Streamlabs’ setup guide, last updated July 8, 2026, describes connecting either PayPal Business or PayPal Standard; its May 20, 2026 quick guide recommends Business for more payment options and says it is required for credit-card tipping in the documented flow. Options depend on your country and account, so check the choices shown during setup.
Connect PayPal to Streamlabs
- Open Tipping: Sign in to the Streamlabs Dashboard and select Tipping.
- Choose a PayPal option: Select Connect beside PayPal Business or PayPal Standard, depending on the options available to you.
- Authorize the connection: Sign in to PayPal in the connection window and accept the requested terms or permissions. Business-account onboarding may request additional information, depending on your account type and country.
- Configure your Tip Page: Back in Streamlabs, review the Tip Page settings. Set the available currency, minimum and suggested tip amounts, design, and message. If you want to offer recurring support, check the setting for monthly tipping.
- Share the page: Copy the Tip Page URL from the Tipping area and add it to places viewers can find it, such as your channel description or stream panels.
Streamlabs’ help articles show different dashboard layouts and labels across versions. Look under Tipping and follow the controls currently displayed in your account rather than relying on an older screenshot.
Choose PayPal Business or Standard

Business is the more suitable documented choice if you want credit-card tips or more control over personal-information visibility, provided it is available to you. Do not assume a Business account conceals all details: payment processors and banks may display information according to their requirements.
What happens when someone tips
Streamlabs says PayPal processes tips directly from the donor to the creator; Streamlabs does not hold those funds. Streamlabs also says it does not take a cut of tips, but payment-processing fees may apply. The sources do not establish one universal PayPal fee or payout time, so check the terms that apply to your account and region. For a payment or chargeback issue, contact PayPal and include the transaction ID if you have it.

Streamlabs says viewers must log in before tipping to help reduce fraud and chargebacks. A viewer without a PayPal account may be offered guest checkout by providing an email address and phone number, but that option is not universal. Streamlabs’ guide also describes optional PRO effects purchased by a viewer; it says that fee is billed to the donor and appears as “Partner commission” in the donor’s PayPal dashboard, rather than as a charge to the creator.
Streamlabs supports both one-time and monthly tips. Monthly support must be enabled in the Tip Page settings.

Troubleshoot setup and payment problems
- A tip is missing: Check PayPal’s recent activity. PayPal may be asking you to accept the payment manually.
- A viewer gets a payment error: Check whether both the sender’s and recipient’s countries and accounts support the selected PayPal payment method. Streamlabs notes that some countries cannot receive PayPal payments.
- A payment or chargeback is disputed: Contact PayPal with the transaction ID, if available. Streamlabs says it does not hold the funds.
- The linked PayPal address changed unexpectedly: Check account access and administrator permissions, secure the connected streaming-platform account, and contact PayPal.
