Schedule the service in YouTube Studio, connect OBS to that specific event, and add the archived sermon to a playlist after the broadcast. These are separate jobs: scheduling creates the event and shareable watch page, OBS sends the camera and audio feed, and the playlist organizes the finished video.

Before the service: check channel access and livestream eligibility

Confirm the church’s YouTube channel is verified, has no live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days, and that the person streaming is at least 16. YouTube lists these as livestreaming requirements in its live streaming getting-started guidance. Check eligibility before planning a first service broadcast.

Decide who will operate YouTube Studio during the service. That person needs access to the channel and the scheduled event; the OBS volunteer also needs to know which event is intended to receive the encoder feed. Identify how the church’s camera video and audio reach the computer running OBS. The specific camera, mixer, capture device, and OBS scene depend on the equipment already installed.

Schedule the church service in YouTube Studio

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live.
  2. Open the Manage tab and choose Schedule Stream. Create a new event or reuse settings from an earlier stream.
  3. Enter the service title, date and time, visibility, description, and any other event details the church needs. Check the scheduled time and visibility before saving.
  4. Copy the event’s watch-page link and share it with the congregation in advance. YouTube notes that a scheduled stream can be shared and viewers can set reminders; see its schedule a live stream instructions.

Studio labels and permissions can change. If the menu differs, follow the current YouTube Studio interface and make sure you are editing the intended channel and event.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Connect OBS to the scheduled YouTube event

  1. In the scheduled event’s stream setup, obtain the stream URL and stream key, or use the YouTube service integration available in OBS. Treat the stream key like a password: do not share it in a public checklist, message, or screenshot.
  2. In OBS, open Settings and select Stream. Choose the appropriate YouTube service or enter the server URL and stream key provided for the event. OBS’s streaming guide describes encoder setup; use YouTube Studio for the event’s current connection details.
  3. Select the scene intended for the service. Confirm that the camera image is present and that the expected audio source is active and intelligible. The church’s actual equipment determines the right sources; there is no universal OBS scene or hardware recipe.
  4. Start streaming in OBS, then check the scheduled event in YouTube Studio to confirm that it is receiving the encoder output.
  5. Check the event’s auto-start setting. Starting OBS sends the encoder feed, but it may not make the scheduled event public by itself. Depending on the event configuration, an operator may need to select Go Live in Studio. The OBS guide explains this distinction, while YouTube Studio is authoritative for the controls currently shown on the channel.
  6. At the end of the service, use the ending controls that match the event configuration. Confirm the broadcast has ended and that the video appears in YouTube Studio.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. See its live stream archiving guidance.

Build a sermon playlist and add the archive

A playlist is a collection of videos, not a schedule for future live events. The official playlist instructions do not establish that a scheduled stream is automatically added to a playlist, so check the archive and playlist entry after each service.

  1. After the sermon video is available, open its YouTube watch page.
  2. Select Save, then Create new playlist.
  3. Give the playlist a clear name, such as “Sunday Sermons” or “Church Service Archive,” and choose its visibility deliberately.
  4. Save the playlist. For later sermons, use Save on each video and select the existing playlist.
  5. Open the playlist and verify the new video appears in it.

YouTube’s create and manage playlists instructions describe the desktop flow from a video watch page. Scheduling the event and adding its eventual archive are distinct tasks.

Check the room, audio, network, and volunteer handoff

Keep the production checklist grounded in the church’s actual setup. The Church of England’s beginner guide to streaming church services is relevant to scheduling and sharing a service link. Before each broadcast, assign a named volunteer to watch the scheduled event and check these basics:

  • Key security: Keep the stream key out of public documents and screenshots.

Choose capture hardware only if the signal path needs it

A USB HDMI capture card is relevant only when the church needs to bring an HDMI camera output into the OBS computer. First check the camera’s available outputs, the computer’s inputs, and the resolution and frame rate the church intends to use. Some devices connect directly over USB, and the church may already have a compatible capture path. No particular make or model is established as compatible with a church’s setup; verify the device specifications against the equipment before buying.

Troubleshoot common setup problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check or do
The channel cannot start a livestream. The channel or operator does not meet YouTube’s eligibility requirements. Check channel verification, any live-streaming restrictions from the previous 90 days, and the streamer’s age against YouTube’s current eligibility guidance.
OBS is streaming, but the scheduled event is not live to viewers. Encoder output and making the event public can be separate actions. In Studio, confirm OBS output is reaching the intended scheduled event, then check whether auto-start is enabled or an operator must select Go Live.
The wrong event receives the OBS feed, or no event receives it. The stream key or server URL may belong to a different event, or may have been entered incorrectly. Compare OBS’s selected YouTube service or connection details with the intended event in Studio. Keep the key private while correcting it.
Viewers cannot find the scheduled service. The event link may not have been shared, or the event’s visibility may not match the church’s intention. Check the event’s visibility in Studio and share its watch-page link with the congregation.
The camera image or audio is missing in OBS. The intended device or source may not be selected, connected, or active. Check the service scene and confirm the actual camera and audio signal path into the OBS computer. The right fix depends on the installed equipment.
The sermon recording is missing from the playlist. The archive may not yet be available, or playlist membership was not added separately. Check YouTube Studio for the archived video, add it from its watch page using Save, and verify it appears in the playlist.
