For a 24/7 Gurbani stream, use YouTube Giving’s Donate button when the fundraiser is for an eligible nonprofit and your channel qualifies. Otherwise, place a legitimate external fundraiser link in the stream description and direct viewers there with a brief on-screen cue. Don’t post a raw URL in live chat: YouTube says URLs aren’t allowed there. Make clear who will receive the money and what it supports.
Choose the right way for viewers to give
Start by deciding whether donations are for an eligible nonprofit or whether viewers are supporting your channel. These are different kinds of payments, and the label should match the destination.
| Option | Best for | Where viewers find it and what to know |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube Giving Donate button | A fundraiser for an eligible nonprofit, if your channel and location qualify | Attach the fundraiser to a video or scheduled live stream in YouTube Studio. After its start date, the Donate button appears on the watch page or in live chat. See YouTube Giving donation guidance and fundraiser setup and eligibility. |
| External nonprofit fundraiser | A nonprofit campaign when YouTube Giving is unavailable or unsuitable | Put the destination in the stream description and direct viewers to it. YouTube recommends end screens for eligible video formats; an end screen is not a persistent overlay for a continuous live stream. See YouTube’s fundraising guidance. |
| Super Chat or Super Stickers | Paid interaction or support for the creator | These are fan-funding features, not donation tools. Don’t describe them as charitable donations unless a separate, accurate arrangement applies. See YouTube’s commerce monetization policies. |
YouTube says it covers transaction fees for donations made through YouTube Giving, so the donated amount goes to the eligible nonprofit. It also says creator-pledged donations are not verified by YouTube as reaching a nonprofit. Explain the distinction to viewers, and don’t promise a charitable outcome you cannot substantiate. YouTube Giving donations to nonprofits are non-refundable. Details are in the YouTube Giving FAQs.
Check whether your channel can use YouTube Giving
YouTube’s current general eligibility guidance lists supported locations, YouTube Partner Program membership, at least 10,000 subscribers, and a channel that is not designated Made for Kids. Availability and requirements can change, so check the fundraiser flow in YouTube Studio and confirm that the nonprofit you intend to support appears there. The YouTube Giving setup page has the current criteria and location information.

Set up a donation destination for the 24/7 stream
If YouTube Giving is available
- Open YouTube Studio and check whether YouTube Giving is available to your channel.
- Choose the eligible nonprofit and create the fundraiser. Confirm that the displayed recipient is the organization you intend to support.
- Attach the fundraiser to the relevant video or scheduled live stream in the fundraiser flow.
- Check the stream’s watch page after the fundraiser start date to confirm that the Donate button is visible. YouTube says it can appear on the watch page or in live chat.
If you need an external nonprofit fundraiser
- Choose a legitimate fundraiser destination that clearly identifies the nonprofit and campaign. YouTube names GoFundMe and JustGiving as examples of third-party fundraising sites for eligible campaigns; that is not an endorsement.
- Add the full destination to the stream’s associated description, with a short explanation of the recipient and purpose.
- Add a concise overlay or spoken cue such as “Support [recipient]’s [purpose] — link in the description.” Treat the overlay as a signpost, not as a guaranteed clickable link.
- Open the stream as a viewer on the formats and devices your audience uses. Confirm the description link is present and usable, including when the stream is viewed in an embed.
YouTube’s guidance suggests end screens for linking to an external fundraiser on eligible video formats; they can be added to a video’s last 5–20 seconds. That is useful for a replay or other video placement, not a persistent element throughout a 24/7 broadcast. See YouTube’s fundraising guidance.
Make the link findable without relying on live chat
Don’t paste a raw donation URL into live chat. YouTube’s viewer help says URLs aren’t allowed in live-chat messages. Link support also differs by stream format: YouTube’s format comparison says horizontal live streams allow clickable links in chat and the channel description, while vertical live feeds do not. Put the destination in the stream description and test how it appears to viewers in the exact format you use. See YouTube’s live-stream format guidance and live-stream setup help.

- Use a short, unobtrusive cue that names the recipient or purpose and points to the description.
- Keep the cue readable and available to viewers who join at any time; a 24/7 stream has no single beginning at which everyone sees an appeal.
- If the stream is affiliated with a gurdwara or another institution, confirm the recipient details and preferred wording with that organization. YouTube’s platform guidance does not establish a Gurbani-specific donation practice.
Be transparent about who gets the money
State whether the destination is YouTube Giving or an external fundraiser, name the recipient, and describe what the appeal supports. For an external campaign, make claims only about handling or use of funds that the organizer can substantiate. Do not encourage viewers to click ads as a way of donating. YouTube’s fundraising guidance cautions that it does not verify creator-pledged donations reach a nonprofit; its rules and explanations are available in the fundraising guidance.
Troubleshoot common donation-link problems
- No Donate button appears: Check channel and location eligibility, confirm the nonprofit is available in the fundraiser flow, and verify that the fundraiser has reached its start date.
- Viewers cannot click the destination: Confirm the link is in the description, not only in an overlay or chat message. Check the stream format and test it as a viewer; vertical and horizontal live formats have different link support.
- The link works on the watch page but not in an embed: Direct viewers to the stream’s YouTube watch page and test the description in the viewing context they are using.
- Viewers think creator support is charity: Clarify whether the funds go to the creator or a nonprofit. Super Chat and Super Stickers are paid fan-funding features, not donation tools.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the stream itself needs to keep running without a computer or home connection left on, StreamNeo is a cloud service for looping uploaded videos to YouTube. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo supports YouTube streams, not camera broadcasts. It runs the broadcast; donation links still need to be set up in YouTube Giving or placed in the stream description as explained above. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
