To add a donation ticker in OBS Studio, configure one with a widget provider, copy its widget URL, and add that URL to your scene as a Browser source. The provider handles donations; OBS displays the ticker but does not process payments itself.
What a donation ticker does—and what it does not do
A ticker is an on-screen overlay that can show donation activity. It is separate from the service that accepts or processes donations: OBS Studio does not provide donation facilities. You need a third-party provider or a supported platform fundraising option, then connect that provider’s overlay to OBS.
A donation ticker is also different from a donation goal widget. A ticker displays supporter activity; a goal widget tracks progress toward a campaign target. Choose the ticker feature if you want activity displayed, rather than substituting goal-widget setup instructions.
Set up a Streamlabs Donation Ticker in OBS
1. Find and copy the widget URL
- Sign in to the Streamlabs Dashboard.
- Under Streaming Essentials, open Donation Ticker.
- On the ticker settings page, use Click to Copy Widget URL to copy the widget URL.
Treat this URL as private account configuration. Do not put it on screen as visible text.

2. Add it as a Browser source
- In OBS Studio, select the scene where the ticker should appear.
- In Sources, click the plus button and choose Browser.
- Name the source so you can identify it later, then paste the widget URL into the URL field.
- Set the Browser source’s width and height, then save.
- Position and resize the source in the scene canvas. Check the preview to make sure it is visible and does not cover important content.
Streamlabs says width, height, and FPS can be adjusted if needed. Start with dimensions that fit the ticker’s intended area, then revise them if the overlay looks clipped or too small. Use any preview or test option the provider currently offers, but do not assume a particular test control is available for every ticker.
Using another provider or broadcast application
The same general setup applies to other provider overlays: configure the widget with the provider, copy its URL, and add it through a browser-source feature in your broadcast software. Streamlabs documents its Tip Ticker for OBS, XSplit, and other compatible software; its general widget instructions describe the OBS Browser-source workflow. Exact menu labels and browser-source support vary by application.

OBS lists Streamlabs overlays and StreamElements multi-widget overlays as examples of provider overlays. That does not establish that StreamElements currently offers the exact Donation Ticker feature described here. Before choosing a provider, check that it supports the specific ticker or event display you want, works with your broadcast application, supports your required account or platform, and lets you control the appearance and placement. Verify its current payment terms and availability directly; those details are not established here.
Troubleshoot a missing, clipped, or inactive ticker
- The source is blank or missing: Check that you copied the URL from the correct widget settings and pasted it into a Browser source—not a text or image source.
- The ticker is clipped or tiny: Adjust the Browser source’s width and height, then reposition or resize it in the scene.
- You changed the ticker outside Streamlabs Desktop: Streamlabs says to make widget changes in the Streamlabs web dashboard.
- Donations arrive but no activity appears on screen: Check that the provider receiving those events is the one whose widget URL is in the scene, and that the ticker is included in the active scene.
- You stream directly from a console: Do not assume the console’s native streaming app can render a third-party Browser source. Check the specific app’s capabilities; the setup described here requires software that can display the provider’s overlay.
