Follow the prompts to finish signing in or complete the Epic account setup. Using the Xbox profile that holds your game progress is the key to finding the right account.
Epic may have created an account for you automatically the first time you played an Epic game on Xbox. If you want that progress and its purchases, complete or access the existing account rather than creating a separate one.

Sign in with the Xbox account that has your progress
- In a browser, open Epic Games sign-in. If an Epic account is already signed in, sign out first. A private or incognito window can also help avoid using the wrong saved session.
- Select the Xbox sign-in option.
- Enter the email and password for the Xbox account you used to play the game whose progress you want.
- Follow the on-screen prompts. If Epic asks you to complete account setup, do so rather than creating another account. Any email Epic requests for the account can be different from the email used for your Xbox account.
If Epic prompts you to sign in with Epic credentials instead, check that you selected the correct Xbox profile. For more detail, follow Epic’s Xbox progress and sync instructions.
Check which Epic account is linked before changing anything
If your Xbox account is already linked, sign out of Epic in the browser, then choose Xbox sign-in and authenticate with the Xbox profile you play on. This can reveal the Epic account associated with that profile. You can also check the Epic account’s Linked accounts page and confirm that Xbox appears there.

Do not unlink as an initial diagnostic step. Epic warns that unlinking an automatically created account can remove access to game data when you play from that platform. If you have different progress on multiple platforms, choose which platform’s progress to keep before linking: Epic says those progress histories cannot be combined through this process.
Fix common Xbox sign-in and linking problems
“You haven’t signed in on this account before”
Epic says this message means the external account is not properly linked to the Epic account currently in use. Check Linked accounts. If Xbox is not listed, follow the Xbox linking flow. If it is listed, make sure you are signed into the Epic account that Xbox is connected to. See Epic’s instructions for this error.

“This account for Xbox is already linked to another Epic Games account”
The Xbox profile is associated with a different Epic account, which may have been created when you first played without completing a link. Sign out or use a private browser window, then sign in to Epic with the Xbox option to identify the associated account. If prompted to complete its setup, finish that first.
If you need to move Xbox to another Epic account, first identify which account holds the progress you want. Epic’s console-linking instructions describe unlinking the currently associated account and linking Xbox to the intended one. Read the warning before confirming: unlinking can affect access to game data. Complete the remaining steps before launching the game.

Progress or purchases are missing
- Confirm that the Xbox profile currently in use is the one where the expected progress appears.
- Sign into Epic using that Xbox profile and verify the Epic account identity.
- Check Linked accounts to see whether Xbox is connected to that Epic account.
- Do not unlink until you understand which account contains the progress and have reviewed Epic’s warning about data access.
You normally sign in through Xbox and do not know an Epic password
Use Xbox sign-in to locate the associated Epic account. Console-only players may not yet have an email associated with the account; complete the prompts to add the requested account details. If an email and password are already associated with the Epic account, Epic says you can use them to sign in as well. See Epic’s guidance on external sign-in and email/password access.
You want to change the linked Xbox account
Sign into the Epic account connected to the console, open Linked accounts, select the Xbox account, and choose Unlink. Review the warning carefully and confirm you have selected the intended console account. Epic requires users to remove a linking restriction before connecting a different console account; check the current account interface and Epic’s current console-account change instructions for the applicable steps.

Other browser or account errors
Use the remedy that matches the error shown. Epic’s sign-in troubleshooting guide recommends checking the email address, resetting a forgotten password, or trying another browser or a private window when account selection is the problem. For a cookie error, allow cookies, refresh the page, or temporarily disable browser extensions.

Epic says Xbox progress should be available on linked devices, with future progress syncing across them. If you continue on PC, sign into the Epic Games launcher with the same Epic account that is linked to Xbox. If the progress shown is not the one you expected, stop and recheck the Xbox profile and Epic account before making further linking changes.
