To get a YouTube Official Artist Channel (OAC), make sure your music-focused artist channel has an official release delivered to YouTube by a label or distributor, meets YouTube’s policies, and qualifies through at least one of YouTube’s listed partner relationships. Then ask your label or distributor to submit the request. If you do not have one, contact a Music Service Partner listed in YouTube’s Services Directory.
Check whether your artist channel is eligible
YouTube’s OAC criteria combine channel, release, policy, and partner requirements. An artist or band should have:
- A single YouTube channel that the artist owns and operates and that is focused on that artist’s or band’s music.
- At least one official music release delivered to YouTube through a music distributor or label.
- Compliance with YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Copyright policies.
- At least one qualifying relationship: a YouTube Partner Manager, membership in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), a label network that works with a Partner Manager, or music distribution through a partner listed in YouTube’s Services Directory for Music Partners.
YPP is one possible qualification, not a universal requirement. It has separate eligibility rules and an application process; being outside YPP does not by itself rule out an OAC if another listed partner condition applies. See YouTube’s OAC eligibility guidance and its separate YPP requirements.
Add a public video before requesting
YouTube recommends having at least one public video on the artist channel in addition to the distributed official release. This is a recommendation rather than one of the listed core criteria, but an empty channel may face rejection or require extra verification.

Request your Official Artist Channel
- Confirm the release is on YouTube. Check with your label or distributor that at least one official music release has been delivered there and that the artist is correctly identified.
- Check the artist channel. Use one channel focused on the artist or band’s music, and confirm that you own or operate it. Add a public video if the channel has none.
- Review policy compliance. Check the channel and its content against YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Copyright policies before asking for the request.
- Contact your label or distributor. Ask it to request an OAC for the artist channel. YouTube’s Help guidance says, “Please contact your label or distributor to request an Official Artist Channel.”
- If you have no label or distributor, contact a Music Service Partner. Find a partner in YouTube’s Services Directory and confirm it is listed for music services and can submit an OAC request on your behalf.
YouTube does not publish a guaranteed processing time or promise approval simply because an artist believes the criteria are met. The request goes through the label, distributor, or qualifying Music Service Partner—not a direct artist application form described in YouTube’s guidance.
What an OAC does to your channels
An OAC brings together subscribers from the artist’s existing channel and YouTube-generated topic channel, and from a Vevo channel when applicable. Once consolidated, the subscribe button and subscriber count no longer appear on the existing and topic channels; subscribers can see new music videos through the OAC.

This is a specific OAC feature, not a general channel-merging tool. YouTube’s ordinary channel-migration rules do not let users merge or link separate channels through a general merge process. An artist may have a self-managed channel, a partner-provided channel, an automatically generated “Artist Name – Topic” channel, and an OAC; the OAC process does not promise transfer of every channel asset. What to expect after setup
Channel identity and layout
YouTube recommends using the artist or band name, ideally matching the name on the newest release. Use appropriate capitalization and spacing; avoid adding words such as “Official,” “TV,” “Channel,” “YouTube,” or “Productions.” Review YouTube’s artist-channel naming guidance.

The OAC includes artist-focused organization and features such as consolidated subscribers, Analytics for Artists, ticketing, and merch. Availability and display can depend on the channel and its content.
Releases and music videos
YouTube generates the Releases section automatically. It generally places the most recent release first, followed by full-length albums, EPs, and singles in newest-to-oldest order. It features releases where the artist is listed as a primary artist; karaoke releases do not appear. The channel can also display music-video content and a selected featured video. If a release is missing or incorrect, YouTube directs artists to submit feedback. Use YouTube’s contact form for a Vevo channel merge request; send Vevo content issues to Vevo. Once the OAC is active, update the artist image in YouTube Studio.
Analytics for Artists and ongoing status
Analytics for Artists requires owning or managing an OAC. Its views can include performance across the OAC, Vevo, or a label, as well as Art Track metrics. See YouTube’s Analytics for Artists guidance.

An OAC can be suspended and become a standard channel if it receives a Community Guidelines strike or contains content with limited features. YouTube says the OAC is restored automatically after active strikes and limited-feature content are gone, provided the channel otherwise still meets program criteria.

- No qualifying release: Ask the label or distributor to confirm that an official release was delivered to YouTube. An ordinary video upload alone does not satisfy the official-release criterion.
- No partner route: Check whether you work with a Partner Manager, belong to YPP, are in a qualifying label network, or distribute through a listed Music Services Directory partner. If none applies, ask a music distributor or listed Music Service Partner about the request route.
- Artist channel is empty: Upload at least one public video before the request, as YouTube recommends. An empty channel may be rejected or need extra verification.
- Release missing or attributed incorrectly: Submit feedback to YouTube and check with the distributor that the artist is listed as a primary artist. The Releases section does not display karaoke releases.
- Vevo content or channel issue: Use YouTube’s contact form for an OAC/Vevo channel merge request; direct Vevo content problems to Vevo.
- OAC becomes a standard channel: Check for active Community Guidelines strikes or content with limited features. YouTube says restoration follows when those issues are gone and the channel still meets the OAC criteria.
