To run a spa ambience video as a continuous live stream, add it to an OBS scene as a Media Source, enable Loop, connect OBS to your streaming platform with its server details and stream key, then test playback and stream health before leaving it unattended. For several videos, use OBS’s VLC Video source with VLC installed. A computer-based setup depends on the computer, power and internet connection staying available; YouTube says some encoders support continuous 24/7 streams, but a long-running stream is not a guarantee of uninterrupted uptime or one complete archive.
Before you set up the stream
Prepare video and audio you have rights to use
Choose ambience footage and audio that you own or have permission to stream. OBS can play common video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV. Supported playback does not establish that a particular recording or music track is licensed for your use; check the rights for each file.
Keep the files accessible on the computer that will run OBS. If the files are large, make sure there is enough local storage and that the computer will not go to sleep while streaming.
Decide whether to loop one video or a playlist
| Option | Best for | Requirements and controls |
|---|---|---|
| Media Source | One video that should repeat in the same order every time | Select a local file and enable Loop. |
| VLC Video | A playlist of several files | VLC must be installed. OBS provides playlist looping, optional shuffle and visibility behavior controls. |
For a spa stream that should maintain a predictable sequence, use a fixed playlist order. Use shuffle only if you want the sequence to vary.

Set up a looping video in OBS
- Create a scene: In OBS, add or select a scene for the spa stream.
- Add the video: In the Sources box, select + → Media Source. Name the source, choose the local video file and confirm.
- Enable looping: Open the Media Source properties and check Loop. OBS describes this setting as specifying whether the file plays again after playback completes.
- Fit the picture: Check the preview. If the source does not fill the canvas as intended, right-click it in the preview and use Transform → Fit to Screen. Check for cropping or black bars before going live.
- Check audio: Watch the OBS audio mixer while the video plays. Confirm the ambience is audible and not clipping; set a comfortable, consistent level rather than relying on the platform player alone.
OBS source details and supported formats are documented at OBS Media Sources.
Build a playlist for several ambience videos
- Install VLC if it is not already installed.
- In the OBS scene, select + in Sources → VLC Video.
- Add the video files to the source playlist in the order you want them to play.
- Keep Loop Playlist enabled if the list should repeat after its final item. Leave shuffle off for a fixed sequence; enable it only if varied ordering is intended.
- Review the source’s visibility behavior and test what happens when it is hidden or shown in your scene, especially if you use scene changes.
Use a single Media Source if the same file should repeat; use VLC Video when you need a multi-file sequence. These controls are described in the OBS Media Sources documentation.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube’s Live Control Room and create or select the stream.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Select YouTube if it is offered, or select a custom service and enter the server URL supplied by YouTube.
- Copy the stream key from the Live Control Room into OBS. Treat it like a password: anyone with the key may be able to send video to that stream.
- Apply the settings, then start streaming from OBS. Complete YouTube’s go-live step if the Live Control Room prompts you to do so.
- Check the YouTube preview and stream health before you leave the stream running.
YouTube’s encoder workflow is described in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. Its instructions note that some encoders support continuous 24/7 streams.
Choose OBS output settings for YouTube
Set the output to fit both YouTube’s ingest guidance and the upload capacity available to the streaming computer. YouTube’s current help page recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval (not over 4 seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. The page lists these H.264 video bitrate figures:

- Truly Waterless Design — Fill the container with fragrance oil (min. recommended for best performance), plug in, and enjoy. No water, no mess.
- Whisper-Quiet Functionality – Operates almost silently for scenting in homes, offices, or any space.
- Refillable Diffuser Oil Bottles Available - Extra bottles available in our store for replacing or switching oils to match any mood or ambiance.
- Night Light Feature – Customizable, energy-efficient LED night light provides a calming glow while dispersing fragrance oils.
- Ensure Curved Ridge Alignment - After filling/refilling, align curved ridges when replacing the top on the base—or the diffuser won’t function.
| H.264 video mode | YouTube-listed minimum | YouTube-listed recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 4 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube ingestion recommendations, not a universal OBS preset. In OBS, configure the encoder and resolution/frame rate for the chosen service and connection. OBS notes that bitrate depends on upload speed and the streaming service’s limits. Do not select a bitrate that the connection cannot sustain; leave capacity for normal network variation rather than assuming the full measured upload rate is available to the stream.
For YouTube’s current details, see Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. OBS’s streaming and reconnect options are covered in its Overview Guide.

Test before leaving the stream unattended
- Play through the end of the video and confirm it restarts. For a playlist, confirm it proceeds through the intended files and loops at the end.
- Listen to the stream audio and verify that all expected ambience is present at a steady level.
- Check the YouTube preview and stream health while the test is running. Use audio and movement representative of the actual stream.
- Confirm that the computer will not sleep, restart for an update or close OBS when unattended.
- Check the network connection and OBS’s reconnect settings. OBS has an automatic reconnect option, but it is not a guarantee against power loss, computer crashes or extended internet outages.
OBS recommends testing before a first stream in its Quick Start Guide. YouTube also recommends monitoring stream health during a broadcast in its encoder settings guidance.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that a stream running continuously beyond 12 hours will produce one complete archive. If you need a replay, plan for the possibility that the full continuous broadcast will not be available as a single archived video.
