To show a still image during a YouTube meditation livestream, add it to an OBS scene as an Image Source, connect OBS to YouTube with your stream URL and key, then check the Live Control Room preview before going live. The image is static; the broadcast still depends on a running encoder, power, and a working internet connection, so this setup alone does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 stream.
Before you start
- Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Install OBS and have the still image you want to display ready on the computer running OBS.
- Make sure you can access YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and keep your stream key private. YouTube explains the encoder setup in its guide to creating a live stream with an encoder.
Set up the still image in OBS
- Create or select a scene. In OBS, use the Scenes dock to select an existing scene or add a new one for the meditation stream.
- Add the image. In the Sources dock, select the plus button and choose Image (an Image Source). Choose the image file and confirm. OBS Image Sources can display a still image or slideshow; see the OBS Sources Guide.
- Fit it to the canvas. Resize and position the source in the preview so it fills or sits within the stream canvas as intended. Check the edges for unwanted bars, cropping, or empty space.
- Add meditation audio if needed. If the stream includes audio, add and configure its source separately. Confirm that the audio is playing and at the intended level in the preview; the image source does not provide audio.
Connect OBS to YouTube
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or select the one you plan to use.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream into OBS’s streaming settings. YouTube describes the key as the information an encoder uses to send its feed to YouTube. Treat it like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone you do not trust.
- Start streaming from OBS. Wait for the incoming feed and preview to appear in Live Control Room, then verify that the image and audio look and sound right before starting the public broadcast.
Choose encoder settings YouTube supports
A still picture reduces visual complexity, but OBS is still sending a live video feed. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance recommends RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval for its listed RTMP/RTMPS settings; H.264 is a broadly supported video codec option.
- Resolution and frame rate: Choose a stream format appropriate for the image and your connection. A static scene does not need elaborate motion, but the outgoing stream still uses the resolution and frame rate you configure.
- Bitrate: Use YouTube’s published ranges for your selected resolution, frame rate, and codec, and choose a rate your upload connection can sustain consistently. A high setting that exceeds available upload capacity can make the stream unstable.
- Keyframes and rate control: Set a two-second keyframe interval and CBR for the listed RTMP/RTMPS guidance. Use RTMPS where available in the encoder setup.
Do not assume one bitrate is right for every channel or connection. Check YouTube’s current table for the exact resolution, frame rate, and codec you intend to send.
Test the stream and plan for interruptions
Before relying on a long broadcast, start OBS, confirm the Live Control Room preview, and check YouTube’s stream-health indicators. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health and describes stopping the primary encoder or unplugging Ethernet as ways to test failover. A test can help you find problems, but it does not establish that the setup will remain online indefinitely.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a 24/7 stream, the computer running OBS, its power, the encoder, and the internet connection all need to remain available. Decide how you will notice an interruption and restart the encoder or switch to a backup. YouTube’s cited guidance recommends testing and monitoring; it does not promise an uptime level for an OBS setup.
Understand replay and archive limits
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its encoder instructions do not promise that a broadcast longer than 12 hours will be archived in full. If preserving a replay matters, check YouTube’s current guidance and consider keeping a local recording or dividing the broadcast into shorter sessions.

Cloud alternative for an always-on YouTube image stream
YouTube’s encoder guide names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. That guide does not establish whether Gyre accepts a still image directly, nor does it state current pricing or commercial terms; verify those details with the provider before choosing it.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is another option for a YouTube stream built from uploaded media. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud; it does not go live from a camera, and it streams to YouTube only.

Copyright and channel considerations
A still image does not grant permission to use the image, music, chants, or other audio in a broadcast. Use material you created, licensed, or otherwise have permission to stream, and check the terms of any license for livestream and replay use. YouTube’s live-stream eligibility guidance and stream-health documentation are useful checks, but they do not replace rights clearance for the content you upload.

If the broadcast uses a single image with extended audio or repeated material, make sure the stream offers viewers a genuine, permitted meditation experience rather than relying on repetition as a substitute for rights or channel-policy compliance. Check YouTube’s current rules for the specific content and monetization plans involved.

- The image is missing from the preview: Confirm the Image Source is enabled and points to an existing file. Re-select the image if it was moved, then check that the source is visible in the scene.
- The image is cropped or has empty borders: Adjust its size and position against the OBS canvas, then inspect the Live Control Room preview rather than relying only on the editor view.
- YouTube does not receive the stream: Check the stream URL and key in OBS, confirm the selected stream in Live Control Room, and verify that the channel is eligible to livestream.
- The preview buffers or stream health is poor: Check the upload connection and lower the bitrate to a level it can sustain, using YouTube’s settings guidance for the selected resolution and frame rate.
- The stream stops while unattended: Check power, internet availability, and whether OBS or the computer stopped. Have a way to notice the interruption and restart or fail over; the still image itself cannot prevent an encoder or network failure.
- The replay is incomplete or absent after a long broadcast: Do not rely on a stream longer than 12 hours being archived in full. For replay preservation, check YouTube’s current archive guidance and consider local recording or shorter sessions.
