Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo play recorded videos on YouTube overnight, send a prerecorded playlist from an encoder to a YouTube event: create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio, enter its stream URL and key in an encoder, configure the video playback, test the feed, then go live. For an unattended broadcast, test the complete setup first—YouTube’s instructions do not promise that a stream will run uninterrupted indefinitely.
Before you set up the stream
Confirm the channel can go live
Enable live streaming and verify the channel in advance. YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Its eligibility guidance also lists a minimum age of 16 for live streaming and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check the current requirements for your account in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
Check rights for every part of the recording
Being prerecorded does not make a video free to rebroadcast. Make sure you have the necessary rights to stream every video and audio component, including music where applicable, and to retain an archive if you plan to do so. The stream is also subject to YouTube’s Community Guidelines and livestream terms. Review YouTube’s livestream terms and its copyright guidance for live streams.
Set up a recorded-video stream with a local encoder
YouTube Studio manages the event; an encoder sends the video feed. For prerecorded playback, the encoder or another playback tool must supply the video files in order and repeat them if you want a loop. YouTube Studio does not turn arbitrary local files into a playlist by itself. YouTube supports software and standalone hardware encoders; a camera, capture card, or particular encoder brand is not inherently required for a prerecorded source.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open the Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live. Create a stream or schedule one in advance. In Live Control Room, open the Stream tab and note the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe this workflow.
- Prepare the playlist in your encoder. Add the recordings in the intended order and set playback to repeat if the program should loop. Check that the files play through to the end, the order is correct, and the audio is present. Encoder controls differ, so use the steps for the encoder you choose rather than looking for a playlist setting in YouTube Studio.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube. In the encoder’s destination or streaming settings, enter the URL and key from Live Control Room. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your event. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio’s stream settings. You can choose YouTube’s RTMPS ingest endpoint when the encoder supports it; RTMPS encrypts the connection. See stream settings and key management and YouTube’s RTMPS guidance.
- Set the video and network output. Match the encoder’s output to the recording and your upload capacity. YouTube recommends having upload bandwidth for the selected bitrate plus 20% headroom. This is preparation guidance, not a guarantee of stability. Its streaming tips cover bandwidth and testing. Use RTMPS for the standard URL-and-key encoder workflow when supported; HLS is not the default for this setup and is described by YouTube as an alternative for HDR or codecs unsupported by RTMP, with higher latency.
- Send a test feed and preview it. Start the encoder, then wait for the incoming signal to appear in Live Control Room. Check picture, sound, timing, and the public or intended private/unlisted watch page. YouTube recommends setting up early and checking the stream on the channel/watch page and mobile devices. Monitor it long enough to catch playback, network, or audio problems before relying on it overnight.
- Go live deliberately. Once the preview is correct, click Go live if the event workflow requires it. Confirm the event is available at the intended visibility and that the recording continues to play as expected.
- End the event cleanly. When the broadcast is finished, end it in YouTube Studio and stop sending from the encoder. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not promise automatic archiving for longer broadcasts. See the encoder setup documentation.
Prepare for an unattended overnight run
A local encoder depends on the computer, playback files, encoder, and internet connection continuing to work. YouTube warns that a connectivity disruption could break a stream; its bandwidth recommendation and preview checks reduce avoidable problems but do not guarantee continuity.
- Use a stable connection and, where practical, wired Ethernet. YouTube describes disconnecting Ethernet as one way to test failover, not as a guarantee that a wired stream cannot fail.
- Check that the computer will not sleep, restart for updates, run out of storage, or lose access to the video files during playback.
- Test the whole playlist and loop behavior before leaving the stream unattended. Watch for silent sections, unexpected gaps, incorrect transitions, or playback that stops at the end of a file.
- For a more advanced setup, YouTube discusses testing a backup encoder by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable and confirming that the player switches to the backup. This requires an appropriately configured backup and is not necessary for every creator. See YouTube’s failover and streaming tips.
Understand copyright, archives, and monetization
Copyright still applies to a live rebroadcast
You need the rights to rebroadcast the complete program, not merely a copy of the files. A recording can contain music, clips, or other material whose rights you do not control. YouTube may enforce copyright rules during a live stream; permission to upload a video elsewhere does not automatically establish permission to rebroadcast it on YouTube.

A long loop is not automatically monetizable
YouTube’s video monetization policies apply to live streams. Its policy identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as ineligible under the inauthentic-content policy, clarified on July 15, 2025. A long runtime or repeated playback does not itself qualify a channel for monetization; eligibility depends on the channel and content under the current policy. Read YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Do not assume an overnight stream will archive
YouTube’s documented automatic archive condition is for streams under 12 hours. If you need a replay, plan for the possibility that a longer stream will not be automatically archived and arrange a lawful recording or shorter event accordingly.

Troubleshooting common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| No incoming signal in Live Control Room | The encoder has not started, or the destination URL/key is wrong. | Confirm the encoder is sending, then compare its destination settings with the current URL and key in YouTube Studio. Reset the key if it may have been exposed. |
| Preview appears, but the event is not live | The encoder feed is arriving, but the event still needs a manual start. | Check the Live Control Room and select Go live if the event workflow requires it. |
| Video stutters, drops, or disconnects | Upload capacity or connection stability may be insufficient for the selected output. | Check available upload bandwidth against the encoder bitrate and YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Test again on a stable connection; wired Ethernet can be a practical option, but is not a continuity guarantee. |
| Stream runs but has no sound | The file may be silent, or the encoder may not be sending its audio track. | Play the source file locally, inspect the encoder’s audio source/output settings, and verify sound in the Live Control Room preview before going live. |
| Playback stops or repeats the wrong material | The playlist order or repeat behavior is misconfigured, or a file fails to play through. | Review the playlist in the encoder or playback tool and test a complete pass, including the transition back to the beginning. |
| Live stream is interrupted by a rights issue | Some material may not be cleared for live rebroadcast. | Review the rights for every video and audio component and YouTube’s copyright guidance before restarting with the same material. |
