Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To share slides during a livestream, use the platform’s built-in presentation feature if it supports your deck, share a browser tab or application window when you need the original presentation’s features, or capture the deck in OBS for more control over the on-screen layout. For a camera alongside the slides, add both as stage or scene sources, then check the actual stream output before going live.
Choose the right way to show your slides
The best method depends on what the deck contains and how much layout control you need. A built-in slide tool is often simplest; screen sharing preserves features such as animations, audio, or video; OBS can combine slides, a camera, and other sources in a custom scene.
| Method | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in presentation | Presenting a straightforward deck without capturing another app | Features in the original deck may not carry over. StreamYard says its built-in presentations do not support animations, audio, or video. StreamYard presentation guidance |
| Share a browser tab or app window | Keeping the deck’s own slideshow behavior, including supported animations or media | You need to select the correct tab or window and manage the live studio while presenting. StreamYard screen-sharing guidance |
| OBS capture source | Composing slides with a camera and other scene elements | Capture-source names and availability depend on your operating system and version. OBS Quick Start Guide |
If you have only one monitor, a built-in slide presentation can reduce app switching. With two monitors, you can keep the studio controls on one display and the slideshow on the other. StreamYard recommends two monitors as a way to make screen sharing and slide control easier. StreamYard screen-sharing guidance
Share slides using StreamYard’s built-in presentation tool
Use this route for a deck that does not rely on animations, audio, or embedded video. StreamYard’s documented upload formats include .pptx, .ppt, .pps, .ppsx, .odp, and .pdf; you can also import Google Slides. StreamYard presentation guidance

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open the StreamYard studio and select Present > Slides.
- To import Google Slides, sign in to Google and grant the requested access. To use a local deck, upload a supported file.
- Wait for the presentation to process, then add it to the stage.
- Use the on-screen controls to move through the slides. Before the broadcast, confirm the deck is visible in the stage preview.
Uploaded media presentations do not persist after leaving the studio, according to StreamYard’s guidance. If you need the deck in a later studio session, plan to upload it again. StreamYard presentation guidance
Share a Google Slides deck from a Chrome tab
Sharing the slideshow itself is the better fit when you need presentation features that the built-in slide tool does not support. StreamYard’s screen-sharing guidance describes selecting a Chrome tab for Google Slides. StreamYard screen-sharing guidance

- Open the deck in Google Slides and start the StreamYard studio.
- In the studio, choose Present > Share Screen.
- In the browser’s sharing prompt, select the Chrome tab containing the deck. Enable the share-audio option if you need to transmit tab audio; StreamYard says audio sharing is supported for Chrome tabs. StreamYard screen-sharing guidance
- Start the slideshow in Google Slides. If the share is not already on stage, add it to the stage in the studio.
- Advance using the spacebar, arrow keys, or mouse click. Check that the slide changes appear in the studio preview.
Share a PowerPoint presentation
For PowerPoint, share the slideshow window or the monitor displaying it, rather than assuming the live studio can show the deck directly. With multiple monitors, StreamYard’s instructions note that disabling Use Presenter View may be necessary to show the slideshow on only one screen. StreamYard presentation guidance
- Open the deck in PowerPoint and start the slide show from the beginning or from the current slide.
- If you use more than one monitor, check PowerPoint’s Use Presenter View setting. Disable it if needed to put the slideshow on the screen you intend to share.
- In the StreamYard studio, choose Present > Share Screen, then select the PowerPoint Slide Show window or the correct display.
- Add the share to the stage if required. Return to the slideshow window to advance, and watch the studio preview to make sure the audience sees the intended slide.
Show slides and your camera together
In a browser-based studio, add the slide share to the stage, then add or enable your camera and arrange the stage elements as the studio allows. In OBS, capture the presentation and camera as separate sources, then position and resize them in the scene. Keep important slide text large enough to read after the stream is viewed on a smaller screen.

Do not assume a layout shown in a meeting interface will also appear in its recording or livestream. Zoom says its presenter layouts can place shared content and presenter video together in meetings or webinars, but those layouts are not supported in cloud recordings or live streaming. Use OBS to compose slides, camera, and other sources
OBS can capture an entire display or, on supported configurations, an application window. Add the capture source and webcam to a scene, arrange their size and position, configure audio, and check the result before streaming. Follow the current OBS documentation for your operating system: source names and availability differ by OS and version. OBS identifies macOS Screen Capture for macOS 13 or newer; the older Display Capture source is available on Windows and macOS through 12.6, while Linux uses other capture paths. - Configure audio sources if you need narration or presentation audio. Verify levels and listen to a test recording or stream output.
- Check the complete scene and stream settings before going live. OBS’s Quick Start Guide advises running a test for a few minutes rather than jumping straight into a first stream. OBS Quick Start Guide
For platform-specific capture steps, consult OBS’s documentation for Window Capture, Display Capture, and macOS Screen Capture. These source options are not interchangeable across every OS and version.

- Audience view: Confirm that the preview shows the intended slide, not presenter notes, desktop clutter, or an unrelated window.
- Slide control: Advance several slides and verify that the change reaches the live preview.
- Camera placement: Check that your camera does not obscure important text or graphics and that both camera and slides are visible in the intended layout.
- Audio: If the deck contains audio or video, confirm that the selected sharing route supports it and that the audience can hear it. StreamYard’s built-in presentation tool does not support presentation audio or video; its guide says Chrome-tab audio sharing is supported.
