You can build a YouTube Live rerun channel for Indian mobile gameplay in two ways: stream directly from the YouTube app for a phone-only setup, or use an encoder when you need overlays and more audio control. First meet YouTube’s mobile-live requirements; then decide how to make each session distinctive, protect game and music rights, and confirm the archived stream is public if you want viewers to watch it later.
What a YouTube Live rerun channel is—and is not
A rerun channel is an editorial format: you publish gameplay sessions as live broadcasts, then keep the resulting archives available as videos on demand (VODs). It is not a YouTube feature that automatically replays old broadcasts, guarantees public archives, or qualifies a channel for monetization. A live broadcast, its archive visibility, and YouTube Partner Program eligibility are separate things.
YouTube’s mobile live requirements apply in India as elsewhere. Being able to live stream does not grant permission to broadcast every game, soundtrack, or other material in a session.
Check mobile-live eligibility before planning a session
- Your channel needs at least 50 subscribers, must be verified, and must have live streaming enabled.
- You must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days.
- The YouTube app requires Android 8.0 or later, or iOS 8 or later, for mobile live streaming.
- YouTube says the first activation of live streaming can take up to 24 hours.
- The general minimum age to live stream is 16.

What changes below 1,000 subscribers
For a channel with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may limit the audience for a mobile live stream and may set its archive to private by default. Reaching 1,000 subscribers does not necessarily remove the restriction immediately; YouTube says it may take weeks. Check the archive’s visibility in YouTube Studio rather than assuming the live replay is public. YouTube’s mobile-live guidance describes these limits.
Choose phone-only streaming or an encoder

YouTube describes encoders as a common option for gaming streams that use overlays and audio hardware. Whether a particular phone, game, microphone, or audio route works reliably depends on that setup; test it before announcing a session. YouTube’s encoder-streaming instructions explain the workflow.
Set up a direct mobile gameplay stream
- Confirm the channel is ready. Verify the channel, enable live streaming, check subscriber count and recent live-stream standing, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation if YouTube requires it.
- Prepare the phone and game. Update and test the setup you intend to use. Check whether the game’s audio reaches the stream as expected, and make a local recording if you want a backup. Do not assume that a particular phone or carrier will deliver a reliable broadcast.
- Open the live setup. In the YouTube app, choose Create > Live. Enter a clear title and description, choose the visibility and audience setting, and start now or schedule the stream. YouTube’s mobile live help documents creating and scheduling from the app; labels may vary with app version.
- Check the audience setting and rights. Set the audience accurately, and make sure the gameplay, music, and other material are cleared for live use and for the archive. A game’s availability in India does not itself establish streaming rights.
- Run a short test. Check that gameplay, microphone audio if used, and any intended game audio are present and intelligible. A compatible wired earbud or microphone may help with commentary, but compatibility varies by phone and game; commentary is optional.
- End the session and inspect the archive. After the broadcast, open YouTube Studio’s Live area and check the archived item’s visibility. If the goal is a public VOD, change it to public when appropriate. For a channel below 1,000 subscribers, pay particular attention to a possible private default.
Set up an encoder stream for overlays or audio control
- Schedule or create the stream. Open YouTube Live Control Room and create or schedule an encoder stream. Add an accurate title, description, game and session details, visibility, and audience setting.
- Copy the connection details. Copy YouTube’s stream URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it. Reusing stream settings can copy the key, so check that it remains private and reset it if compromised.
- Configure the gameplay scene. Add only the overlays and audio sources you need. Confirm the game capture, microphone, and any permitted game audio are routed to the correct inputs. The exact controls depend on the encoder and hardware.
- Preview before going live. Start sending the encoder feed, then inspect the preview in Live Control Room. Check picture, sound, title, visibility, and audience setting before starting the public broadcast.
- Start the broadcast from the encoder. Once the preview is correct, start streaming in the encoder and confirm the live status in Live Control Room.
- Share the scheduled watch page. Scheduling ahead gives you a watch-page link to share. YouTube says a scheduled stream may appear as upcoming in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can select “Notify me.”
- End and verify the VOD. After the session, check the archive in YouTube Studio’s Live tab and set it public if that is the intended result. Organize full sessions and edited highlights into playlists.
YouTube’s encoder guide and scheduled-live-stream instructions cover the platform workflow. The specific encoder settings and compatibility depend on the encoder, device, and connection; YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish a universal quality outcome.

Make archives dependable and useful as VODs
YouTube can automatically archive streams that are under 12 hours. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, so YouTube recommends keeping a local backup. If an uninterrupted session could approach that limit, record locally and plan to end the live broadcast before it does. Check the resulting archive rather than treating the live page as proof that a complete public VOD exists. YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance explains the archive limit and backup recommendation.
For a repeat schedule, a consistent title format and playlists can make a channel easier to navigate. Still review the game, date, visibility, audience setting, stream key, and rights clearance for every session. Use edited highlights or tutorials to give viewers a distinct way into older gameplay instead of making the channel a shelf of indistinguishable sessions.
Protect rights and avoid treating raw repetition as a monetization plan
Live eligibility does not equal monetization eligibility. YouTube’s Partner Program page lists the full ad-revenue threshold as 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the past 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days, followed by channel review. Unlisted or deleted videos, and live streams that are not converted to VOD, do not count as qualified public watch hours. See YouTube Partner Program eligibility for the current requirements.

Eligible monetized live streams may earn through ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and memberships where available, but ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. These features have eligibility and availability conditions; passing the live-stream requirements alone does not unlock them.
YouTube reviews reused and repetitive material at the channel level. Its July 15, 2025 policy update clarified that the former “repetitious content” label is now “inauthentic content,” covering repetitive or mass-produced content; YouTube said the clarification did not change its reused-content policy. Replaying your own old gameplay is not automatically disallowed, but repeating raw sessions without clear original contribution can create monetization-review risk. Add visible value through commentary, thoughtful editing, tutorial context, or a distinctive recurring format. YouTube’s channel monetization policies explain reused and inauthentic content.
Copyright clearance is a separate issue from reused-content review. You need the relevant rights for both live and archived material, including game and music rights where applicable. YouTube requires live content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Review its Terms of Service and applicable game publisher policies before streaming.

Troubleshoot common rerun-channel problems
The app does not offer Live
Check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, the channel meets the 50-subscriber mobile threshold, and there is no live restriction from the past 90 days. Confirm your phone meets the operating-system minimum and allow time for first-time activation.
The audience is limited or the archive is private
If the channel has more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may limit mobile-live audiences and make archives private by default. Inspect the archive’s visibility in YouTube Studio; do not rely on the default. After passing 1,000 subscribers, some restrictions may still take weeks to clear.
The encoder preview is missing video or audio
Check the stream URL and key, the encoder’s selected capture source, and the audio input routing. Inspect the Live Control Room preview before starting the broadcast. If a key may have been exposed, reset it and update the encoder with the replacement.

The stream is live but the VOD is missing or incomplete
Check YouTube Studio’s Live tab and the archive’s processing and visibility status. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured; preserve a local recording for long sessions and use it to prepare an upload if needed.
Gameplay or music triggers a rights problem
Confirm permissions for the game content and any soundtrack or other included material. Permission to play a game does not necessarily mean permission to broadcast every element of it, and a VOD may remain subject to rights checks after the live session ends.
