To run a Hindi news bulletin on YouTube with OBS, enable live streaming on your channel, connect OBS to a stream in YouTube Studio, build scenes for the presenter, headlines and standby screen, then test a stable video and audio profile before going live. OBS can encode and switch scenes, but a single OBS setup is not a guarantee of unattended 24/7 service. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours; plan stream boundaries and monitoring accordingly.
1. Enable YouTube Live and prepare the stream
- Enable live streaming for your YouTube channel before the broadcast. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this until the scheduled start.
- In YouTube Studio, go to Create → Go Live. Create a stream or select a scheduled one, then set its title, description, audience, privacy and schedule in Live Control Room.
- In the stream settings, copy the server URL and stream key. YouTube describes stream keys as the stream’s password and address. Keep the key private; if it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace the saved key in OBS. See YouTube’s live stream settings guidance.
2. Configure OBS and build bulletin scenes
- In OBS, open Tools → Auto-Configuration Wizard. Follow the prompts so the initial configuration reflects your use case, computer and network. OBS interface labels can change between versions; its Quick Start Guide explains the general setup.
- In OBS settings, select YouTube or enter the stream service details, server URL and stream key copied from Live Control Room.
- Create scenes with names that make sense to an operator. A practical bulletin layout is shown below; these are editorial suggestions, not a tested template.
- Studio / presenter: Add a camera or capture-card source, Hindi name strap, program logo and lower third.
- Headline / graphic: Add an image or media source for a map, photograph, chart or headline card, plus text for the Devanagari headline and attribution.
- Standby / break: Use a branded slate and, if suitable, prepared media.
- Closing: Show an end card and the next bulletin’s schedule or other useful information.
In a scene’s Sources list, higher sources appear above lower ones, so place logo and lower-third text above camera or background sources. Use the OBS preview to position elements. Inspect Hindi text at the final output size; OBS supports text sources, but its documentation does not prescribe a Hindi font or guarantee glyph coverage. Verify that your chosen font renders every character correctly.
3. Check the picture and audio
- Confirm the camera or capture source is visible and framed correctly. Check the preview after switching between every scene.
- In the OBS Audio Mixer, speak into the presenter’s microphone and confirm its meter moves. If not, select the correct device under Settings → Audio.
- Listen for clipping, room noise and unwanted desktop audio. A headset, webcam or capture-device audio may be sufficient; a separate USB microphone is optional, not a requirement.
- Check the final stream for private production material, unreadable headlines and media for which you do not have the necessary rights.
4. Choose resolution, bitrate and audio settings
Choose a mode your computer can encode and your upload connection can sustain. YouTube’s current H.264 guidance gives these figures for common bulletin formats; its minimum and recommended-range values are guidance, not a promise of a particular picture quality.
| Output | Minimum video bitrate | Recommended setting | Upper end of recommended range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | 3 Mbps | 6 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p30 | 5 Mbps | 10 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | 6 Mbps | not stated in the cited guidance | 17 Mbps |
For a presenter and mostly static graphics, 30 fps is often a sensible starting point; 60 fps is generally unnecessary unless the content has motion that benefits from it. Use a speed test and assess actual upload stability rather than setting a bitrate merely because the connection’s advertised speed appears high. YouTube recommends about 20% upload headroom beyond the total stream bitrate, including primary and backup streams if you use one.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Video: H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), progressive scan, square pixels and Rec. 709 for SDR.
- Keyframes: Set a 2-second interval; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Audio: AAC stereo, with YouTube recommending 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz for stereo.
- Resolution and frame rate: Set OBS output to the chosen mode and confirm the computer does not drop frames while encoding.
YouTube also lists H.265 and AV1 as supported video codecs for RTMP/RTMPS, but H.264 is the straightforward baseline described here. See YouTube’s encoder settings and streaming tips for current specifications and connection guidance.
5. Preview the stream before the bulletin
- Set up the encoder at least two hours before the event where possible, and start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start, as YouTube’s live-streaming tips advise.
- Start streaming from OBS and wait for the preview and stream-health information in Live Control Room.
- Check the channel or watch page on a second device. Confirm picture, sound, Hindi headlines, names and any captions are legible.
- When the scheduled workflow calls for it, select Go live in Live Control Room. Monitor audio and video quality throughout the bulletin.
OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends running a short test rather than making a first stream the live event. A test with speech and movement can reveal encoding or connection problems that a static preview will not.

6. Plan for a continuous schedule and archived recordings
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The cited guidance does not establish that an uninterrupted stream longer than 12 hours will be archived in the same way, or guarantee unattended 24/7 operation. If the channel needs retained recordings, decide how to divide the schedule into streams under 12 hours and verify the resulting archives. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls are available for certain stream configurations, but that does not by itself establish a robust continuity or failover system.
Keep an operator monitoring the broadcast and define recovery steps for power, network or encoder failures. The available setup guidance does not identify a specific OBS failover plugin or hardware stack that guarantees continuity. Latency is a separate decision: lower latency can increase playback buffering. For a scheduled bulletin without audience interaction, stable playback may matter more than minimizing delay.

7. Troubleshoot common OBS-to-YouTube problems
| Symptom | Likely checks and fixes |
|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive a signal | Confirm the correct server URL and stream key are configured in OBS and that the stream is started. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS. |
| Live activation is unavailable | Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation, then check the channel’s live eligibility and YouTube Studio status. |
| Video or audio stutters | Check OBS dropped frames and encoder load; reduce output resolution, frame rate or bitrate if the computer or upload connection cannot sustain the selected profile. Preserve YouTube’s recommended keyframe interval and allow upload headroom. |
| No microphone level appears | Select the intended microphone in Settings → Audio, then speak and check the Audio Mixer meter. Ensure the selected device is connected and not muted. |
| Hindi text shows missing or incorrect glyphs | Choose a font with the required Devanagari glyph coverage and check the text in OBS preview at final output size before going live. |
| Archive is missing or incomplete after a long broadcast | Check whether the stream exceeded 12 hours. Plan shorter stream segments when automatic archiving is important; do not assume a longer transmission will be archived automatically. |
