It depends on your platform. VALORANT on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is built for controller play. On PC, Riot’s documentation explains where to inspect controls but does not confirm that Fire can be assigned to a keyboard key. Are you on PC, or on PS5/Xbox?
On PS5 or Xbox, play the console version with a controller
Riot supports VALORANT on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as a controller-based console game. Use the console’s standard controller—the PS5 DualSense controller or an Xbox Series X|S controller—to aim and fire. Riot says keyboard and mouse are unsupported on console; using an input spoofer to imitate controller input can result in a ban. See Riot’s Riot Games Console Access Guide and VALORANT Console Guide.
This is a platform switch, not a way to enter PC matches with a controller: Riot separates console and PC matchmaking. The supported console platforms are listed on the VALORANT Console page. Console aiming also has its own design: Xbox Wire describes Focus mode, a lower-sensitivity shooting mode that complements hip-fire, as part of the controller adaptation. It is console-specific context, not a setting to use on PC. Read Xbox Wire’s explanation of VALORANT’s console adaptation.
On PC, check the controls—but don’t assume Fire can be put on a key
Riot’s PC keybind documentation directs players to Settings > Controls > Actions, where you can review available bindings. VALORANT also supports agent-specific keybind profiles and shows binding conflicts. However, Riot’s documentation does not establish whether the current PC build allows the Fire action to be assigned to a keyboard key. So there is no verified keyboard-only remapping procedure to give here; inspect the available actions in your own game rather than relying on an unsupported instruction. If your mouse stopped working on PC
If you want to stay on PC and the mouse is malfunctioning, Riot’s basic troubleshooting is to check in-game key bindings and test another mouse or keyboard. Follow its Troubleshooting Keyboard/Mouse Issues guidance. A replacement mouse restores the conventional PC input route; it is not a solution for someone who cannot use any mouse.

- Open Settings > Controls > Actions and check for a binding conflict or changed control.
- Test another mouse or keyboard to determine whether the problem is with the peripheral.
- Do not use input spoofers, scripts, or other workarounds to make unsupported mouse-and-keyboard input appear to be a controller on console.
