What viewers see—and where Super Chats appear
A Super Chat is a viewer-purchased message highlighted in live chat. Its color and how long it stays pinned depend on the purchase. Super Stickers appear in the same live-chat context. Moderators can moderate these paid messages like other chat messages, and messages that violate policies may be removed. Viewers should open the livestream’s YouTube watch page if they want to participate in chat. YouTube says live chat is available on watch pages, not embedded players. Learn about live streams.
Check channel and Super Chat eligibility
- The channel must have livestreaming enabled and be verified, with no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says streamers must be at least 16 years old. See Get started with live streaming.
- Supers are a YouTube Partner Program feature, and availability depends on channel and stream eligibility. For an eligible stream, Super Chats and Super Stickers are available when live chat is on. The channel’s language being Hindi does not replace or add to these documented requirements.
- In YouTube Studio, review the channel’s Earn area for fan-funding eligibility. To earn through fan-funding features, accept the Commerce Product Module and enable the individual features for which the channel is eligible. See Choose how you want to monetize.
Set up the livestream and check the chat feed
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a stream or select a stream you have already set up. For encoder-based streaming, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the corresponding fields in your encoder. Keep the stream key private; it gives the encoder access to send video to your stream. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and live stream settings guidance cover these settings.
- Turn on live chat. Super Chats and Super Stickers appear in the live-chat feed on eligible streams when chat is on. Check the stream’s chat controls in Studio before starting.
- Preview the stream before going live. Confirm that the preview displays correctly and that the stream is accessible from the channel and its watch page. Check the picture and sound on the devices your viewers are likely to use, including a phone.
- Watch the active feed in Live Control Room. As the stream runs, look for highlighted paid messages in the live chat feed. Moderators can respond to or remove messages under the same moderation rules used for other chat messages.
- Keep monitoring audio and video. A chat feed can be working while the stream itself has a picture or sound problem, so check both during the broadcast. YouTube’s live streaming tips recommend previewing and monitoring the stream.
Plan a 24/7 schedule around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. It does not promise automatic archiving for a single stream that runs longer than 12 hours. If you want an archive as well as continuous programming, plan a stream handoff or a separate archive workflow rather than assuming one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be saved automatically. For a continuous channel, decide in advance how the stream will be restarted or handed off, who will monitor the chat, and how the recording will be preserved. Do not treat a 24/7 schedule as a guarantee that a single stream session or archive will continue indefinitely.
