You can run a continuous Hindi music program to YouTube from Google Cloud by sending an audio-and-visual feed from either a Compute Engine encoder VM or Google Cloud’s managed Live Stream API. You still need to configure YouTube Live, test the feed, monitor reconnects and restarts, and secure rights for every recording and composition you stream. Neither Google Cloud nor a YouTube stream key grants music rights.
How does a 24/7 YouTube music stream work?
YouTube treats the live broadcast as the event or video and the stream as the incoming audio-video feed. A broadcast is bound to one stream. YouTube’s API documentation describes a channel with a 24/7 live feed and says the same stream can be bound to as many as three broadcasts. That is an API capability, not a requirement to create three broadcasts for a continuous program. See Google’s guide to broadcasts and streams.
Your cloud-side encoder or managed transcoding service supplies the program: the Hindi music audio and an accompanying visual layer, such as a still image or other imagery you have rights to use. YouTube receives that feed and presents it as a live stream. A cloud VM is one way to host an encoder; Google Cloud’s Live Stream API is a managed live-transcoding option. Google’s documentation does not establish a particular VM size, encoder command, or cost as suitable for every stream.
Choose a Google Cloud approach

Compare the options by how much encoding control you need, whether managed transcoding fits your workflow, the restart and recovery design, regional availability, and current total cost. Pricing depends on configuration and region, so do not treat an unqualified VM estimate or a single service figure as the cost of a 24/7 channel. Read the Google Cloud Live Stream API documentation and its quotas and limits before selecting that service.

How to set up the stream
- Choose where the feed will be produced. Decide between a Compute Engine VM running an encoder and the managed Live Stream API. Confirm the service and required features are available in your intended region. For a VM, select its size and software based on your actual audio-video workload; the sources do not establish a universal machine size or encoder configuration.
- Enable YouTube Live and prepare the broadcast. In YouTube, set up the channel for live streaming, then create or configure the broadcast and its incoming stream. The API workflow models the broadcast as the event/video and the stream as the transmitted feed. If you manage this through the YouTube Live Streaming API, authorize requests using the Google Account that owns the channel. Follow the YouTube Live Streaming API overview for the applicable workflow.
- Configure the cloud feed. Provide the Hindi music program as audio and a visual layer through your chosen encoder or managed service, then connect that feed to the incoming YouTube stream using the current settings shown in the relevant service interfaces and documentation. Configuration details depend on the selected encoder or service; do not assume a particular command, bitrate, or machine setting without validating it for your source and output.
- Preview before going public. Use YouTube’s preview and testing workflow to confirm that the audio and visuals arrive correctly before transmitting publicly. The API documentation describes testing with a monitor stream. Check that the program is actually playing and that YouTube reports the expected stream state.
- Monitor the whole path. Watch the encoder or managed channel, the cloud resource, and YouTube’s stream state. Plan how the feed reconnects if YouTube drops it and how the cloud process or channel recovers if it stops. For the Live Stream API specifically, account for the documented 24-hour session behavior: after a channel has been in an active streaming state other than stopped or stopping for 24 hours, Google Cloud may restart it. This is not evidence that a Compute Engine encoder must restart every 24 hours.
- Clear the music before transmission. Confirm that you have rights for the specific sound recordings and underlying compositions, the intended territories, and both live and any archived use. If you licensed third-party works, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted through Content ID. A successful connection to YouTube is not confirmation that the music is cleared.
Can you play Hindi songs on a YouTube live stream?
Only when you have the rights needed for the particular music and use. “Hindi music” is not one rights category: permissions depend on the individual composition, recording, rights holders, territories, and intended use. Buying a track or being able to play it privately does not, by itself, establish permission to broadcast it live or keep an archive.
YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say that the operator represents and warrants that they have all necessary rights for use of the live content worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. YouTube also says that “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream; persistent third-party content can lead to interruption or termination. Even licensed content may be interrupted if the channel is not on the owner’s Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

- Get permission for the specific recording and composition, not just a broad assumption that a genre or playlist is permitted.
- Check that the license covers live streaming, relevant territories, and any replay or archive you plan to keep.
- Ask the rights holder or administrator about Content ID allowlisting for your channel when applicable.
- Do not treat a stream key, cloud account, or successful preview as music clearance.
Operational limits and cost planning
The clearest fixed operational constraint in the Google Cloud documentation is for the managed Live Stream API: Google’s quotas page, updated 2026-09-30 UTC, says a live stream session lasts 24 hours after a channel starts and an active channel may be restarted after that period. Build monitoring and recovery around that possibility if you choose the API. Do not apply this limit to a VM-hosted encoder without evidence.
There is no responsible single cloud bill to quote without a region, VM or service configuration, storage, traffic, and encoding assumptions. Check current Google Cloud pricing for the precise architecture you plan to deploy, and include the resources needed to keep the feed and its recovery process running. The documentation cited here does not establish a price estimate or a production-ready Compute Engine recipe.
