Try these clues in order if you want to solve the puzzle without seeing the answer immediately.
- The five-letter word has two vowels.
- It begins with a consonant.
- One letter appears twice.
- As a noun, it means an abnormally high body temperature, usually caused by an infection.

How to use Wordle’s tile colors
When you are working from the game board, the colors show how each guess relates to the answer: green marks a correct letter in the correct position, yellow marks a correct letter in the wrong position, and gray indicates a letter that is not in the answer. These are general Wordle-style instructions from the New York Times Help Center, not clues specific to puzzle #1319.
