You can run a Sanskrit shloka meditation stream from OBS by enabling live streaming on an eligible YouTube channel, building a simple scene with audio you have permission to use, and connecting OBS to YouTube with a stream URL and key. For a genuine 24/7 schedule, also plan monitoring, recovery, and local recording: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive.
Before you begin: channel access, rights, and a realistic plan
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility
Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s general eligibility guidance also says streamers must be at least 16 years old. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements and enable live streaming before setting up the broadcast. If you have only just enabled it, allow for activation to complete before your planned start.
Confirm rights for every asset
You are responsible for having the necessary rights to the live content and any archive, including music licensing. YouTube’s Livestream Terms and Conditions state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”
A Sanskrit verse’s age does not establish that a particular recording, arrangement, translation, image, or video is free to use. Get permission for the actual material in your stream and retain the records. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; a match can trigger a warning, replace the feed with a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. Even if you have a licence, YouTube says the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. An archived stream may also receive a Content ID claim after the live broadcast.

Choose a simple, sustainable format
For a meditation stream, a static or gently changing visual with clearly audible shloka audio is a straightforward starting point. This is a content choice, not a Sanskrit-specific requirement from YouTube or OBS. A computer that can run OBS is needed for this local method, but the cited setup guidance does not establish a minimum computer specification. Start with the equipment you have rather than assuming you need a gaming PC, capture card, or elaborate microphone setup.
Set up OBS and connect it to YouTube
- Install and open OBS Studio. Run the Auto-Configuration Wizard. It takes into account your intended use, computer resources, and network conditions, then proposes settings for your setup. You can revisit them if the test stream shows problems. See the OBS Quick Start Guide.
- Create a scene. In OBS, add the image or video you intend to show and any optional text, such as the shloka title or transliteration. Keep the visual legible and avoid adding material whose rights you have not cleared.
- Check the audio deliberately. Look at the Audio Mixer and confirm the intended source is active. Do not assume OBS is capturing the correct desktop audio or microphone. Listen to the levels and confirm the shloka is audible without unintended sounds.
- Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Open Create → Go Live and create or schedule a stream in Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions cover this workflow. Scheduling can give viewers a watch page and reminders before the stream starts.
- Copy the stream URL and key into OBS. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the server URL and stream key provided by YouTube; if you use a connection flow that supplies these automatically, verify the selected account and event instead. The key is a credential that lets the encoder send a feed to your channel, so do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream. YouTube’s stream settings guidance explains reusable settings and key options.
- Review the event options before going live. Check the title, description, visibility, audience settings, and any relevant DVR, auto-start, or auto-stop options in Live Control Room. Reusing prior stream settings can save time, but verify that the key and event are the ones you intend to use.
Test before making the stream public
Do a short test with the same scene, audio, connection, and encoder settings you expect to use. YouTube recommends testing and continuous quality monitoring in its live encoder tips. Before launch:

- Check the Live Control Room preview and confirm the picture and audio are correct.
- Open the watch page on both desktop and mobile to verify that viewers can reach it.
- Make a local recording and confirm that its file is growing and can be played back.
- Watch for dropped or unstable video and listen for silence, clipping, or unwanted audio.
- If you have a backup encoder or connection, test the handover rather than assuming it will work during an outage.
There is no single bitrate, resolution, or keyframe setting that can be recommended for every computer and connection from the available setup guidance. Use OBS’s wizard as a starting point, then validate the actual output in YouTube’s preview and adjust if the test shows quality or stability problems.
Designing for 24/7 operation and YouTube archives
Do not rely on one 24-hour event as a complete replay
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but broadcasts exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It recommends keeping a local recording as a backup; see YouTube’s live-stream archive guidance. A single uninterrupted 24-hour event is therefore not a dependable way to create a complete YouTube replay.

Plan monitoring and recovery
OBS and YouTube describe the encoder workflow and monitoring practices, but they do not promise uninterrupted 24/7 uptime or prescribe a particular event-rotation schedule. Decide in advance who or what will notice a failed stream, how you will restart or replace an event, and where local recordings will be checked and stored. YouTube’s operational tips include preparing streams in advance, checking previews, monitoring audio and video, verifying access from channel and watch pages, and testing failover where available. Treat these as practical safeguards, not an uptime guarantee.
You can schedule streams and reuse settings, but event rotation is an operational decision: account for the archive limitation, the possibility of interruptions, and the time needed to verify a replacement event. Avoid promising viewers an uninterrupted feed or full replay unless your own setup has demonstrated that outcome.

When a local OBS setup is not the right fit
OBS runs on your computer, so that machine and its internet connection remain part of the broadcast path. A cloud encoder or relay can reduce the workload on the local computer; YouTube describes this as an option, including for sending to multiple destinations.
