The Secret Box puzzle has three layers—fruit, books or journals, then sakura—and its picture positions depend on your puzzle difficulty. Find it on Rinko’s desk in the southwest classroom on the school’s second floor. Use the matching solution below; each layer must be confirmed before moving on.
Where to find the Secret Box
After completing the Stairwell Puzzle, enter the southwest classroom on the second floor of Ebisugaoka Middle School. The door locks behind Hinako. Inspect Rinko’s desk in the center of the room to find the Secret Box and the first Unopened Envelope.

How the puzzle works
The box has three successive layers. Each envelope gives a thematic clue for the next set of images: fruit, books or journals, and sakura. Slide the panels to expose the images called for by the clue, then confirm the arrangement to open that layer. The required slots change with puzzle difficulty.

For each layer, use the listed slots on the indicated side or sides of the box, then confirm the arrangement.

- Fruit: expose the bottom-right image on one side and the top-left image on the other.
- Books: on one side, expose the second-from-top-right and second-from-bottom-left images; on the other side, expose the second-from-top-right image.
- Sakura: turn the box to its back and expose the sakura in the second-from-bottom-left slot.
Opening the final layer reveals the Second Floor Classroom Generic Key.
Hard difficulty solution
The following positions are reported for Hard mode. Apply each group to one side of the box and keep track of which side you are viewing as you turn it.

Lost in the Fog difficulty
Lost in the Fog uses different picture counts and positions from Story and Hard. PowerPyx describes its placements with white and brown rows and side labels; those row labels matter, so a simple top/middle/bottom grid is not a safe substitute. The available instructions do not establish the complete row-by-row arrangement here. Use a guide that preserves the source’s white/brown row labels and side orientation rather than applying the Story or Hard positions.

The completed box gives Hinako the Second Floor Classroom Generic Key. It unlocks the classroom so she can leave, and it also opens other locked doors on the second floor.
