encoder
- In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream you plan to use, following YouTube’s encoder setup workflow.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into the destination or streaming settings in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not share it, publish it, or leave it visible in a screenshot.
- Choose encoder settings that match the lesson source and your available upload bandwidth. YouTube publishes its recommended encoder settings for resolution, frame rate, bitrate, codecs, and keyframe frequency in Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. Do not raise output quality beyond what your source and connection can sustain.
- Send a test feed and wait for the incoming video to appear in YouTube Live Control Room before making the stream public.
For CA lessons, test real class material rather than a static placeholder: confirm that speech is clear, slides are legible, and movement or transitions remain smooth at your chosen output settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS for secure ingest.

Test the full 24/7 playback path
A successful encoder connection only proves that a feed reached YouTube; it does not prove that lessons will keep playing unattended. Before launch, run a realistic test through the same files, network, and equipment you intend to use continuously.
- Check that files play in the intended order and that transitions do not leave a long blank or silent interval.
- Test what viewers see when a file ends, the playlist loops, or the encoder restarts.
- Interrupt power or the network in a controlled test and verify what your setup does when the connection returns. Do not assume automatic recovery unless you have observed it.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and the public watch page on desktop and mobile.
- Enable local recording if available, then confirm the recording opens correctly and its file continues to grow during the test.
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event, starting it at least 15 minutes before the planned start, and monitoring stream quality. Those are useful preparation intervals for a planned launch; they do not guarantee continuous operation.

Plan the archive around YouTube’s 12-hour limit
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That means one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast is not a dependable way to create a complete YouTube archive. YouTube also recommends a local archive as a backup; keep that copy and verify it rather than relying solely on the live replay.
If individual YouTube archives matter, plan and test shorter sessions instead of assuming that a particular restart schedule will preserve every segment. YouTube’s guidance does not promise that any specific segmentation strategy will meet every channel’s needs. Keep local copies of the source lessons and recordings in storage you control.

Size the connection and prepare for interruptions
YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. Include both primary and backup bitrate in your capacity calculation if your setup sends both. A connection that only just matches the stream bitrate leaves little room for variation and may lead to a disrupted feed.
- Measure upload capacity where the encoder will actually run, preferably during the times you expect to stream.
- Leave the recommended headroom above the bitrate load, including a backup feed if one is configured.
- Decide who will respond to a failed stream and how the encoder will be restarted or the stream replaced.
- Monitor the incoming stream and local recording during launch; do not treat an unattended test as proof that recovery will work indefinitely.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream | The channel is not verified, live streaming is not enabled, or a live-stream restriction applies. | Recheck channel eligibility and enablement in YouTube. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours. |
| No feed appears in Live Control Room | The encoder may have the wrong stream URL or key, may not be sending, or may be unable to connect. | Compare the encoder destination with the values shown for the selected YouTube stream, keep the key private, and send a fresh test feed. |
| The preview stutters or drops | The encoder settings may exceed the available upload capacity, or the connection may be unstable. | Check actual upload capacity, leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and lower the stream load if needed. |
| Lessons stop, repeat incorrectly, or leave gaps | File playback, playlist transitions, or loop behavior may not be configured or may not recover as expected. | Test the entire lesson sequence and restart behavior with the chosen encoder before publishing the continuous stream. |
| A long live session is missing from the archive | YouTube may not capture streams exceeding 12 hours. | Keep a local recording and plan shorter sessions if YouTube replays are needed; test your schedule rather than relying on an assumed archive outcome. |
| The live replay is incomplete or the local file is unusable | The archive may not have been captured, or local recording may have failed or run out of storage. | Inspect local files during a test, confirm they play, and ensure storage remains available for the planned recording period. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you do not want a computer or home connection to stay on for continuous playback, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The service loops the uploaded content in the cloud; it does not broadcast a camera feed.
