How to Set Up the Streamlabs Loupedeck Plugin

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To set up the Streamlabs plugin, install Loupedeck software and Streamlabs Desktop, enable the plugin in Loupedeck’s Action panel if it is hidden, then drag Streamlabs actions onto your Loupedeck buttons or dials and configure them. Keep Streamlabs Desktop open while you use scene and source actions. If the apps will not connect, close OBS Studio and other streaming apps, start Streamlabs Desktop, then relaunch Loupedeck.

What you need before you start

  • Streamlabs Desktop, installed and signed in to the platform you intend to stream on. Prepare the scenes and alerts you want to control.
  • Loupedeck software and a compatible Loupedeck console. Loupedeck’s setup guide covers Live, Live S, and CT; the plugin is not a standalone Streamlabs add-on. See Loupedeck’s Streamlabs setup guide.
  • Current versions of both applications. Streamlabs’ integration guide lists OS X 10.15 or later and Windows 10 or later for Loupedeck software, but those are the guide’s stated requirements, not a guarantee of current compatibility. Check the vendors’ current requirements for your system. The guide’s installation walkthrough is for Windows: Streamlabs’ integration guide.

Version notes can help explain differences you see: Loupedeck says streaming plugins, including Streamlabs, are preinstalled in software version 5.2 and later. Streamlabs says its plugin is integrated into Loupedeck devices from version 5.8 onward, specifically noting newer dynamic folders for scenes and sources. These version references describe the documentation’s software behavior; use the current vendor guidance for your installation.

Install and enable the Streamlabs plugin

  1. Install both applications. Install Streamlabs Desktop and Loupedeck software for your operating system. Streamlabs’ walkthrough says to leave Streamlabs Desktop closed while beginning its Loupedeck installation sequence; Loupedeck’s current setup guide asks that current versions of both apps be installed.
  2. Check plugin visibility in Loupedeck. Open Loupedeck software and go to the Action panel, then select Hide and show plugins. If Streamlabs is hidden, use its eye control to show it. The plugin should be preinstalled in Loupedeck software 5.2 and later, according to Loupedeck’s plugin visibility instructions.
  3. Open Streamlabs Desktop. Start Streamlabs Desktop and leave it running while you configure and use the integration. The newer dynamic folders for scenes and sources sync with the app, so its scenes and sources can appear as available actions.
  4. Assign actions to controls. In Loupedeck’s Action panel, find the Streamlabs action or action type you want and drag it onto a Loupedeck button or dial. Loupedeck’s setup guide gives the same drag-and-drop workflow.
  5. Configure and save. Some actions need additional settings. Set those in the action’s configuration, then save your layout. For touch buttons, you can customize the icon, color, or text where useful.

Arrange controls for your stream

Choose controls around tasks you perform during a broadcast rather than trying to put every action on one page. For example, group scene changes on a workspace or touch page, then place audio adjustments and streaming or recording toggles where you can reach them easily. These are optional layout ideas from Streamlabs’ walkthrough, not required setup steps.

Test each assigned control in Streamlabs Desktop before relying on it live. Confirm that scene buttons switch to the intended scene and that toggles or audio actions affect the expected setting.

Fix connection, plugin, and scene problems

Loupedeck says “Streamlabs is not running” or shows a disconnected status

Open Streamlabs Desktop and check that both applications are current. If Loupedeck still does not connect, restart Loupedeck software. Loupedeck’s guide describes a yellow connection dot, while older setups may show a red dot; the wording and indicator can vary by version.

“Couldn’t connect to Streamlabs Desktop”

  1. Close OBS Studio, Streamlabs Desktop, Loupedeck, and other streaming apps.
  2. Stop Loupedeck from its system-tray menu if it is still running.
  3. Open Streamlabs Desktop first, then launch Loupedeck software again.

Loupedeck says OBS Studio and Streamlabs Desktop cannot run simultaneously in this setup because they use the same process underneath. Its troubleshooting steps are documented at Loupedeck’s Streamlabs connection support page.

A newly created scene or source has not appeared

Keep Streamlabs Desktop running and allow time for the dynamic folders to sync. Loupedeck notes that a new scene or source may take a short while to show up when Loupedeck software is already open.

Or let it run in the cloud

A Loupedeck plugin controls Streamlabs Desktop; it is not a way to keep a pre-recorded YouTube broadcast running after your computer is off. If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream from uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer can be off while it loops the video from the cloud.
