To keep product videos playing on YouTube around the clock, use an encoder-based live stream: prepare your channel, connect an encoder to YouTube Studio with a stream URL and key, then test the stream and plan how it will be monitored and restarted. YouTube does not offer a special “always-on channel” mode, and its setup guidance does not guarantee that one live event can run indefinitely.
Before you start: check channel eligibility and rights
Your channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. If this is the channel’s first live stream, enable live streaming in YouTube Studio and allow up to 24 hours for activation. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
- Decide whether the broadcast should be public, private, or unlisted.
- Confirm that you have the rights to every video, image, voice-over, and music track in the stream. Product footage does not exempt a channel from copyright rules.
- Choose a person or process to monitor the stream and respond if the encoder, connection, audio, or video fails.
Uninterrupted operation is not guaranteed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its setup guidance does not promise an unlimited runtime or say that every stream longer than 12 hours will be archived. Check current YouTube behavior before building a schedule around a single long event.
Choose an encoder workflow
For a planned product showcase that repeats prerecorded videos, an encoder is the relevant YouTube workflow. It can send a prepared video feed, graphics, and audio to YouTube. Encoders may be software running on a computer or standalone hardware; YouTube does not require a particular brand. Consider input support, setup complexity, cost, unattended operation, and how you will recover from a failure when choosing between them. YouTube describes its available approaches, including encoder streaming, in its guide to live streaming.

A computer-based encoder needs to remain on, connected, and functioning while it sends the stream. A standalone encoder still depends on a working network connection and a recovery plan. No particular encoder model or universal performance result is established here; match the equipment to your inputs and test your own setup.
Create a YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open Live Control Room: In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then create or select an encoder stream.
- Set the stream details: Enter a clear title and description, choose visibility, and set any other relevant metadata.
- Copy the connection details: Copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s server and key fields.
- Protect the key: Treat the stream key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and replace the key in the encoder. Use a custom key only if it suits your workflow.
- Start a private or unlisted test: Confirm that the encoder connects and that the preview appears in Live Control Room before opening the stream to viewers.
YouTube describes stream keys as “your YouTube stream’s password and address” in Manage live stream settings.
Plan the loop and continuity controls
Build a useful product sequence
Arrange videos in a deliberate order: introduce the products, show them clearly in use, and include accurate names or details where helpful. Check that footage and audio loop cleanly and that any on-screen prices, availability, or claims will not become misleading while the broadcast repeats. Avoid implying that a live presenter or a real-time demonstration is happening if the feed is prerecorded.

Choose start, stop, latency, and DVR settings
YouTube’s live settings include auto-start, auto-stop, latency, and DVR. Auto-start and auto-stop can let the encoder control when a stream begins and ends. DVR lets viewers pause and resume the live stream. Lower latency can make a broadcast more immediate, but can also increase playback buffering; for a largely unattended product showcase with little real-time interaction, that trade-off may not be worthwhile. Set quality and test reliability
Choose a resolution and frame rate your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance covers protocol, codec, frame rate, keyframes, and bitrate; use its current recommendations rather than selecting settings on appearance alone. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport and automatically transcodes received streams into output formats for viewers. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrates guidance.

- Test with motion and audio similar to the real product feed, not a static screen.
- Leave 20% upload-bandwidth headroom, as YouTube recommends, and account for any primary and backup streams when checking available capacity.
- Monitor Live Control Room’s stream health and messages during testing and operation.
- Check the watch page and channel page, and confirm playback on a mobile device.
Run the test long enough to catch connection drops, audio problems, and playback issues. A strong-looking picture is not useful if the upload connection cannot sustain it reliably.
Publish and keep watch
Before making the event public, inspect the Live Control Room preview, verify that the intended stream details and visibility are set, and check that the watch page is accessible. For a continuous product channel, define who or what checks video, sound, encoder status, network health, product accuracy, and recovery after a failure. YouTube recommends testing a live setup and checking stream health in its live-streaming tips.
If the stream stops, diagnose the encoder and network first, then reconnect using the current stream key and confirm the preview returns. If you reset a compromised key, update the encoder before trying again. Do not assume that a failed event will resume by itself.

Tag products and understand eligibility
YouTube Shopping product tags are conditional, not a feature available to every channel. Eligible creators can tag their own products after connecting a store, or tag products from other brands when they meet YouTube Shopping requirements. Tags may be added before, during, or after a stream; tags added after the event can appear on the replay. Creators may also pin featured products. Changes made during a stream may not appear immediately to viewers who are already watching, so set the product order and remove irrelevant items before going live when possible. Check YouTube’s product-tagging guidance for current availability and rules.
- Tag only products that are prominently featured and meaningfully relevant to the stream.
- For products from other brands, follow YouTube’s rules on safe use, content eligibility, and rights, including music rights.
- Availability depends on creator eligibility, supported locations and retailers, viewer location, and shipping availability.
- Disclose paid placements and endorsements where required.
The YouTube Shopping affiliate program is a possible native monetization route, not an automatic entitlement. YouTube’s published overview says creators must be in the YouTube Partner Program, meet its subscriber threshold and other channel criteria, and be based in an eligible country. Qualified creators can check the Earn area in YouTube Studio. Program terms and participating brands can change, so check the current requirements in YouTube’s Shopping affiliate program overview; do not assume approval or a particular commission.
Monetization is not guaranteed
Depending on channel eligibility and the stream, YouTube monetization may include ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, or memberships. YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. Review YouTube’s live-stream monetization information and confirm current channel eligibility in Studio.
